We arrived early in the morning after an overnight bus trip from Lake Inle. Thought we would have to wait until the official check in time (2pm?), but after initially being asked to wait we were actually in our rooms by 0830! Same applied on checkout, we were allowed to keep our rooms until 2pm. Staff were generally friendly and helpful, but I would specifically mention John, who helped us on arrival and departure, and his lovely colleague Thida. Both provided exceptional service.

Our rooms were large, beds comfortable, and well equipped with large shower and all the usual other facilities such as safe, minibar (inclusive of free drinks!) etc. Unlike all other hotels we stayed in, there was a step down into the shower meaning that the water could not escape into the rest of the bathroom. Great luxury!

We did not use the hotel restaurant, so can’t comment. Swimming pool was excellent, long enough for a reasonable swim and didn’t seem to be over chlorinated as is sometimes the case.

All in all we loved our stay. The hotel is pricier than some of the other places we stayed in while in Myanmar, but we didn’t mind paying a little extra to enjoy a bit of luxury at the end of our trip. If I had a single negative to highlight, it would be that this is the only hotel we used where breakfast was not included. That said, the tendency of our group was anyway to go out and explore what the city had to offer, so I won’t allow that to affect my rating as it did not detract from our overall experience.

Stayed here for 8 nights while foraging through Yangon. A slightly older but definitely 5 star hotel with all the amenities including super fast wifi. A very good, only slightly repetitive breakfast and extremely helpful staff.

We experienced an issue with noise due to Christmas and NY festivities by the pool and they very efficiently moved us to a new room on the other side of the hotel with no fuss.

The hotel is quite well placed, right across the road from a beautiful lake and within a 20 minute walk to the Shwedagon Pagoda. To get to most other places will require a taxi, which is extremely easy to hail using the Grab app with the fare usually less than 3,000 kyats and a driver turning up within minutes.

The hotel offers a transfer to the airport at 10,000 kyats which is slightly more expensive than what you can get through Grab however the standard of vehicle and driver they use is much superior. I would recommend paying the extra couple of bucks making use of this service when needing to return to the airport.

I would stay here again on a return trip.

We decided to stay here as it is a bit off city center, located next to the Zoological Garden with a view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. Though the hotel is very much Thai architecture and resort like, the hotel is bustling with tourist groups & business travelers. It may not be as relaxing as expected with big private lunch & dinner on the ground floor. The room is spacious, well kept but furnishing is somewhat old. We stayed in the Club pagoda view room and was upgraded to a bigger room with a huge balcony and magnificient view. There is a busy road runing next to the hotel property hence you will constantly here honking of cars driving by, but after 9pm, it's considerably less. The service is excellent, staff are very pleasant, sincere and speak fluent English. With our Club access, we also had afternoon tea & happy hour with snacks. We tried the Japanese restaurant and the int'l cuisine cafe, everything we ordered was delicious, in Myanmar standard. One complaint is that the cafe is extremely understaff, and breakfast could get very crowded at times. Would love to cemmend the services offered by John, Htet Yee, Hsce Pyae & Pyae Pyae, we thoroughly enjoyed their excellent service and attitude.

Location of this hotel was very good. The lake view from lobby lounge was extremely pleasant. Happy hour was great for value. They always sanitized everything and they wear mask and gloves for our hygienic and safety. Even they were providing phone sanitizing service for our phones. It is was really great. Thanks Jimmy and Kelvin for kindly support. Romm was very clean and spacious. Overall great experience.

Good size rooms. Walk in shower as well as a bath. We ate in the Bar which had received a surprising number of reviews recently from people who had never reviewed anything else. The food was good - the satay starter was huge and the burger good quality. It was spoilt though by a chef who smothers the fries in salt.

On the second evening, we had to send back a pina colada back because it was so watery and lacking in alcohol - no surprise was expressed by the waitress. The terrace has a nice ambience but this is spoilt if there is a private event taking place round the pool below.

I won't usually bother writing up giant hotels like this. You seem to get what you pay for, and the smaller family-run places are so much more interesting and worthy of review. But I have to say that this Chatrium was really great.

Lots of reviews below will detail all they have to offer at this huge property. I'll just note that the location on the north side of the lake didn't feel remote at all, since Yangon really isn't much of a walking city anyway. And I must say the staff here was truly delightful; way more personable and even charming than workers at this type of place are usually obliged to be.

Over all I felt that price wasn't all that high either, considering the quality of the experience.

We (my wife, son and me) spent just one night at the Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake in Yangon from the 14 th till the 15th of January 2020

In such a short stay is difficult to give an opinion. The hotel looks really nice in a colonial style .
We had breakfast included. As our departure flight from Yangon to Doha was really early in the morning (had to leave hotel at 5.30 am) the restaurant was not open yet for breakfast. Therefore, we asked if it was possible to have a quick continental breakfast (just coffee, orange juice and a some pastry) in the room at 05.00 am. We were told at the reception there was no problem at all.
Time came and no breakfast showed up at the arranged time. A couple of calls at reception requesting for it but never showed. We left the room and did a quick check out at the reception and they came with a couple of bags with coffee and chicken sandwiches (chicken at 05.00 am???).
Weird, but this was not what we paid for.

We started and ended our myanmar trip here. The rooms were nice and the some good food options on site. But my favorites were the beautifully tiled pool and we ate on the deck over looking the pool and beautiful palm trees at lunch, happy hour, dinner and late night cocktails. Those were lovely times. Also, so nice to have vegan options besides veggies and rice ;)

Also, didn't use it, but there is a very nice gym with huge windows overlooking the pool.
