Good hotel only £2 tuk tuk / Taxi to most places in the city. Walking up to the Pagoda was the main reason for choosing this hotel and not disappointed.
Hotel has a good breakfast. For evening I chose to walk about 100m down the road for about 4-5 other restaurants and bars

Amazing stay at this hotel. Although I only stayed for a night, I had the best experience ever.
1) I was early, reached at 0930. The hotel offered me early check in at no cost! I was shocked. Other hotels always charged even if the room is available. How generous!
2) From front desk to cashier, to restaurant and door man, everyone was all smiles and speaks good English. Genuine smiles and sincerity made me feel so welcome and at home
3) The restaurant staff was very attentive and he speaks good English too and was checking if I needed a coffee or an egg. It wasn't what he said but how he said it
4) The door man is a senior uncle..He is always greeting me with very warm smile. Last night I got back to the hotel at 8.30pn and now at 7am, he is on duty again! I must give him a tip when I depart.
5) The location is fantastic. Near to Shwedagon pagoda and the National Museum. There is also a yummy BBQ restaurant next door, Mr Cow.
The room is decent and worth the price. If you don't need a 5-hotel, looking for budget friendly, don't mind it is a little old yet a great experience, come here. I am a very happy guest

We would like to recommend this lovely hotel and excellent, friendly staff. Great location. Opposite People's Park, near Shwedagon Pagoda and Bogyoke Market.
From our window we could see the top of the exquisite pagoda. The hotel has good breakfasts, a lunch and evening restaurant and a nice bar - sports (soccer) on tv.
The rooms are spacious and clean and the shower and toilet are roomy.

Room was dirty, found cuts of fingernails on the fitted vintage carpet, which was everywhere blemished. Showerhead in the bathroom was fixed on the tube with grey adhesive tape. Bathroom not clean...No need to get offered another room, this is the style of this house. We went down asking for our registration form and after having teared up this, we escaped. Room was already payed in advance, so no need of any discussion with the receptionist either with the bell boy, who followed us in company with her trying to force the taxidriver not to leave with us. We didn‘t want to get back our money, we only wanted to leave and the receptionist together with the bellboy tried to stop us ! I adiviced the taxidriver go go go please, hurry up...he smiled and putted his foot on the floor of his Toyota. Afterwards he asked me where we wanna go at all. Don’t go there ! Waste of time an money!

We have just returned from an amazing tour of Myanmar organised for us by Dr. Zin of Myanmar Delight Tours, a Yangon travel agency. I am writing this review not as a travelogue, but to give an insight for anyone thinking of a more personal visit to Myanmar. We were not in a group so could decide for ourselves what to see and do.
We arranged our own flights from Heathrow on Qatar Airlines, but from our arrival in Yangon all transport, hotels and tour guides were arranged by Dr. Zin. And everything went off perfectly, without a hitch.
A local English speaking guide was on-hand awaiting our flight along with a driver and an air-conditioned car. This was the procedure at every airport or ferry terminal on our trip, except Ngapali Beach, where a tour guide was not needed. The advantage of having a local guide with the same car and driver ever available for us at each destination was immediately apparent. Our itinerary was flexible and the local advice from our guide made our whole trip unique and open to change. During our stay we went to a local wedding, visited a local home, chatted to ladies carrying 10 kilo bags for 2 hours back up to their village, and my wife even helped another group of ladies laying stone, re-building a road. We were also able to limit our pagoda visits to only those we wanted to visit. The heat of March really didn't bother us. After each pagoda, view or market visit it was back to the coolness of the car. Lunch venues were arranged by our guides who took us to their own favourite restaurants, usually with magnificent views.
Our tour started and ended in Yangon at the Summit Park View Hotel. I had requested a hotel with a pool and view in Yangon. Dr. Zin provided both, and the view of the iconic Great Schwedagon Pagoda from our hotel window was almost worth the cost of the entire holiday.
A flight to Bagan where we stayed at the Kumudra Hotel for 2 nights gave us time to explore, in our cool car, the local pagodas and markets. Unfortunately the balloon ride we had booked was cancelled because of typical early morning March winds, but our guide took us instead to Mount Popa, visiting local villages and industries on the way. He also advised that, rather than climb the mount itself, view it from a restaurant with a cold beer over lunch where the views were better and we wouldn't have to battle the monkeys! Fellow guests at lunch who had survived the climb agreed that his judgement was dead-on!
A day river cruise took us to Mandalay where we stayed for 3 nights at the Ayarwaddy River View Hotel. As always the local guide, driver and car were on-hand to transport us wherever we wanted to go. All entrance fees, boat and ferry costs and road tolls were included in our package, and our stay in Mandalay encompassed all of these.
A flight to Pindaya, 1 night at Pindaya Inle Inn, and then a drive to Inle Lake, where our driver and car were exchanged for a boatman and long-boat at our personal disposal for 2 days, while our guide remained with us. We stayed at the Paramount Hotel on the lake, and our boat was our taxi to explore the area. Magnificent!
We then flew to Ngapali Beach where we stayed for 3 nights at the Lin Thar Oo Hotel for a relaxing ending to our travels in Myanmar on what my wife says is as good as any beach she has ever visited - and she has seen quite a few!
2 final nights with our guide, driver and car in Yangon - and that wonderful hotel view, before we flew home to London with small gifts from Dr. Zin.
Myanmar is a fascinating and beautiful country, but the holiday was made for us by the friendliest, happy people of Burma. They were as intrigued by us as much as we were by them, and were only too willing to be photographed by and with us, often requesting us to pose for them.
My advice for anyone thinking of visiting Myanmar is go, and go now. Tourism is growing and new hotels in major centres are likely to change the atmosphere of a gentle, hard-working and caring people. We could not have had a better experience, and arranging everything through Myanmar Delight, a local company, has made our visit extra special. No groups, costs appreciably lower than comparative overseas bookings, and the money we paid stays in the local Myanmar economy.
We hope to return again soon.

I recently stayed at this hotel on business, and I have used it frequently when visiting Yangon since 2002.
The hotel is easily accessible by taxi from the airport (about 25 minutes without traffic) and the downtown area (15 minutes without traffic). It is well known to taxi drivers so should be easy to get to from anywhere in the city. The Shwedagon Pagoda is 1km away and the rooms on the west wing which face to the east have splendid views of this local spectacle, especially at night.
The superior and deluxe rooms are clean, large, basically decorated, and quiet, so good sleep is possible. The mattresses are a bit firm though. Good for back but not so comfortable for some. The bathrooms are clean and hot water supply is reliable. The TV has the standard international news channels, CNN, BBC, Channel News Asia as well as Al Jazeera.
There is a restaurant near the lobby that gets a bit crowded at breakfast time since room occupancy rates have skyrocketed now that Myanmar is opening up to the outside world. The buffet breakfast is varied including Asian and Western selections of food. The Asian selections include noodles, rice, stir fries and Indian. The coffee is unfortunately standard Nescafe. That needs to be improved upon. There are good selections of Western and Asian food available in the restaurant for lunch and dinner including a wine buffet.
If you want to explore some local eating places nearby, you can try Feel Myanmar Restaurant which is at 124 Pyidaungsu Yeiktha Street. There are other restaurants in that street that serve European or Chinese food. A few minutes taxi ride from the hotel.
There is a bar next to the lobby that serves a wide range of drinks including local beers on tap. This is a good place to relax after a long day in the tortuous Yangon traffic. There are some live bands that start up after 8 or 9pm.
A gym in the adjacent building has some running and weights machines and there is a pool that is kept reasonably clean.
There is a business centre in the lobby with public computers and internet which unfortunately you must pay for and is not cheap. There is Wi-Fi available in the rooms. The internet service is unreliable during the day so best to use after 8pm and before 6am. This is not a problem limited to this hotel but to internet service in general in Yangon.
Staff are incredibly polite, gracious and well-trained.
Overall it’s a good mid-range hotel to use as a base when doing business in Yangon, or as a transit hotel when travelling up country as a tourist.

Whenever I am in Yangon for work, I make sure I stay at the Summit. Not only is it in a great location; not too far from downtown yet not too far from the airport, but it is also a place that makes me want to return, it's the best hotel I've stayed in.
From the outside, the hotel is nothing special, it looks about 20 years old, and well, it looks like a hotel. There's no neon signs or fancy flashing lights but the gardens are always immaculate and the driveway always well swept.
The door staff are polite and courteous as they handle your luggage through the security scanners and the large marble-floored lobby gives a good impression of grandness, without being all style and no substance. The check-in staff are always smiley and polite and every staff member there has a great command of verbal and written English.
I have stayed in two different types of rooms at the Summit, there are the 'original' rooms, which is to say they have not been refurbished for a while and the 'new' rooms, which have been refurbished recently.
Of the 'original' rooms, I especially like the bath and shower combo, meaning I can choose to have a soak or if I'm in a rush, blitz myself clean. The bathroom suite and room carpet are a bit dated in appearance, but both are clean and nothing is broken.
Of the 'new' rooms, I enjoy the crisp modern feel and the power shower.
All rooms are clean and well-equipped, the water is always hot and with good pressure. Beds are large, clean and very comfortable.
The hotel restaurant is a pleasure to be in; I'm not normally one for eating in hotels but with the range and quality of the food that Summit offers, I don't see the point in going anywhere else.
The Breakfast buffet offers a wide-range of food, catering for every taste, their array of fresh fruit is great and their coffee is a grand way to start the day.
The lunchtime and evening meal service is fabulous, the kitchen excels at producing really delicious Asian and Myanmar cuisine (which I love) but it does not disappoint should you want something Western. The front-of-house staff are superb and attentive beyond compare.
Staying at the Summit is always a pleasure because I know I'm going to be treated well and enjoy the time I spend away from home. You are always greeted like you have been known to the staff for a lifetime, which really makes a difference. The best hotel in Yangon!

Ticks most boxes, large clean efficient if rather soulless modern hotel, well situated for the Shwe dagon Pagoda, and a cheap easily hailed taxi ride ($2) into the Scott market downtown area. Known to all taxi drivers, about $8-10 from Airport. Pool useful in heat of the day but gets busy after school and work, with locals. Drinks expensive but probably the norm in the capital. Good restaurants within walking distance, Indian, Singaporean, Chinese and the Black Canyon with a good buzz to it.

I stayed two night in March. A very nice hotel, in a modern building with views, from the front rooms, to the Shwedagon Pagoda. The staff are very pleasant and all seem to speak good English. My room was of a good size but some might think it was only basically euipped - but I found it comfortable and everything worked and was, like the rest of the hotel, well maintained. Even the tv had a reasonable selection of channels. The place is efficiently run and the restaurant is definitely good, with delightful service. The hotel is classifed as "de luxe" which seems to be about two rungs down from the top but I cannot see any real need for anything better - unless you really need a trouser press in your room.

book through a Yangon travel agent for the best rates--we had a deluxe double with gorgeous pagoda view for $45/night. Did not make use of many of the hotel facilities (pool, gym, etc), just too busy out and about in Yangon, but they looked to be in good nick. Service was attentive and friendly, especially the folks at the front desk, we felt well-looked after. Convenient money changer in the lobby next to the souvenir shops. Breakfast buffet not so great, many items seemed stale and were not hot even right at opening time. After the first morning, we skipped the free breakfast and started the day with cheap, tasty Bamar food at Feel Restaurant, an easy walk away--the mohinga here is sublime.
Great to be so close to Shwedagon, but a long walk (or short taxi) to the city center, not much right around the hotel. Some good local restaurants north of the Shwedagon complex, Aung Thuka has very tasty Bamar food with all the trimmings. Trendy Chinese restaurant across the street from hotel has pretty good food and surprisingly good live music, a fun night out with well-heeled locals. Thailand's Black Canyon Coffee right next door, we did not eat there but did have satisfying, if pricey iced coffees.
Overall, we had a great room with a stellar view and really enjoyed our stay here, but would likely stay somewhere more central on a future visit to Yangon.

Hi khadijava
I would recommend you visit the official hotel website, once in their website, go to rooms section, select the various options from double deluxe to triple deluxe to family suite, you choose depending on your planned budget.you need not pay any money while booking, the website will ask for your card details, but you pay only after you have taken the room, good hotel and good location
Dont know we were just their to have a great time and we did...
Sorry i dont think it was.all stairs and lifts great hotel didn't see any disability facilities.
Hello. The chance are that you will have a partial view of pagoda with deluxe room. I suggest you contact them to ask for full view, they usually try to accommodate. Enjoy the trip!
No. Personally has never affected me and is still a great hotel.
