All staff were friendly. I arrived at ICN and took the Airport Bus 6703 which was convenient (the bus stops at at Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam which is just next door). Except for the room which is small in size, everything else was awesome. The hotel offered Japanese udon with kimchi at 9pm daily. Also, I enjoyed the breakfast which was very satisfying (many selections!)

Hotel is well located near Gangnam. Closer station is Sinonhyeon station.
Truly a hotel for family and Leisure trip. Not so suitable for business. Room is small, iron board is extremely small. However, Good working desk, clean room, good location. Near many restaurants. Overall still good hotel. Reasonable price.

This is a hotel with many positives, particularly in the additional services they offer for no additional cost!

TO/FROM INCHEON AIRPORT: As others mentioned, this is a great option because it is right next door to the Novotel (when facing the main road, Dormy Inn is on your right), the 4th stop when taking the limousine bus from Incheon Airport. Despite a night arrival, it still took us over an hour to reach the hotel, but, we did so with ease and comfort (16,000 won per person). If you are heading back to the hotel, just head back over to the Novotel for the bus to the airport. If you are after the timetable of the return bus, there is one in amongst the flyers and maps available at Dormy Inn.

HOTEL LOCATION/TRANSPORT: This hotel is close to a few subway stations, but we usually went to Sinnonhyeon Station (Line 9), which is just past the Le Meridien Hotel and other shops/cafes. If exiting out of that station, look for Exit 4 which is the closest exit to the hotel. If you like to walk, you are also within walking distance of Gangnam Station (go past the entrance down to Sinnonhyeon Station and turn left > keep walking past many shops, and you will eventually reach Gangnam Station). If taking the subway, don't forget that there are Express trains and All Stops trains - depending where you're going, you generally want to take the Express ones!

The hotel offers a handy map just highlighting some restaurants, which you can pick up from the lobby. One of the best places to go is called "Gangnam Station Food Street" (the sign even says that!), which is on your left, just before you head down into Sinnonhyeon Station. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from. On another night, we decided to check out the restaurants on the other side of the road - there were more bars/pubs on the other side, but still plenty to choose from!

Across from the hotel and to the right (when facing the road from the hotel) were some 7-11 and C U convenience stores. This is where you can purchase T-Money cards (I got them from C U), which are a must, as it enables you to travel around with ease (can even pay your taxi fare using it!). They also had ATMs, but, my debit card did not work at the machine in 7-11, however, I had success at the ATM inside C U convenience store, and also topped up my T-Money card at the 7-11 store on the right of the hotel.

HOTEL ROOM: Booked a room for a single person (but unless you get the twin or Deluxe Double bed room, I believe this is the same room for 2 people) for a great price on Agoda.

The hotel room was small, but perfectly fine for a solo traveller! However, it would be a tad of a squeeze for 2 adults, particularly, if you're not used to smaller spaces, so, a twin room (usually more expensive) might be a better option (but even then, it is not a huge room, so, keep your expectations realistic!). The bathroom was fine - compact but had all you needed including shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The hotel offered pjyamas, which they advised you could wear to breakfast or the spa/sauna, along with slippers, and some other items like toothbrush/toothpaste/comb. There were also the usual things like an in-room safe, kettle, and tea bags. The free wi-fi was great - no issues there!

HOTEL SERVICES/FACILITIES: This is where the hotel most shines beginning with the free hotel shuttle bus to two different routes (one around the Gangnam area, and another was the Gangbuk route - handy if you wanted to go to Myeongdong or Seoul Station!). This is a definite plus, especially for first-timers! A copy of the shuttle bus schedule is listed near the flyers/maps in the lobby. Just be at the shuttle bus at the relevant time, and away you go! Note that there is no return shuttle bus back to the hotel, but this is fine, as you can plan your own way back (TIP: If you can not speak/read Korean, download Naver Maps to assist with navigating around, since Google Maps is limited in Korea).

Another plus was the free hotel sauna and spa. There is a separate one for females and males. You will also find the laundry inside the spa. This is free too, but the dryers are not. TIP: Many people used the basket that housed their bath towel as a laundry basket. There was also a free pillow rental, but the two times I went there to see if I could obtain a new pillow (I found the hotel pillow to be too flat!), there was none available. Additionally, free soba noodles at night are offered at the hotel restaurant between 9:30PM-11PM. So many people took up this offer, and the noodles were delicious! The hotel does have a computer with printer (there are costs for printing), but, it's really not in a good location, if you're looking at anything private like your bank account, since it is in the lobby seating area, where your back + computer screen faces everyone. This is next to the drinks station, where you can grab tea/coffee (try the corn tea!) from the afternoon onwards.

BREAKFAST: I did not have breakfast included as part of my hotel stay, but I did purchase breakfast once (22,000 won). It was great, if you are interested in trying Korean breakfast. If western breakfasts are your preference, there are some items, but it's quite limited. However, when in Korea, I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to try a Korean breakfast instead! While breakfast offered a great spread, there are many cheaper options available elsewhere.

CONCLUSION: Overall, this is a great hotel for the price you pay (which is not a lot, when you compare with other cities!). There was one downside though - If you don't speak Korean, not all staff, I found, were as fluent in English as you might expect of hotel staff. However, they certainly do try, which is always appreciated! This can be an issue though, if you're generally one who asks many questions, but it did not impact me much at all, so, not so much an issue really!

For a first-timer though, I would perhaps reconsider staying in Gangnam and perhaps choose somewhere in Myeongdong or Jongno (however, this is a different issue entirely, and has no bearing on the hotel itself!), but if you're after a great hotel with good facilities in Gangnam, I would not hesitate to recommend Dormy Inn - hard to beat the price, offers excellent services/facilities like the free shuttle bus, and its proximity to the subway and easy access via limousine bus to Incheon Airport is a definite plus!

ONE TIP ON PRICE: Look at prices on Agoda (typically offered the cheapest prices) and take note, but then also, go onto HotelsCombined and see what price you can get on Agoda via that way. More often than not, the price was less than if I had booked directly with Agoda (and certainly less than if I had booked via Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, etc.).

The hotel was really nice but some of the staff weren’t very helpful or considerate. And only had concern about whether you had paid for things although they were friendly. But it was frustrating at times. It might be helpful to have some English speaking staff around. Great location but signal was awful.

As with any hotel, the most important aspect is cleanliness. Dormy Inn perfectly met my expectations in this regard. The room is well-appointed, beautifully decorated in soothing Japanese tones, and includes roomwear. The hot springs bath was lovely. The late-evening spicy ramen was a nice touch. The cleaning staff is friendly, and the check-in staff, including the trainee, are fluent in Japanese and English. And the free shuttle to Myeongdong Station is very convenient.

· For the price, breakfast really should have been included, but it wasn’t. The free late-night ramen could have been swapped out for breakfast and I wouldn’t even have missed it. Also, and this is not the fault of the hotel, although Dormy Inn is nestled a 3-to 5- minute walk between two subway stations, both of these walks include moderate to steep hills. The area in general is very hilly, and due to an injury, I sure felt every step of those hills.

Located in the trendy Gangnam area, the hotel is ideally situated close to shopping and transport links. I booked the hotel as the price seemed reasonable. Rooms were small but comfortable and clean with everything you need for a short stay. Staff were very polite and helpful and the buffet breakfast was amazing with lots of choice.

I live in the US but have plenty of relatives and friends in Seoul to stay with; I choose to stay at hotels when I visit because I can come and go as I please without having to answer to anyone.

In my opinion, this hotel is more for people don't have plans and want to relax, so it's not really my style of hotel, or for anyone who just needs a clean, not-too-cheap place to keep his/her luggage, shower, and pass out for 5-6 hours every day.

I didn't book the smallest sized room here, but it was TINY - claustrophobia-inducing regardless, including the narrow bathroom. It's good that they have a small bath-house you can shower at instead and hang out in all day, with bathrobes in each room that all of the guests walk around in all over the hotel. I definitely saw lots of guests lounging at the hotel at all hours of the day as I came and went.

The other thing is, they have lots of perks you've never considered, like pillows of varying hardness and height that you can just take up to your room from a cubby downstairs and a simple noodle snack offered at nighttime, but lack little things that you would want or expect (I can't recall what they were off of the top of my head, but I remember thinking "X and Y would be nice to have because most hotels would have them").

I tried the breakfast food (it's a casual walk-in-and-seat-yourself buffet) and it was bland but not bad. They definitely try to impress with quantity, and there is nothing I can complain about.

There is also free parking (validated), for anyone who rents a car or has local visitors.

The real CONS I found were:
1) Shuttle service seems very limited in terms of times and locations.
2) Location - the hotel is sort of in the middle of nowhere, not close to any subway; however, bus stops are close by. The buses didn't directly go anywhere I personally wanted to go, but I mostly took cabs, which were easy enough to catch. Unfortunately, it was difficult to tell the cabs exactly where to go when I was returning to the hotel. Not all of the drivers knew the landmarks/points of interest I pointed out.
3) Stuffiness/noise - rooms are quiet enough as long as you KEEP THE WINDOWS SHUT AT ALL TIMES. However, my room was tiny and stuffy even in March, and no amount of AC/dehumidifier seemed to do the trick, so I tried cracking open the windows and leaving them open while I was out (despite the really bad smog reports). As soon as I returned and shut them due to noise, it got stuffy again.

Also, I stayed here for about a week, and unfortunately my dad ended up suddenly getting hospitalized on my first day, so that I mostly shuttled back and forth from a hospital for my entire stay and couldn't take full advantage of the breakfast buffet I had paid for. One morning, I quickly stopped by the buffet and ate as fast as I could so that I could go to the hospital again ASAP. I walked out of the restaurant and a waiter said goodbye as I left, and I said the same. There is a bench in the hallway next to the restaurant, and I sat there for a second to plan out my day, then remembered I had forgotten to grab a yogurt (Yoplait container?), so I went back and grabbed one and sat on the bench next to the restaurant again. I was about to eat the yogurt there with a plastic spoon before heading out of the hotel, but the waiter I had spoken to earlier came running out, stuck out his palm, and said in Korean that I am not allowed to take food from the restaurant, especially after having left the buffet already. He waited in the hallway with his hand held out until I got up and handed the plastic container back to him. This was in full view of other guests and other hotel employees. It was extremely embarrassing, like I was a child being scolded by a teacher at school.

I know he had no idea about my situation of not having slept for days and having shuttled back and forth all day and night from a hospital, and it's really not his problem, but I was really tired/broken down from my vacay-turned-nightmare week and it felt AWFUL to be scolded about a stupid container of yogurt, especially in public. I didn't think it was a big deal, as it was in a plastic throwaway container. Mind you, I am 35 years old. Plus I don't think he would have done this to anyone who looks older or who doesn't speak Korean.

Anyway, although it certainly didn't help, that last part ultimately wouldn't stop me from staying here again. The dealbreaker is more that the location was inconvenient for meeting friends in trendy eating/shopping areas or even for going touring, and that the amenities are more for guests who want to stay in and take baths, or sit around for extended periods of time and eat buffet breakfasts for $15-20, and return to the hotel early in the evenings to get free noodles at 9pm. My agenda doesn't fit with that. BUT it wasn't a terrible stay, either, all things considered.
