Firstly, the hotel was immaculate and the service I received from Craig the bellman was exceptional. His whole attitude from the start put me in the right head space for the business proposal I was presenting to my clients in New York. The food was amazing and fresh.

The Standard Hotel is a clean, tidy hotel with good amenities for a city hotel, a very helpful and accommodating staff and a subway station right outside. I wanted to give this hotel 4/5 stars because it wasn't perfect, but the general manager and other employees were so helpful to me every day of my stay that they more than earned the 5th star.

The pros:

_ Phenomenally helpful staff! Every morning, once I had plotted out where my girlfriend and I wanted to go that day, the general manager would take me to the computer, figure out the best way to get to our destinations by subway and print out maps for us. This allowed us to easily travel around Seoul because the city has a well-organized subway system that functions just about flawlessly. Most of the staff spoke very good English.
_ Cheap laundry! The lobby area has two washing machines and two dryers, plus laundry detergent pods, dryer sheets, baskets and bags. Washing costs 4,000 won ($4), and drying is free. The instructions on the machines are written in Korean, but the reception staff can show you what to do. (It's easy, so you'll only need to be instructed one time.)
_ Terrific WiFi! The WiFi was what you'd expect from a hotel in Seoul and was free.
_ Decent size. The room wasn't big, but it also wasn't small. It was a good size for an Asian hotel room.

A few cons:

_ Breakfast. Breakfast wasn't included, it was $7. But it was worth the $7.
_ Air conditioning. The A/C didn't work during our stay, but they gave us a fan. It was March and was cold outside so we were comfortable in our room with the window ajar and the fan on or with the window closed and the fan on.

Overall, I'd recommend this hotel. I'd stay here again. Our stay was very comfortable and the staff did its best to help us with everything we needed.

TIP: Taxi drivers from Seoul Station seemed to have trouble finding the hotel, even when we had the name and address of the hotel printed out in Korean for them. If you have cellphone access, call the hotel and let the receptionist explain the location to the driver.

TIP: The hotel's lobby is on the second floor, not on the ground floor. You can take a long staircase up to the second floor or can enter through coffee shop on the ground floor and take an elevator up to the second floor. I think the coffee shop closes around 11 or 11:30 p.m.

TIP: Consider packing fewer clothes and doing laundry one day. It's cheap and fast. You'll need 4,000 won in 1,000-won notes for the washer, and the dryer is free. Detergent pods, dryer sheets and bags for your clothes are free. The washers and dryers are available 24/7 but don't get much use, so don't worry about putting your clothes in at night and picking them up in the morning.

TIP: There's an awesome fried-chicken restaurant, KyoChon, across the street. You must eat there! The original flavor (soy sauce- and garlic-infused) is out of this world, as are the potato wedges, which are crispy on the outside and as fluffy as clouds on the inside. Try the salad with blueberry dressing, too. The restaurant closes at 11 p.m., and the last order is at 10:45 p.m.

TIP: Take advantage of the fact the hotel is next to a subway entrance/exit for the Deungchon station on the 9 line. The subway system is a great way to get around Seoul, and it's affordable and easy to use. The machines that sell tickets have clear English instructions: Pick your destination, insert your money (there are cash change machines nearby usually), get your ticket and go. Signs for approaching trains will say what the next stop is so you'll know if you're going in the right direction. Watch out for express trains, which might skip your stop. When you leave the subway system, remember to put your ticket into one of the machines that refunds 500 won. Take a cellphone photo of a subway map: That's easier to handle than a big folding map.

TIP: The hotel is at a really busy intersection, and it can take 5 minutes or more just to cross the street because you have to cross in two places with traffic lights. As a shortcut, you can use the subway system: Enter at Exit 8 (right in front of the hotel), go down the escalator, follow directions to Exit 1 and come up at Exit 1. You'll be across the street, half a block from the KyoChon fried-chicken restaurant. (I'm pretty sure I have those exit numbers right, but ask the hotel staff or check a subway map. It's very easy.)

TIP: The best way to get to Incheon Airport if you have luggage is by taxi, which costs about 40,000 or 45,000 won (about $40) and takes about 35-40 minutes if there's no traffic. The hotel can arrange for a taxi to pick you up whenever you want. Make sure you ask about traffic conditions around the time you're scheduled to leave because traffic can get bad.

This hotel is reasonably priced, clean, comfortable. It's right next to to the train station. It's closer to Exit 8, but if it's your first time there, try exit 7 instead, as there's a sign pointing you to the hotel. Exit 8 requires you go up an unlabeled narrow flight of stairs to reach the lobby on level 2.

I had x2 single beds. Not much to complain about. Gave x1 500ml free bottle of water daily. The ceiling is a bit higher than normal, the blinds overlap, they don't just meet end to end, leaving a crack for sunlight to seep through at 7am, so you can get soem good sleep.

There are some 24 hour convenience stores around, called Emart24, and GS...something.

The hotel is on line 9.

Minor quibbles. Floor was slightly sticky at places. Shower was a showerhead above a bathtub- I don't like those- less space to move my feet,

Didn't expect the ceiling to be this high (1.5 times compare to others), very surprising. Lighting is warm but bright, the control panel needs better labeling instead of "lighting 4 and 5". Not too noisy. Comfortable bed and linen, room space is fit. Different types of cable is provided each inside the room and international sockets equipped. Can ask for extra free bottles of water. Location of hotel a bit far away from city center but is right next to subway exit, so not a problem. Had a pretty good stay, will definitely come back for next visit at Seoul.

Rooms are okay and convenient. Probably just renovated because the shower in the bath tub is still the old one. Aircon quit okay although I like lower temperature.
The lobby is like not existing. The breakfast area could be seen as the lobby but without any facilities. The breakfast it self was nothing special compared to continental standards.
Downstairs is a coffee shop where you can buy the expensive drinks (hotel discount does not really work).
Finally the waiter downstairs is a grumpy old man who does not help much and doesn't allow anything.
Quality is okay for the price. Not much special but very okay to stay.

Pros:
- Very friendly and helpful staff who can speak good English. One of them went out of his way to research a few food options for me, and the mudfish soup (chueotang) restaurant he recommended nearby was absolutely fantastic!
- Very clean and spacious room with a bathtub.
- Has everything you would need, including bathrobes, kettle, slippers, toiletries (including face wash and skin care products), and even a humidifier when requested.
- Very comfortable mattress
- Conveniently located right outside of Deungchon Station (exit 8) with escalators (up & down)
- Hotel provides free voucher for one coffee per room at the coffee shop on the ground floor
- Have laundry facilities
- Excellent value for money.

Cons:
- Can hear some street noise from the 3/F, but nothing that kept us awake. We requested for a room on a higher floor in advance but wasn't given one. Not a big deal though.
- Not a happening neighbourhood but enough local restaurants nearby to satiate your hunger (including a 24-hour seolleongtang place less than a minute walk from hotel)
- Disposable, rather than reusable, slippers would have been more hygienic

Travel with family and had a 3-person room during 181018-181021.

Location:
It's really near exit 7 or 8 of Deungchon on line 9, both exit has escalator so it’s convenient for traveler with luggage.
Though the location is convenient, the place it’s at is not very friendly for tourists, line 9 is more for commuting use, during Korea’s rush hours the cart are full of office workers, which would be hard to ride on to the subway if you have luggage or big baggage with you.People in the cart will give you hard look.
My family find it disturbing every time we go out to other stop for site seeing.(No luggage,we only carry shoulder bag but still feels very crowd...)
I think the hotel is more suitable for business trip.If you don’t like to feel crush, you’d better take a taxi.
There’s a open-air market around the hotel, which you can get fruit, bread, midnight snacks, fried chicken...also there’s a DAISO in the market.

Structure:
Hotel lobby is at 2nd floor, you have to enter by a narrow stair besides a cafe name Smith Coffee.(Hotel provides one free coffee coupon during check-in.)
If you have luggage or anything heavy with you, you’ll have to walk to the back of the hotel, where the parking lot is, than take the elevator to the lobby to transfer another elevator to your room.
The sound insulation of the room is not that well, we can hear other rooms are bathing when others turn on the bathtub faucet.

Devise and Environment:
Cause the hotel is quite new, all the device they provide are in great condition, the mattress are comfortable.Hope they can keep this status for long term.
The cleaning of the room will need to enhance, we found lots of dust and weird fragments on the room floor almost everyday and once the room keeper didn’t clean our trash and provide bottle water. It seem like they didn’t do it thorough.
The hotel provide washing machine and dryer. Free for dryer, washing machine needs ₩4000 per use.
My family took a 3-person’s room. It’s actually a bit small...not enough room for 3 persons luggage...the single bed it’s reluctant for the space.

Standard Hotel is located directly above Deungchon station, Exit 8. There is an escalator at exit 8 so there is no problem with heavy luggages. From Incheon airport, we took 6003 and it reached Deungchon middle school. We walked about 10mins to the right of the bus station. The hotel is prominent enough to be seen. Enter to the lobby level 2 through the Coffesmith cafe's lift.

We booked the standard 2 single beds room and the room view was opened to concrete building next door. They gave one card key but I've asked for another. There was no fuss and there was no additional charge to me. Space of the room was also good and we had plenty of space to navigate around the room even after opening our two luggages. We found the beds of the room to be really good. For a traveller, a good night's rest is important and the beds met our criteria. The amenities, water and coffee were replenished daily. Also the variety of amenities was substantial. Room cleanliness was not fantastic. Despite being a new hotel, we found some stains and peeling here and there. Imagine if the hotel was in establishment for another 2 years...

Service was not bad. The staff can understand English well enough but speak slowly... As the location was good, we had no trouble navigating our way through different parts of Seoul. There are plenty of convenience stores and food was aplenty in the area. In fact we discovered a jokbal specialty restaurant next to the hotel and a beansprout specialty restaurant about a street down. For the price we paid and the experience of this hotel, I would recommend this hotel.

The first time in Korea, we chose Standard hotel. It's a new and very clean hotel. It is very close to the subway station, very convenient for travel. Our room on the high side has a beautiful view of the city. Room amenities are very comfortable. Very friendly staff and helpful. We really like the hotel and will come back in the future.
