RYSE, Autograph Collection hotel garners compliments for its spacious, modern rooms and strategic location near Hongdae and transit options, making it a hit with guests seeking convenience and style. While the modern amenities and the hotel's vibrant, youthful atmosphere receive high marks, some guests suggest that the value proposition could be better when compared to similar establishments. Although the service is generally celebrated for being attentive, and the cleanliness overall meets expectations, there are isolated mentions of air conditioning issues and the need for more thorough carpet cleaning.

I just checked out of Ryse Autograph Collection in Seoul with my family (my sister and her 2 kids, my elderly parents and myself) after a short 3 nights stay and I am eager to tell everyone what a wonderful hotel Ryse is and what incredible, helpful and happy staff they have! Makes a huge difference when you are surrounded by happy young people who obviously enjoy and respect their jobs.

First of all the location of the hotel is in Hongdae which is a younger university area and i was worried as i am neither young nor too energetic and wasn’t sure about being surrounded by students but there was so much to do in the area and the variety of shops was definitely not limited. My mother and sister went bananas shopping in the area.

We usually stay at the Shilla in Seoul which is supposed to be one of the best hotels in town but this time, Ryse trumped it all in all aspects.

We had 2 connected Editor’s rooms for my sister, her kids and myself and a producer suite for my parents on the same floor. The rooms were so modern and simple yet amazing in details. There were USB charging in every corner of the room and the power outlets for electric plugs were all international standards meaning you can use any plugs you bring. Electric jug and coffee and mugs were readily available as were plenty of bottled water per room. There was no snack or extra drinks but the 24hour convenient store is located 10 sec from the hotel so really no need for that.

Beds and beddings were very comfortable and though it was mostly open space format meaning there weren’t any close closets, it made the rooms so much more spacious and the fact that we had so many korean beef BBQ meals, the clothes got a chance to air! Perfect.

The furniture were perfect for the space as was the layout of each of the rooms. We had 2 staying in each room and plenty of baggage as we were heading to our ski trip after yet there was ample room for all the extra luggage and shoppings!

The quality of the bathroom amenities was really good. I usually bring my own products when i travel but this time, i didn’t even use any of my own stuff. They even gave us some really nice Korean face hydration masks....so good!

The staff were amazing! James Ham who helped with our booking initially, Eric who helped with the pre-arrival booking arrangements, Olivia who helped checked us in that cold early mornings, Ariel who showed us the area and Irene the sweet little (strong) bell lady. Thank you Team Ryse!

We will be back!!!

I forgot to take pictures until this morning so please excuse the mess. The pictures are of the editor’s room that i stayed in.

Had an amazing stay at the super stylish Ryse Hotel over NYE! We spent 4 nights here and loved it.
Staff all around the hotel is very kind and helpful, our Producer Suite was spacious and beautifully appointed, with everything we needed: bottled water, Nespresso machine, we even had some candies and a bottle of red wine + cheese and crackers waiting for us on our arrival. They even give you complimentary Korean face masks!
Only downside was the bathroom was already looking a bit tired and maybe in need of some more maintenance.
Location is hit and miss, it really depends on what you’re looking for: Ryse is in the middle of Hongdae, conveniently close to the Hongik University subway station (perfect if you’re coming from Incheon airport). The area is lively and there’s plenty of bars and restaurants open till late. On the other side, if you’re planning to do some sightseeing around town, be prepared to spend a good amount of time on trains/taxis, as the main attractions of Seoul are a bit far away.
Side Note Club upstairs serves some good cocktails and there’s a nice view over the city, while Tartine is perfect for your IG feed (and of course for delicious coffee and pastries).
We had breakfast included in our rate, and it was served at the Long Chim restaurant downstairs: great choice of food both from the buffet or from the cooking station (too bad we couldn’t try this restaurant during our stay for some proper Thai food!).
We would be back for sure!

Ryse is conveniently located on the main road so it’s very accessible by taxi. It’s a few mins walk from an airport shuttle bus stop (I think it’s #6002) and hongik university subway station. I’d say it’s in the heart of hongdae area with lots of shops and restaurants (open til midnight) around.

Check-in was a swift - I arrived at the hotel quite late and got my room keycards in just a few minutes. I booked the “Creator Room” which I originally thought would be of decent size, but I think it’s just slightly bigger than an average hotel room in Seoul - that was a little disappointing. I like that the room has wooden floor but the bathroom is really small. It has a sliding door that serves as a full length mirror but I left it open most of the time as the bathroom is really cramped with door closed.

Cleanliness needs a lot of improvement as I spotted a few dirt stains and dust that has been there since I checked in and throughout my stay (3 nights) which was a letdown considering Ryse belongs to the Marriott group.

All in all I think the hotel is alright, with the price I would expect something up to the standard though.

I stayed here twice.

My first time was in March of 2020. I booked a standard room using rewards night. As a gold member, I’d be lucky if I even get a room on a higher floor but they upgraded me two categories above. I went from the standard creator room to a Director room. Super friendly staffs and got some free pretzel (?) as a snack. It was very good actually. I think even the standard room would have been spacious enough but the director room was more than enough for 3 people even. Everything was so new and felt so unique.

The second time I visited was June. I booked the artist designer suite this time. The first room I got was 1505 (pic 1) which was one of the 5 artist suites, but it wasn’t the one I thought it would be. Because online, it shows room 1504 (pic 2) so I assumed all rooms looked like that. I simply ask the front desk about it and a staff told me that 1504 was the only room that’s designed like the stock photo. No biggie but then the manager at that time overhead us and came out to me and asked if I would like to switch. She told me that the current guest is checking out at 4pm (it was about 2pm at that time) so if I wanted it, it would be about 6pm before it was ready. I said no problem because I was going to head out for a few hours anyway. Guess what? They finished cleaning within an hour of the check out time. Service like this is just amazing. Breakfast was included this time and it was a la carte style. Got the egg Benedict and the mushrooms on the side were so juicy and fresh. I can’t compliment this place enough.

You can search designer hotel Seoul on YouTube if you would like to see the inside.

RYSE was highly recommended by people around me and I could see why it was popular. The hotel is furnished modernly and is staffed with young Korean bilingual staff that are readily available for assistance, giving off a young vibe which is comforatble. The hotel is located strategically in the heart of Hongdae and is few walks away from Exit 1/9 of Hongik University metro station.

I stayed in the Editor Two Double Room and the room was spacious with enough space for 4 adults to move around. The room was equipped with the essentials such as kettle, bathrobes, bar fridge, and also a Bluetooth speaker decent enough to play music from phone. The couch (in 1402) however could see a replacement as the cushion is lacking support and easily sinks in when seated. The attached bathroom is nicely designed with a separate space for the toilet (with bidet!) from the basin and bathtub. View from room is great too, overlooking the city of Seoul.

Overall it's a nice stay in RYSE and will be back again if I were to visit Hongdae!

This is probably our favorite Marriott property in Seoul. It is very modern, contemporary, clean, and the decor of the rooms really made us love staying here.

We were upgraded to an editor room as I am a gold Bonvoy member which was a nice surprise. We were absolutely happy with the result as well.

Our first impression was the room was very spacious for Seoul. Our room had a couch and a massive bathroom! The bathroom has mirrors on nearly every side as well as being quite spacious.

The beds had incredibly soft sheets that felt like silk and longer than average pillows that fit the bed nicely.

The area was also nice as it was basically on the busy streets of Hongdae and there is a great brick over pizza place directly beside the hotel for those late-night cravings!

If in Seoul, totally check out this place!

The hotel is very conveniently located and easily accessible by car or public transportation. Its also a close walk to main areas of Hongdae, so definitely a perfect hotel for staycation.
Great hidden rooftop bar, make sure to give it a try.

Room:
What a beautiful room! I loved the large table (to host some guests or get some work done while working remotely), the massive, brightly lit bathroom, and one of the most comfortable beds I've had in a while. The decor, bedding, toiletries, and furnitures are all high quality. Even the slippers and bathrobes are super comfortable.

Breakfast:
(Charr) Great a la carte breakfast with pastries and beverages at the buffet section. The design was great too - charcoal themed, industrial chic style. There was even an arcade section where you can play games for free.

Bonvoy member benefits:
Recognized for my Titanium status and was upgraded. There was even a welcome gift (wine / snacks) and free drinks at the bar. Top notch service and friendly attitude from all hotel staff. Highly recommend status members to visit the hotel.

The hotel is a funky and trendy one and situated at a youthful neighborhood Hongdae. There are tons of restaurants, bars and shops around and opening till late night. The director suite is well designed and spacious. It comes with a bathtub which is always welcomed during the cold autumn and winter times. They also provide facial masks which I haven’t seen in any city hotels. Breakfast is good enough to start a fresh day, but nothing very luxury. I recommend this hotel for youngsters, much like a small W!

Good location, stylish interior, but terrible service. In fact we believe F&B staffs never received proper service training. We had dinner at Side note club, had to wait for 45 mins for food to be served. When we finally got our meal, they were served COLD. We felt something went wrong and complained but staff had no idea what to tell us and made poor excuses saying orders might have been mixed up with different table. Asked to serve our meal warm at least and kitchen refried chips instead of making new batch after total 1hr of waiting. I don’t think we would visit again.

Great location, friendly service and lovely clean rooms. This was on a main street close to a subway station and convenience stores, an Olive Young, etc. so it felt safe even walking back in the evening. Staff were very accommodating and the breakfast had a good spread too! Lovely design of the furniture in the rooms with the sliding doors to close off the wardrobe/luggage and fridge section, giving it a cleaner and more minimal feel (without seeming too cluttered, as can often happen on holiday!)

A side tip for any BTS fans: we were given a room facing the back of the hotel and we were able to see the building where BTS' old dorm was located! It's a nice walk to the Hyuga cafe and Hakdong park.
