We booked 2 rooms for 3 persons since the family rooms were full. The rooms were spacious enough to move around and clean. They provide clean towels ,a bottle of water/person everyday and toiletries. Its a small hotel with very limited staff manning the front desk area but for every request you make they deliver. Very good service and they speak English, The hotel is situated across the Myeongdong shopping street, and a lot of places to eat beside the hotel. A 24 hour eatery,Mcdonalds, Paris Baguette, Isaacs across the street and a lot of coffee shoos . The subway station is just a few meters away.
We would surely come back for our next trip.

Location of the hotel is just right at the corner down the road opposite the main Myeongdong shopping street. Our room has a very nice view of the Namsan tower. The room is clean and comfortable with ample space for us to open 2 big luggage for packing. Price is reasonable for its location so will definitely consider this hotel again for our next trip to Seoul.

New Oriental Hotel located off Toegyero is just a main road away from Myeongdong, Namdaemun and Shinsegae, a dream come true for shopaholics who have the best of upmarket and street market shopping. Beyond Shinsegae along Namdaemun-ro, there are three Lotte Stores viz Lotte Young Plaza (with SM Town pop-up store at B1), Avenuel and Lotte Department Store. The hotel was the last stop for our vacation after a day away at Chuncheon and Nami Island. Through Trivago, we found the best rates for our dates (room only) with Booking.com. The first night was charged prior to our arrival, with the balance payable at check in. The Front Desk staff are very courteous, formal and professional. Special thanks to Mr Song for giving the best check in experience on this trip - speedy and pleasant, and for assigning us a room overlooking N Seoul Tower. There is a cosmetics store on Level 2 of New Oriental Hotel (similar to Olive Young); the rooms are on Levels 3 to 7. The self service laundry and alfresco terrace are on Level 8.

Our room was well appointed, newly renovated and very clean and neat. The beds are very comfortable and we slept well every night. Unlike some hotels which turn on central heating even in spring, we could switch on the aircon in our room at New Oriental Hotel. We didn't need to use our adapters as the two power sockets in our room could take all types of plugs. Wifi worked well and we used whatsapp for our calls home, so we didn't need any local prepaid card or wifi egg. While there is no bath tub, the shower had good water pressure and the water temperature was consistent. Overall, we are happy with our room. It could do with a luggage rack and a chain lock on the room door.

Location is perfect - almost every type of service within easy access. To the right of the hotel, there is a convenience store 'C.U.' and three mom and pop shops selling deepfried chicken and beer, Chinese stir fries and Korean homestyle food such as bibimbap, gimbap and jigae. An Olive Young store, a drugstore, McDonalds and Paris Baguette Cafe can be found several steps further down the road. Opposite the alley facing the hotel entrance, there is a Starbucks Cafe and another convenience store 'GS 25', both located in B1 of the office building, Namsan State Tower. An underpass at the edge of the State Tower leads to Hoehyeon Underground Arcade and Namdaemun Market. When it rained while we were exploring Namdaemun, we would retreat to the underground arcade to continue shopping.

New Oriental Hotel is located between two metro stations, Hoehyeon and Myeongdong. It is actually a short walk away from the Myeongdong Station and the airport bus stop. However, the walk with luggage turned out to be quite a hassle due to the sloping and unevenly tiled kerbs and lanes, and the crowds of people. The bus fare for #6015 to Incheon Airport has increased from ₩10,000 to ₩15,000. Now there are three seats per row (2 x 1) compared with four seats per row (2 × 2) previously. If you have a late night flight out of Incheon, it is advisable to get your VAT refunds processed at the reclaim agents/partners in Myeongdong, as Incheon's airside cash refund counters close at 9:00pm sharp.

Among the hotels along Toegyero, Ninetree Hotel, L7 Hotel and Skypark III Hotel are nearer the main shopping area and the airport bus stop, but their room rates are also higher. Rooms at Days Hotel, Pacific Hotel and Sejong Hotel also cost more than New Oriental Hotel, but those (room only without breakfast) at Loisir Hotel and Prince Hotel cost slightly less. We would happily return to New Oriental Hotel for future stays in Myeongdong, provided the room rates stay competitive.

We had travelled to Korea many times over the last few years and this year, we decided to try New Oriental Hotel, Seoul this round from 4 to 6/7 Sept 2015 and the kind of ABSURB service we received from the hotel staffs were top of the range.
Our itinerary for this trip was very short it was mostly a weekend trip and all of us basically took the red eye flight and arrive early morning in Korea. Simply put, we didn’t have much rest and since we have a very tight schedule in the day, we were looking to properly check into the hotel and head out.

Incident 1 - Upon arrival at the hotel and after checking in and proceeding to our room, we realized that the hotel made a mistake for one of the room and after informing the hotel, we had a change of room. After freshening up, we proceeded to the front desk to return the key of the previous wrong room and we were served by front desk personnel, JANE KANG. JANE KANG was really RUDE and gave us a very bad attitude when tried to return the wrong key and explained the situation to her. Her tone of her response was very RUDE and she just said “I didn’t handle the case and you have to wait for my colleague return!” We have a very tight schedule with no time to waste and all we wanted to do was to return the hotel the WRONG KEY! This was incident ONE…

Incident 2 - The same night, at 4am, our friend’s room received a call from someone at the reception asking for her name! Seriously which freaking Hotel at their right state of mind calls the guest’s room at 4am in the morning to ask for the guest’s name! In the morning, we went by to the reception to complain about this and enquire why the reception called the guest room at 4am in the morning asking for the guest’s name (the reception had records and confirmed that they made the call to the room) and due to that, caused our friend a sleepless night. The front desk personnel serving us this round is Becca, Becca was the only compliment we have of New Oriental Hotel. Becca was nice, polite and tried to help. Back to the complaint, we have asked for the reason why would they do that and how is the Hotel going to compensate us for pulling such a stunt of calling at 4am, now we have not ask for full refund but a 50% refund for that night and a Manager, James who was beside Becca commented to Becca in Korean and said that we were RIDICULOUS he assumed that we do not understand Korean as we don’t speak it, for a Manager, to be making such comments on your guest and assuming the guest doesn’t understand, such service is horrible. Becca said she will contact the management and check on the compensation and that evening, we are informed that we will be given a full refund for that night.
Now we would have thought that all incident had been resolved, but no the Hotel manages to create more incident and situation for the group.

Incident 3 - A couple of us are going back 1 day later than the rest so one of our rooms had an additional night and are checking out on Monday. So on Sunday, while we were out, at around 3pm our friend who is checking out on Monday received a text from the Hotel mention “are you XXX from Room XXX” (by the way this is the same friend whose room had received the call at 4am previously). Having receiving such a text, our friend was worried what would have happened and we decided to shorten our shopping and head back to the hotel to see what is wrong.

Incident 4 - Upon arriving at the hotel, the same rude receptionist JANE KANG with the hands folded at the back, upon seeing us, in a very rude and blaming tone said “Why are your luggage still in the room and why have you not checked out!”. We told her the room was supposed to check out on Monday and today is Sunday, upon hearing this, Jane Kang when to check her reservation records and emails then she realized that the room was indeed supposed to checkout on Monday. Without apologizing, she even pushes the blame and said that her reservation department did not inform them and that she had no idea. That is the Hotel’s internal situation, it has nothing to do with the guest and to have caused the guest so many inconveniences for that short weekend is really the most absurd I have experienced!

Never stay in this New Oriental Hotel in Seoul, the services of their manager, James and the receptionist Jane Kang is ridiculous. They were rude, irresponsible and give their guest attitude and shows snobbish face to the guest. To be frank, having work in the hotel industry myself, the services at New Oriental Hotel, Seoul is worse that a budget or boutique hotel.

The only compliment we have of this hotel is the staff Becca, she was friendly and sweet always try her best to help the guest and welcomes you with a smile.
Never ever will we stay at New Oriental Hotel, Seoul again and we definitely will not recommend it to our friends or anyone at all.

I was pretty skeptic when I booked this hotel for the reason that the reviews I read on Tripadvisor were almost bad. But when we arrived, I was very impressed. Albeit it's only a 3 star hotel, but these are the very things that make the hotel ONE of the best:

1.) Impeccable SERVICE from the staff (Adele, Jane and Jacob are your to go girls/boy); they can talk and converse in English and you can always ask them where to go and teach you how to go there

2.) LOCATION. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to Myeongdong shopping district; very accessible to airport bus stop (HOW TO GO THERE FROM INCHEON AIRPORT: just ride (number) "6015" airport bus (price: 10,000 won per head) and go down in Myeongdong bus stop. It's easy to know that you're in your destination since every stop is being announced in the speakers of the bus, both in English and Korean language. When you get down, you cross the street and walk to your right where Paris Baguette is, then walk for 3 minutes and you can see the signage of the hotel. The hotel is across the street of Days Hotel and/ or Isaac Toast); this is so near Namsan Cable Car and N Tower. In going to Namsan Cable Car, it is two blocks from the hotel and you can ask the staff how to get there.

3.) CLEAN ROOMS. The room is small, BUT, the bed is comfy and their bathroom is spacious and nice. So if you're a person who values the cleanliness and spaciousness of a bathroom/ toilet, then this is it for you.

4.) BUDGET FRIENDLY. This is the hotel if you're travelling on a budget but would not compromise the luxury of staying in a hotel.

Definitely would go back to Seoul and stay in this hotel- AGAIN. Two thumbs up!

PS.
The hotel is near to some famous restaurants to try, like, a.) TwoTwo Chicken b.) Myeongdong Kyoja c.) Isaac Toast, and d.) Baek Jeong (Korean BBQ)

Yes the hotel's location is truly exceptional A++! However....

I booked their Standard Double Room based on the photos i saw in Agoda website, but was really shocked to see it in actual -- room was too small and the sink was located INSIDE THE BEDROOM (yes, outside the bathroom), adjacent to the bedroom. This is too weird for us and was definitely the one they advertised in their page so I insisted that they transfer us to another room. We were fortunately upgraded to a Standard Twin Room, which is more spacious and the sink was appropriately located in the bathroom. I specifically liked how big and clean the room was, and that their beds were really soft and comfortable.

One more thing we didn't like was the fact that for a 3-star hotel, they do not have any bellboys. We had 2 Strollers and 4 carry-ons when we checked in & we were expecting help on their end to transfer our luggages to our room on the 7th floor, but to no avail. The lady from the lobby said nobody will assist us, not even her. This also affected our requests (ice, toiletries etc) via their intercom, since they only have limited employees we had no choice but to wait too long before we get our requests.

Will try other hotels the next time we travel to Korea.

This was my 5th trip to Seoul but it was my first time staying in this hotel.. I stayed there for 10 nights with my family (2 adults and 2 kids). We booked the biggest room and it's comes with a balcony.. I have to say that it was the best hotel I have stayed in Seoul. I stayed in the nearby hotel like Prince, Pacific, the grand myeongdong before but this is the best so far.. even though the hotel look v small but their staff and cleanliness make up for everything.. Namsan Tower is just behind the hotel and there are many nice and affordable restaurants around it. Korean chicken, BBQ etc etc.. u name it they have it.

It is a hotel that make u feel really like home. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I have to compliment Adele who helps us to make reservation at Hancock at namsan Tower and also helps me with directions on finding my "to buy items" and also Grace who are extremely helpful in helping my hb in finding his ⚽ jersey through Internet as their website are all in korean. All the staff are ready to assist and I highly recommend this hotel to anybody who intend to visit korea.

Btw they dun have bell boys in the hotel but the male staff there saw us with 7 luggages. They helped us with them.. I will definately be back if I visit seoul again.
