This hostel is the best hostel ever and with the nicest people. I really felt like home every time i got there and yousef and radwa really helped me out with everything. The price is the best and it includes the best and complete breakfast ive seen in hostels. It is very clean also. Im very happy with my experience there. I really hope to see them again soon. If i needed food, they would order it for me, if i wanted a beer they would go get it for me. If i needed to go to the farmacy they would go with me so i could know the way. They are my egyptian family.
I spent 5 nights in Cairo at The Castle Hostel. As I didn’t plan on spending too much time in my accommodation, I wanted a base that was central, clean, affordable and friendly. I chose perfectly. The hostel is on the 15th floor of a fairly run down old tower building but it’s a safe haven once you’re inside. The staff were great - they’re like a family, super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. They did some laundry for me, and are happy to prepare an early breakfast if you need it. They gave me a triple room on my first night - it was basic but ok - but moved me to a twin room next day. This was much more comfortable (especially the bathroom). WiFi was ok - not great, but good enough. The staff asked me how they could improve and I suggested a couple of things: - breakfast is served on a tray each day. It’s ok for a day or two but it’s the same each day and it gets a bit monotonous. - the elevators aren’t great. I never felt comfortable in them. I was stuck in one for a few minutes. And on one occasion the other opened its doors almost a metre below the floor level so I had to climb out! Tip - Cairo is pretty full on. If you want some R&R for a day, some of the hotels let you pay for a day pass to use the pool and relax. Can be money well spent!…
Castle Hotel is on Ramsis St.You need to find Maarof Tower and hotel at 15th floor.Elevator is good however a little bit slow but this is not a problem. Area is very good, heart of downtown very near nile, Egyptian museum, nasr metro subway, midan square, tahrir square, buses and go bus tahrir station to go intercities. There are also alot of sellers and restaurants especially Koshary Rest Abu Tarek very good and near. You can visit the area after 10-11pm, there will be no problem. Hotel checkin is very good. I have come to early and they immediately offered me a room. This hotel completely renovated, rooms clean, beds and pillow cosy, now every room has bathroom, there was towels, soap, toilet paper but no shampou this is minor problem. Another minor problem there was no trashcan for the room. I think that there should be two chair and table to see gorgeous nile, cairo tower and main road from balcony. Ac is very good and silence. For the room sometimes alot of noises and horn sounds come to the room. Breakfast was enough for me croissant , bread, yoghurt, honey, omlet, jam and tea/coffee. Wifi is also so so sometimes feels slowness. All of staff treats to you as a family, always helpfull and smiling. You can pay either cash or visa. Overall is very good and looking for good budget hotel in Cairo …
