Wonderful location and staff
A wonderful stay with a caring professional staff. The location is also amazing, walking distance to the Egyptian Museum, Zamalek, and Tahrir square. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay memorable and a special thank you to Anna for guiding us and giving us a lot of tips about where to go and what to eat.

Must stay hotel in Cairo
First things first, it’s worth mentioning that we arrived extremely early in the morning like around 6am and were able to settle in at that time with no questions asked. Thank you #1.
Also, we have got upgraded to Nile view room on 14th floor and treated with some complimentary fruits upon check in. Thank you #2. Housekeeping service is on a top level as well as all the hotel staff that helped us to enjoy this stay.
Another fact is that the hotel has a lot of security guards and at least two security check gates that make you feel really safe and comfortable in this hotel like being in your own fortress. Also, we had to check out late and didn’t meet any resistance from the reception desk team that let us check out at 7pm, so summing it up we stayed 18 hrs additionally due to some unforeseen circumstances in our schedule, but thanks to the hotel team we felt like we didn’t have any inconveniences at all. Thank you #3.
The only minor improvement that hotel needs to work on is the quantity of electrical outlets in the room. We found only two available outlets (unfortunately, not even close to the beds) that we could use for our purposes, but considering the fact that we had a camera, two cell phones and two powerbanks it was a bit complicated and time consuming for us to get fully charged and ready to go.
Despite this fact, I can highly recommend InterContinental Cairo Semiramis and will definitely come back to this place to enjoy my stay with this spectacular Nile view!
Sorry, I didn’t take any pictures at the hotel, but I have attached some photos of Cairo Street life, so you guys can try to feel the beauty of this city 😉

Excellent Housekeeping Service
I was lucky that i styed with my famly in 17 floor room 1700 & 1702 , my room was arranged in a perfect way as Ms Mona and Mr Salaheldin and Mr. Mahdi has Arranged for me , the view from the room awesome,
The architecture and design of the hotel lobby and first floor of this hotel are fantastic and beyond words .They epitomize a modern atmosphere but with Middle Eastern aesthetics like the oversized brass lamps and carved wood details. But the staff is really the hotel's best asset. They are so friendly and helpful, especially the very gracious Ms Warda in tea garden , Nile terrace options to watch the sun set over the river, offer a varied fare from Italian, Lebanese and Thai and the morning buffet breakfast is very efficiently organized and bountiful with tables that have a view of the Nile. It is beneficial to join the IHG rewards club for the rooms on the upper floors which have panoramic views and damp the noise from the busy streets. Special perks like an iron and ironing board keep one looking fresh for business meetings and all rooms have balconies, complimentary bottled water and tea/coffee pots, tubs as well as showers, cloud like beds and pillows, bathrobes, slippers, hairdryers and mini bar (although the refrigerators could be a bit colder)and in room central heating/air controls. Housekeeping is impeccable and your room and valuables are always secure. Internet access is reliable. The Business Center is also helpful for any business need including copies, scans,
The location of the hotel is also one of the best in Cairo along the Nile, a short walk to the centrally located downtown for easy taxi access anywhere in the city
greatest , Best and classic hotel in the heart of Cairo.

Really Trying Very Hard
Cairo is a hardscrabble, bustling, loud, overcrowded, and crumbling city. After you pass the bomb-sniffing dogs and trunk check security, after your luggage is screened and you go through individual airport security to enter, you will find yourself in a bubble of activity, efficiency and smoke. Yes, smoking is allowed almost everywhere—and there are lots of smokers! The hotel itself is full of friendly, very helpful and responsive staff. And western prices. The rooms are very comfortable, and as clean as is possible in this desert climate. The food offerings are impressive—from the gentleman who will make your eggs in front of you to the large number of prepared dishes, fresh fruit, pastries and breads at breakfast to the Italian, Thai, sushi and other restaurants. They do everything to make your stay comfortable.

Remember that small tips are generally expected—so if you ask for extra water, more towels, a hair dryer or your suitcases are brought up to your room, have some small bills ready to hand out.

Also, try to get a room with a Nile view. It is an iconic view. The rest of the area surrounding the hotel is not much to look at.

Rude Staff
To be fair, we didn't stay one whole night. We arrived to this hotel as a part of our tour package 'with MISR Travel so we didn't select it ourselves. We had a very long day and had been up for 24 hours flying in from Luxor in the very early morning after being up all night, straight into sightseeing from the airport all day so we didn't look perfectly presentable at check-in.

We are seasoned travelers and we hate roller luggage so we use backpacks because it makes it easier to be mobile. They are not Louis Vuitton, they are not classy or pretty, the airport covered them in sand ad dust but they serve us well and we have used them around the world. Why mention this? I don't know, maybe because to the desk clerk who checked us in, we looked like peasants or lowlives because he was pretty rude. He asked us for a deposit. Normal request to ask for a deposit but with his accent I heard him say $15, so we handed him $15. He nastily repeated himself and said $50 (it still sounded like $15 to me, but I understood from his demeanor that he thought we were trying to rip him off). I explained that we rarely carry US dollars in cash so we would use a card and then with the same attitude he said that there would be a long hold for it to clear. Well hey, thanks for that but we're not poor.

Same clerk later, once we had showered ánd went down to eat somewhere in the hotel didnt let us know that one of the restaurants we were looking for wasn't even open. It was darkened and no one was there. Unhelpful guy. We ended up not bothering to eat in the hotel and went back to our room when we found out that Turkey was shutting out all flights from Egypt after 8 am so we had to focus on getting out of the country before we couldn't

We were traveling during the pandemic and arrived just hours before Turkey, our next destination closed incoming flights from Egypt and a friend in Turkey messaged us to get out. Due to that we had to switch our flight to an earlier flight to make it out in time and had to rush out to the airport at midnight. Another night of no sleep.

Our tour manager handled the checkout so I didn't have to see the rude person again. The hotel room was clean, comfortable and the hotel was in a good location but due to this one person, I would never choose this place again. There are plenty of other choices where I am not judged solely on appearance that would be happy to treat me with respect. We were at the Marriott Mena House the week before for two nights where the service was impeccable, friendly, and where I will spend my tourist dollars the next time I stay in Cairo.

I absolutely plan to return to Egypt and will add that this was the only time I encountered someone who was impolite. A pity it was on our last night and left such a bad taste in my mouth. The security guards who asked to hold onto my binoculars (they are not permitted in this hotel, perhaps because of its proximity to the US Embassy so I had to check them in) were nicer than this person.

Comfortable Hotel with a lot of amenities
A very large older hotel that seems like grand central station because it is so big that it lacks warmth but is in a very convenient location and it has everything you need. We stayed in the upgraded room which was quite large and nicely appointed. We were located at the end of the hall and in a corner and it turned out to be great with two balconies. We were able to use the executive lounge on 18th floor, which we could get free waters, sodas, coffee, snacks any time of the day. However, They do not serve alcohol in the lounge. There are many restaurants in the hotel; Indian, Lebanese, Italian, American. They have a great spa area with a well equipped gym, steam room, sauna, massage area, Relaxation area, outdoor pool, etc. and it’s free. it’s absolutely lovely and the pool area overlooks the city. Breakfast couldn’t be better with a huge selection. I would definitely stay here again because of the location, friendly and helpful staff and spacious rooms. The staff can’t do enough for you and make you feel welcomed. Only negative is that the pillows we had were terrible; either too soft or as hard as a rock.

Terrible Service!
The moment you walk in the doors you are met with frowns and unfriendly faces. I ask for something as simple as a mug and I need to call 3 times and have my call transferred between room service and housekeeping. Their lack of communication and reluctance to serve was a common complaint for other guests staying there. What really shocked me was giving my sister a room with a single bed when she paid full price for a double room to share with her daughter. The gentleman at the desk was rude and raised his voice when she asked to change the room.
The view is the only good thing there, not the rooms and bathrooms need serious renovation.

Nice view - friendly staff - very good maintenance
Location: In front of the Nile with very nice view. Location in Cairo it depends where you have to go. Cairo traffic is crazy! I was there for a professional trip.
Room: The room size was really comfortable and the bathroom renovated and big. Comfortable balcony with nice view (noisy though due to the busy area)
Cleanliness: Very clean and fresh bed sheets. The staff on the floor were very friendly and were asking me if i need anything and what time is convenient for me to enter and clean.
Breakfast: The breakfast was a surprise. Very friendly and smiley staff, many different kind of fresh juices and local traditional staff being cooked on the spot - like falafel, local bread etc.
Hospitality - service: All the staff was smiley and friendly doing their best to help.
Parking: The parking was not free there for us, we were surprised on the matter, they were charging per hour.

A day by the pool
Back to reviews... back to life
Spent a day by the pool and it was amazing, especially after such long time spent isolated due to Covid-19.
Finally the pool is open taking the maximum safety and precaution needed, always cleaning and making sure that everyone follow the rules, even giving away gloves and masks. Sanitizers are every where and temperature taken before entry...
Time to spend some time outdoor...

Disappointed
I usually book Intercontinental Hotels when I'm travelling and this is the worst experience I have never had. Rooms are very noisy due to heavy traffic around the hotel, windows are not unsound enough to ensure your rest. Rooms are communicated each other which means you can listen and smell your neighbours. Smoking is allowed in all hotel so you will smell tobacco during your stay. No housekeeping are coming for regular cleaning even if you tag your room as "clean it", as per IHG team we should request in advance the room cleaning.
Shower was broken upon arrival and technician took time to fix it instead of change our room. Lack of security staff who allows drunk people to shout and knock the doors in the corridors at midnight.
No sunbeds available in the pool area for the amount of guests we were there.
Booking done for spa via telephone and it was not communicated so when we arrived to the scheduled time we didn't have space.
I scalated these concerns to concierge staff and assistant manager but not actions were done.
After our second night there we decided to cancel our reservation and move to another hotel.
