On the banks of the Nile Hotel Al Baeirat is situated within a banana plantation. Like a little village it blends into the neighbourhood and is built of country-specific architecture with domed structure which is traditionally made of clay. Off the beaten track you can enjoy the silence and the egyptian style in a private and friendly atmosphere. For relaxation we are offering the whole family a wonderful swimming pool directly on the banks of the Nile. From our patio which is overlooking the Nile we are serving egyptian titbits. While sipping your coffee or drinking a cool beer you can let your eyes wander to the town of Luxor on the opposite shore and at night watch the bright lights of the incoming cruise liners. In the neighbourhood you will find numerous temple complexes, the Valley of the Kings and many more sights.

Great hotel in a fantastic location. Ideally situated on the West Bank for many tourist attractions and temples etc. The rooms have a unique design and are secluded. The hotel also offers a free boat transfer across the river to the east bank when needed.
The owner/manager was so helpful and spoke perfect English. The pool overlooks the Nile and the restaurant serves good quality food.
Overall, a great hotel we would use again when returning to Luxor.

Very quiet and charming hotel on the west bank of the Nile. If you want to escape the chaos of the city and rest with good views, good service and tranquility, this hotel is highly recommended. It is not a typical hotel, the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is quite relaxed, a bit "hippie". A pleasure to have breakfast in front of the Nile watching the city of Luxor and in a place surrounded by nature. The rooms are basic but have everything you need. The treatment and cordiality of its employees make it 5 stars... I would choose it without a doubt if I return to Luxor in the future.

We had a great stay for 4 days at the hotel. It is on a human scale with staff always available and pleasant. The rooms are large and clean. We enjoyed the swimming pool and meals at the hotel restaurant. The only negative point is the price of the excursions but it is compensated by the price of the rooms and meals. We will definitely return to this hotel if we return to Luxor.

This hotel was definitely great. This is no longer the case: no more greenery, no maintenance, reception and surroundings left abandoned, very dirty tables and benches at the "restaurant", more than average meal, breakfast underneath everything (plates placed on a counter and left there for hours, bread in the open air so dry, no juice, soluble coffee...
The staff erupts and vegetates without caring for customers, watches TV, cleans nothing, leaves garbage on the tables...
We have been devoured by insects (not mosquitoes), ants or sandflies or bedbugs.
It is impossible to enjoy the (icy) pool as the surroundings are dirty, with dilapidated furniture.
The rooms are decent and the bungalows remain pretty despite the lack of maintenance around.

Absolutely the best find in Luxor, a lovely hidden gem. Away from the bustle of the city on the West side easily access to the Valley of the Kings and Queens. Only a short boat trip across the Nile for he Temples. Lovely cottage rooms with plenty of space and quiet. Felt surreal having a swim in the pool overlooking the Nile. Had a lovely sunset cruise free of charge from the hotel. Food was great too and highly recommend the curry. Only wished stayed longer.

It's a traditional hotel, far away from the hustle and bustle of the West Bank. It's zero star but you get what you pay for. The owner Mohammed is really only interested in making money from tourists so as soon as he new I wasn't a cash cow all pretence of friendliness was out the window. It's also full of locals illegally drinking to the early hours every night.

My friend arranged for me a regular driver. He came to pick me up to go to Kings Valley and wanted to use my iPad. He was Apple mad and excited to use it while I had a mint tea. 2 of the staff said something which upset him and we left and never again would the driver come to the hotel. All very strange.

A couple of days later the owner said I should not have been hanging around with this driver and he could arrange my trips. I said no thank you, he was cheap and reliable and had been driving friends of mine who live in Luxor for over 5 years. He was a good guide also and was approved after attending university.

That night when I got back the owner said my driver was waiting for you a long time. I said I will not be using him. Mohammed the owner got very aggressive and said this is my land, my hotel, if you don't like my rules please leave. He became aggressive and was shouting like a mad man and many other egyptians where egging him on.

I packed my bags and left. I urge anyone to avoid this place. Was the owner flips he is a dangerous man.

The staff accused us of being gay and told us to leave, they had six to eight men that made us leave and called us names that I can't put on here, They are very homophobic and aggressive.

As they were throwing us out two of the men tried to punch us in the face.

The setting is lovely but if you are a westerner and even slightly different to them do not stay there.

We were fortunate enough to have a car and this was our escape. We went to the tourist Police to complain and they lied accusing if finding us naked.

They are not nice people, and the attitude of the people was really bad.

I've never known anything like it to be beaten and thrown from a hotel for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

My stay at this hotel was initially very pleasant, location, accomodation etc but there was a very uncomfortable situation when using the pool as its location on the banks of the Nile means that tourists arrive by motor boat. The problem is that the motorboat drivers then wander around the pool area, lingering and staring at the female tourists, also lone Egyptian men are allowed to swim in the pool. This is most unusual in Egypt as reputable hotels do not permit male Egyptians to do this

A wonderful gem on the West Bank only 8 bungalows all semi detached each individually decorated in typical Egyptian themes, Large rooms with seating area and faboulous bathrooms connecting door for use for familys. Each bungalow has own outdoor garden for alfresco dining and drinking. The hotel is set in a banana plantation and next to a sleepy village and near to the new Banana Island cafe restaurant. Hotel has fabulous swimming pool and sun loungers right next to the Nile. The restaurant which seves breakfast lunch and dinner over looking the Nile. Food I had was superb Fish wonderful. Chicken Tagine and various breads exceptional. This hotel is a dream come true and only 10 minutes by motorboat to cross the Nile to Lively Luxor City. The motor boat owned by hotel will transport you free of charge. Owner Mahmoud Omar and his lovely staff cannot do enough for you. All sights and excursions can be arranged through the managment at very reasonable prices. Have been to Luxor many times but this hotel is truly a Gem. Will definatly return.

We found this hotel by accident when out on a motorboat on the River Nile and our driver suggested stopping here for a drink. We loved the place as soon as we got off the boat and booked to return for two nights. The hotel has a beautiful swimming pool with waterfalls on the banks of the Nile and has a fantastic restaurant/ cafe. We had many meals here and they were all fantastic and brilliant value. The rooms are lovely. The hotel is built within a banana plantation with eight bungalows surrounded by banana trees and each with their own small garden and seating area. The rooms are also interconnecting to make larger family rooms if needed. The hotel also has it's own farm and all of the fruit and vegetables that are served in the restaurant are freshly picked when you order your meal. The hotel is situated on the West Bank directly opposite the Sheraton Hotel over the River Nile. It is surrounded by small Villages which makes it very quiet and feels quite isolated, but they have a free motor boat to take you anywhere you want to go and we were back in busy Luxor in less than 10 minutes. We booked this hotel to escape the madness of Luxor for a few days and could not have been happier with our choice. It really felt like we were in a deserted paradise and the prices are so reasonable that it's worth staying for a few nights even if your on a package holiday just to experience a different part of Luxor. Mahmoud and his staff are also lovely and will make you feel very welcome.
