Had a spur of the moment visit, for a conference in Luxor and, although I'd normally stay at the main Winter Palace, this was fully booked, but I was able to find B&B accommodation in the Pavillion wing at a very good rate, so this was a first time here for me.

Check-in was friendly, quick and easy, while the room was perfectly adequate for even a longer stay, being clean, well-furnished and with comfortable twin beds; note that there's a separate entrance to the Pavilion wing, at the northern end of the Winter Palace facade, and you walk through the gardens to the Pavilion.

The decor is more modern than at the old hotel, which is the equivalent of a listed building, in the UK, and while probably not up to date with the latest fashions, perfectly acceptable, with everything working. The balcony had seating and a lovely view over the pools and gardens, with an oblique view that just enabled me to see the Corniche and part of the West Bank.

Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand sanitiser are provided, though these are easily enough obtained from the supermarket on Medina Street.

Breakfast, in the Bougainville restaurant, can be taken indoors or outside and, while not as extensive as that at La Corniche, in the main hotel, is perfectly adequate; I didn't partake of room service, so can't comment on other meals.

In hotel Wifi is free, with a code from reception, and very good,

The location is great, especially if you know the way to the staff entrance, which gets you immediately into the non0tourist parts of Luxor, and is also convenient for several banks and Luxor Temple, which is pretty much immediately north to the hotel.

The rates are considerably lower than for the old hotel, but you can use most of the facilities, apart from breakfast in their restaurant, which is a considerable bonus.

Check out was efficient and, as my prebooked taxis wasn't due for 1.5 hours after checking out time, they looked after my luggage, and I was permitted to lounge around the hotel and gardens until it was time to leave.

Over-all, a most enjoyable stay, at a new to me, property, and definitely an option I'd both consider for the future and recommend to others.

Pavillon Winter Luxor staff are one of the most welcoming I have come across, from checkin at midnight to morning breakfast to late checkouts to in-room dining. They have an all star team, Mr.Mohammed from the Room service always greets with a smile and their chef serves excellent delicacies; do try their Fish Samiya, mixed grill and steak. Another stand out team member was Ms. Asmaa at reception who was very helpful, courteous and welcoming. Besides staff, the hotels rooms were very soacious, we got connecting family rooms, ample and timely water bottles, fresh local fruit basket, very well maintained gardens and excellent views from the balcony. Other amenities were at par with most 5 star hotels, including an organic loofah ;)
Great housekeeping and very good selection of food for breakfast with extended timings from 5:30am to 10:30am, theres also a box breakfast option if you are in a rush for your tour. I would highly recommend the hotel for any tourists visiting Luxor, its location is 20mins drive from the airport and minutes walk from Luxor Temple and the Nile Cruises boarding point.

The Hotel shares the same wonderful gardens and all facilities with Hotel Winter Palace Luxor, a historic, colonial style Hotel.
Pavillon Winter is a newer building but boasts large rooms, great service and breakfast, beautiful and serene gardens, large swimming pool and two great restaurants at Winter Palace. You can book a table at the reception of Pavillon Winter for those.
There is an ATM at the entrance.
Luxor temple is 2 minutes walk from the Hotel (turn right as you leave the Hotel. Upon reaching the Temple, go to the right along the fence in order to get to the entrance a bit further up. Do not go into the mosque, the entrance to Luxor is just past the mosque. Signs are non existent.)
There is a constant crowd awaiting just outside the Hotel offering horse drawn carriage rides in Luxor, boats for the Nile, Taxis to Luxor, Karnak etc. If you go for it on your own make sure you make clear negotiations beforehand if you don't want to pay extra at the end at the end of the tour (ensure price is for everyone and not per person, explain that you do not want them to take you to shops, whether the Taxi will wait for you etc.)

We loved everything about this hotel. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help. From front desk, room attendant, breakfast staff, and security we were always treated kindly.
We booked driver for the day tour from hotel reception- they have a travel company to ensure good standards for guests and for 50 USD we were very happy with the price.
Breakfast was very nice and the pool was a lovely warm temperature
Rooms are kept spotless and all amenities are of a very high standard
We would definitely return, watching the flamingos roam around the grounds is amazing

The hotel has some nice things, especially customer service and location. Food is okay and the outdoor areas are very pretty.

On the other side the facilities need more care (updates) and cleanliness. You can tell the carpet in the rooms is not being vacuumed as there was hair all over in my room and my family's room. The breakfast is buffet style and can use more sanitary precautions especially during covid.

It is ok hotel for the price but don't go expecting luxury of a 5-star hotel.

The Pavillian is a new hotel built in the grounds of the iconic Winter Palace. It shares the garden, the lunch facilities but you have to go into the Palace for an evening meal. Sadly, the Palace is a shadow of its former self. Everyone stayed there, from movie stars to royalty. Smoking is still allowed in the bar and being very anti we gave both restaurants a miss. The Pavillian, is adequate but a kettle in the room would have been nice. The one high light of the day was breakfast in the garden, made so by Mohamod Rodon, who made every lady feel special. Nothing was too much trouble. Heaps of flowers on your table, his cocktail of fruit juices and a large smile.
Luxor, since the Arab Spring, has had little in the way of tourists. In the past 95% of the money that it generated was from tourism, which leaves many families on the bread line. Which accounts for the hassle that you get from everyone. To hire a cab, move way from the hotel entrance, they are far more expensive there. We found a lovely gentleman to drive us, Mohamed Omar 002 0100 267 35 20. Down lode Whats App before you travel, as everyone uses that and you can phone him and home for free, using the free wi fi in the hotel. He gave us fair prices, waited as long as we wanted at any historic site and is a very good driver. And that you need in Luxor.
Have a great time!

The location of the hotel is its greatest asset and the beautiful gardens which provide a quiet oasis from the rush of Luxor, yet still walking distance to the temple, the museum and lots of good restaurants. Meret at the front desk was excellent but the rest of the staff were not so good :( The breakfast was very good with eggs cooked to order, but sausages etc that were supposed to be hot, weren't. The breakfast hours were sensible, 5.30-10.30 for travellers going out early and those not, well done.
We arrived late in the evening to find that our room didn't have the listed tea/coffee maker and it was hard work even to get a kettle to boil some water! The shower needs a plumber to adjust the shower rose so that it doesn't land on your head whilst showering! The lighting was poor.....putting on mascara a challenge. Maintenance generally needs some work. The bed was hard, but made more comfy by putting a towel in under the sheet. The smoking policy could be improved by locating the huge outdoor ashtray for the smokers to finish their ciggy just before they enter the restaurant to 10metres away, so that non-smokers and asthmatics don't have to walk through the cloud of smoke both going into and out of the restaurant!! Fancy thinking of that! Could be a fantastic hotel with some work, but as it is, value for money in the best location.

The Pavillon no longer has a restaurant to cater for an evening meal, but to be honest, guests have mostly gone out for meals over the last 15 years anyway. Guests can use the restaurants, bar and Victoria Room in the Winter Palace. The La Corniche restaurant there does á la carte and also a fixed price buffet. I’m a small eater – I went for the á la carte.
Room service I found no different to any other hotel I’ve stayed in
Breakfast has to cater for guests from all countries, but I always found something.
The swimming pool area is one of the best in Luxor. Food is served by your sunbed or you can go to the EL Nakhil Pool Bar. My favourite dishes include the Caesar Salad and the Iced Nougat.
I found the back gate a good way to avoid the touts out the front on the Corniche, with their cries of Tax?, Caleche?, Felucca?, Motor-Boat? the minute you are in their sight before you have even left the hotel.
Downsides – Other guests in both hotels going on about what they should have had with their loyalty card i.e. Room Upgrades - They were missing out the words “Subject to availability”. Both hotels were often at 100% occupancy during my stay.
Guests saying the hotel needs an upgrade - When they do all the upgrades in both hotels as they did in the Old Cataract, the prices will go up as they did in the Old Cataract. My review is headed “Value for money” – It is.

I have been disappointed with the Winter Pavillon hotel. Although it benefits from the Palace's facilities (garden and pool, which are both equally lovely), the Winter Pavillon does not have services worth meeting 5-star-hotel standards. The wifi did not work for 3 days (annoying when I was there to do work) and staff, as sorry as they were, lack transparency and honesty in accepting they would not know when the service would be accessible to guests. My room was spacious and the balcony was nice, but everything was outdated; my TV did not work and there are no tea/coffee maker in the room (which is now common in 5-star hotels).
Breakfast was good, although not exactly COVID friendly.
Prices were attractive, but I won't stay there again. I checked out early and found much better service elsewhere.

Our family of five stayed six nights in this hotel across New Year and enjoyed a great holiday here.

The pavilion hotel is aging yes but watching the most extraordinary tropical garden from your two terraces on 5th floor, as well as the historical winter palace hotel is awesome.

Lots of beautiful plant & tree species, hoopoes, flamingos, pretty Christmas deco… a delight!

Having 2 large rooms next to each other was very confortable for parents and children, and the place was very clean. Water bottles for five every day.

The Pool area is really pleasant and the staff ready and happy to help with any request you have. Same for lovely terraced breakfast area looking into the garden. The team there was agile in assigning tables in the lovely morning sun. Maybe the buffet could be improved for some tastes, but the freshly made omelettes and pancakes were delicious.

The location is sensational, not only because one can book the main hotel historical restaurant and enjoy the superb garden but also very easy access for water taxis to the West Bank, boarding feluccas for sailing at sunset, visiting the Luxor temple or the zouk.

Many reputed local restaurants within walking distance too.

The reception team happily booked a couple of restaurants for us and printed boarding passes.

We did not try excursions organised from
The hotel as we had our own local agency taking care of us. Tried however the Gadis shop at the feet of the hotel offering interesting books on local history and culture, and lovely pictures of Luxor and the Winter palace in very early 20th century.

All the rest was simply perfect and we will certainly be back at this hotel and recommend it for visits to Luxor.

A big thank you to the entire team for making our time at Luxor so wonderful!

Are non-residents allowed to go for a drink in the bar (and walk around the gardens)?

There is no bar in the Pavillon itself. There are bars in the garden and the Winter Palace. You can wander the gardens, eat at the pool restaurant during the day and eat in the Winter Palace restaurants. For the WP however, there is a dress code and if you wanted a meal in one of the restaurants, it is best to book. The Royal Bar does snacks, but they ARE snacks!
Answer from Salim Isaf

Meals weren’t expensive, say about 20% above neighbouring restaurant prices, I don’t remember the prices. Food quality and taste was much better than other touristy restaurants. Their breakfast is very good, includes continental and freshly cooked local dishes.
Answer from Sale1007
United Kingdom1,301 contribution97 helpful votes
The Pavillon was built around 1988 and is lower cost, although, in my opinion, it generally has larger rooms and each has a large balcony Yes, you can use all the facilities of the WP, but note that the WP has a dress code (more at night than daytime) e.g. For gents, Long Trousers for the Royal Bar. The 1886 is Long trousers and jacket, the Corniche, just long trousers. Accors/Sofitel only own one hotel in Egypt (In Taba). The rest are owned by a Government organisation EGOTH. Sofitel only manage the hotels for them.

Pavillon Hotel is just an annex of Winter Palace at lower price but using the same garden, restaurants and swimmingpool. Same Management. Use Accor website.
