A wonderful hotel and experience. Giraffe Manor is a fantastic place. Whilst the giraffes are the stars of the show, the staff complete a memorable visit. A highly recommended visit of a lifetime.

Property's Favourite Review
We did a 17 day safari trip to Kenya where we visited 3 game lodges and Giraffe Manor. This was our second safari trip (we did one in March 2020, right before the world shut down) so I had a good idea of what I liked about safari and what I wanted out of this trip. For my 50th birthday, my desire was to go back on safari, and I desperately wanted to go to Giraffe Manor. So, I called The Safari Collection (who owns Giraffe Manor, Sasaab and Sala’s Camp) and worked with Giles Pattison to reserve the manor, Sasaab and Sala’s Camp. In speaking with Giles, he highly recommended ending at Giraffe Manor, versus starting here, which was what I was thinking. Boy was he RIGHT!! Why? Because it’s a totally different experience, is in Nairobi, so you will be sure to make your flight home; You can ask your driver to take you shopping and pick up all the souvenirs and gifts you want to bring home, and the gift shop at the manor is fantastic as well. Our driver took us to two places, one general store with all kinds of gifts and a bead making facility that was fantastic. The manor is lovely, and while everyone is there because they saw this place on Instagram, it’s worth it. I was worried it would be crowded, it wasn’t. I was worried it would be just hype, it’s not. I was worried I wouldn’t get ample time with the giraffe, but I got plenty of time and so many photos. This place is special, and a great way to end a safari trip. Remember to bring cash so you can leave staff tips, we left tips at both the Manor and the Retreat. You only really need one night here - especially if your flight is late the next night, as you’ll have all day to relax at the retreat and hang out with the giraffes again. So, just to address the Instagram craze for this place…..yes, everyone is dressed up for their instagram worthy photos - I recommend a solid colored outfit (I wore a black sundress) but some people went all out. Whatever you wear, you will have fun. Massages at the Retreat were great, and the final thing we did before we flew home. Food was excellent, especially at the Retreat where you got to choose from an extensive menu.

Response from Tanya Carr-Hartley, Owner at Giraffe Manor
Responded 16 Mar 2023
We thank you for your detailed, and honest review of the Manor, which we are glad you chose for your 50th Birthday celebrations. Giraffe Manor can sit on either the entry, or exit of a safari, and in some cases in the midst - certainly when guests are headed to Tanzania or Rwanda, following their Kenyan safari. As you say, nairobi has a myriad of fun and eclectic experiences, which we highlight on our website, in the in-room folders and we ask our team to brief travelers , and the drivers are excellent at guiding guests. Your recommendation of a night at the Manor and a day room experience works as a good combination for an end of Safari option, with the late afternoon or night flights. Likewise when people arrive early, the Retreat acts as an "early bird stop" before the check into the Manor. We are greatful that your enjoyed the experiences at the manor and thank-full for your review.

Giraffe Manor is a magical place. There is no other word for it. The location is a quiet sanctuary in busy Nairobi with giraffes and pumbas just wondering around. The experience of feeding giraffes both in the evening and from our room in the morning was unforgettable. Having the giraffes eat from our table at breakfast was brilliant. I also loved watching the pumbas wonder around sometimes even coming up to the manor door. They are so cute and when we visited they had a few babies around. We only spent one night there - I wish we had at least two - but it has exceeded any expectations I had, and I have been planning to go there since I found out about it about 5 years ago so those were high. I honestly cannot sing this place enough praises. The staff are friendly, professional, very helpful, and attentive. It is thanks to them we got some amazing photos and videos with the giraffes. The service was second to none, as was the food - and there was a lot of it. We holidayed in Kenya over a week which included my boyfriend’s birthday and even though it was a few days away we got an amazing celebration with cake, music, and dancing. The grounds are gorgeous and meticulously maintained, and our room was spacious with a huge bathroom. There really isn’t a single flaw I can find. The stay kicked off what was amazing holiday in Kenya, and I really hope to be back. If you love animals, particularly wild animals, Giraffe Manor must be on your bucket list. It is not a cheap place to stay, but yes, it is definitely more than worth it.

I've seen the pictures online since forever and this has always been on my bucket list so I bit the bullet and booked - easily the best experience of my life, it was absolutely incredible. I stayed in the Marlon room which is huge and the giraffes wait outside your balcony in the morning, EARLY!! As a solo traveler I was nervous about getting photos, (not the be all and end all but I did want some memories captured to look back on) but Andrew went above and beyond so I didn't have to worry! The giraffe interactions are orchestrated so well and you have so much time to soak it all in. My favourite area was the courtyard, especially at golden hour and the morning light, it was beautiful! Make sure to check out The Retreat, I loved the painting activity which I'm sure is aimed at children but it's relaxing to sit there being creative and overlooking the pumbas and giraffes in the background! A massive thankyou to Andrew at the Manor and Eunice at the Retreat who made my two days here so memorable and magical, I feel lucky to have met them both. It truly exceeded all my (already high) expectations and I feel so grateful to have experienced this, I will return one day I'm sure!

The only way to describe our experience is that Giraffe Manor exceeded any expectation we had. If you’ve seen the pictures on Instagram or their website the reality is even better. The price of stay is certainly high but it is worth every penny. If you can afford the price and can get a reservation it is certainly worthwhile.

We went to Giraffe Manor for my birthday and had booked over a year ago. Everything there was so much more than I expected from the staff, the food and of course The Giraffes. If this place is on your bucket list I highly recommend it.

The most spectacular place we have stayed. From the very minute we entered Giraffe manor the staff were top class. The buildings and setting was unbelievable and the most exciting part the giraffe were the most gentle, friendly animals going. All round unreal.
