Porini Mara Camp is located in the exclusive 17,500 acre wildlife conservancy of Ol Kinyei, one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in the Serengeti-Mara eco-system. The camp has 6 spacious guest tents with an en-suite bathroom sited in the shade of Yellow-barked Acacia trees. The camp accommodates a maximum of 12 guests, where guests enjoy game drives in 4x4s, sundowners at scenic viewing points and escorted walks with Maasai guides. Ol Kinyei is noted for its excellent wildlife viewing with a resident pride of lions, cheetahs, leopards and a wide variety of animals. There is a strict limit on the number of tourist vehicles allowed in the conservancy so that visitors from the camp can view the wildlife without other vehicles.

So impressed with Gamewatchers and this camp. I can’t believe how perfect everything was. We were picked up promptly at the airstrip and transferred to the camp. There are only 6 camps here and I prefer the intimate surroundings. The tent was clean, comfortable and spacious. The

Part of a 9 night 3 porini camp safari. Expensive but worth every penny. Excellent Guides, Vehicles, Accommodation. Unbeatable camp locations. Everything was perfect with exceptional attention to detail. Even hot water bottles in your bed at night. To be thoroughly recommended.

I just spent 4 nights in the Porini Mara Camp, and… wow. Where should I even begin. My mum and I went to Kenya due to our mutual love for animals and nature. Little did I know that it would not only be the wildlife that made this trip the most incredible experience of my life,

February is one of the best months in which to visit Kenya in terms of the weather! You should have blue skies and sunshine. But as much of the country is at a high altitude, it can be very chilly at night and in the early morning especially in places over 5,000 ft above sea level. Nairobi is 5,800 ft above sea level, Porini Amboseli is about 4000 ft, Porini Mara and Porini Lion are nearly 5,000 ft while Porini Rhino is at the same altitude as places in the Alps at around 6000 ft and can be very cold at night and on dawn game drives. So it is important to have vests / T-shirts to wear under your tops and to have warm sweaters and a warm fleece or jacket. It's best to have clothes in several layers which you can peel off as the day warms up. At night the camps will put hot water bottles in your bed to make sure you are warm at night. Wishing you a great safari staying at the Porini Camps! Jake Grieves-Cook Gamewatchers Safaris

Dear Janice, the rainy season is usually April to May so June tends to be very lush and green and is when many of the animals have their young. November, when you stayed last time is also a time when there can be rains. June tends to have less rain than November though. Best wishes Jake at Porini Camps

We came end of June. Early morning (6.15) game drives are cold! You need a jacket. We had no flies. Natural colours are best - long sleeved cotton shirts are good. Nobody wears fancy clothes. You only need sleeveless tops for the short time between lunch and afternoon game drive when it should be warm. Re shoes - we wore trainers/sneakers most of the time. Have a great time. We loved it.
