Located in a forest in the heart of the Masai Mara, Little Governors' is intimate in character. The luxury en-suite tents are tucked around a large water-hole clearing that teems with life. Beyond, lie the grasslands of the Masai Mara and the deep blue Olololo Ridge Escarpment. Arriving in Camp is an adventure, leaving your vehicle behind you cross the Mara River by boat and are escorted on foot through the forest to the camp. Governors has been pioneering immersive and transformational safaris in the Mara since 1972. We were the first operators to be permanently based inside the Mara, our site was chosen for its prime location and was the designated “getaway” for the Governors of Kenya. Unfenced and right in the heart of the action. Our camps are Located in some of the best and most precious Wildlife Locations in the world. We are a family with a colourful cast of characters that embodies the spirit of safari, while placing the care of the environment, community and conservation at the heart of everything we do.

We had the most wonderful stay at Little Governors, all the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. The chefs and drivers were excellent and the security team were great and made us feel very safe despite the wildlife literally being on your doorstep! You can see

Outstanding accommodations and guides at a small luxurious camp of tents with wood floors, full baths, solar hot water, lights and power sockets with usb outlets. Amazing scenery. Wildlife right in the camp with birds and hippos you can see from your tent. Wake up calls with

When we arrived and saw the little row boat to take us to our camp I knew we had arrived to somewhere special. The stairs to camp would not be suited to anyone with ambulatory issues. The Kenyan hospitality was everywhere. Hellen was there to greet us, as she was every day

This camp is great. The food is amazing and the chef even made us a very tasty spicy chicken curry because I joked with him about making me something (spicy) hot. The tents are very comfortable with a massive bed and powerful showers that will burn your skin off if your not

Migration fluctuates... last year it was during Sept/Oct. This last trip we saw big 5 on the Mara but this is first time for me in 3 visits so nothing guaranteed. Always exciting though no matter what! Each of my visits has been totally different!

Its the right place to go, but you should speak to your travel coordinator to understand if its the right time to go. I was there in late September and it was amazing.

How often did y’all see lions and cheetahs?
We saw lions and leopards frequently. We saw cheetahs only once. We saw a group of 5 cheetahs called The Five Brothers. They brought down a wildebeest.

How often did y’all see lions and cheetahs?
Hello Robert: There are lions everywhere in Masai Mara. I had the chance to get close-up videos with my iPhone and record their roars when they call each other. Really awesome! Cheetahs we saw just a few. You can’t get too close to them because they are shy. You will be able to get great pictures if you have a 200 or 300 mm telephoto lens.

Game drive depends on the season and weather, cause we could see Wildebeests river crossing 3 times in 3 days, to your question it depends on what you are looking for, since you staying for 4 nights , you would have done all game drives except this , enjoy cheers

"I think tents 11-17 are the best tents."
"All tents face the marsh. We were in 12 which was just perfect but I think they would all be outstanding."
"All of these rooms surround a watering hole and are breathtaking!"
"All rooms overlook a marshy area where all kinds of wildlife are regularly seen."
