staff is great... good en suite rooms.... makes my day colorful....and loved the stay.....! really enjoyed especially the swahili dishes and the smiles on the workers face would make my day.... good hotel for a budget man
I arrived early evening after a gruesome bus ride from Nairobi, which included me suffering from motion sickness and temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius. Weak, dehydrated and completely exhausted the friendly staff at The Royal Palace Hotel could clearly sense that I needed rest and despite me having booked a single room, the placed me in a double "because of the heat", hoping that the larger space would ease my troubles. The room was excellent and I was so grateful for their generousity. I had lost most of my appetite but had a craving for mango, and the staff ran out to buy fresh mango for me, as I was too weak to do it myself. I stayed at the hotel for two nights and I would recommend this lovely place to anyone, especially if you want to be in the middle of Mombasa's old town and near Fort Jesus! You'll wake up to the morning prayer of the nearby Mosque and have your breakfast on the rooftop terrace.…
Stayed here for a night, after a loooong ride with the train from nairobi. The guys that work there were really kind and they even brought us dinner from a nearby takeaway restaurant. Really grateful for that. In the morning there was breakfast on the terrace, not bad at all. The thing is that it's not the cleanest place that we've stayed at, the bathroom & bedding wasn't quite up to the standards. Location was good, in the old town.
Having arrived in Mombasa quite late from Nairobi and looking for a relaxing weekend before setting off for Dar es Salaam I stumbled upon this little gem and I'm so glad I did. It was right in the heart of Old Town, the owner was an absolute saint in terms of directing me toward the beaches, which bus companies to use, where I could access the internet, and advising where to eat. As a lone traveller I loved having the roof to myself in the evenings to gaze over the rooftops of Old Town while reading or just generally relaxing with a cold drink. The room was incredibly comfortable as well. For value for money I can't recommend this place enough.
I stayed 5 days in this hotel. I loved the warm welcoming of Juma, Beatrice and Kamala really helpful people since the very moment of my arrival, late at night, they took me to a nice restaurant to eat. Very helpful, always smiling and focused on having me happy. I enjoyed so much the great location, very close the Old Town, with a lot of charme. The room was a bit small but very colorful. Good breakfast in the morning on the big terrace from which the view over the city is really nice!
A wonderful hotel in the heart of the old town, the Royal Palace hotel is a family-run hotel in the truest sense of the word! Nothing is too much trouble. We had the warmest of welcomes, and enjoyed our colourful room, attentive service and long chats with the staff. It really was a home from home - just what we needed on our first visit to Africa. We really felt more like members of their family than hotel guests! Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough :)

Recommend to All those looking for a Low Budget hotel 3*** It was great for me and My Family to visit as it was first time for us all to get to Mombasa and they staff were very friendly and atmosphere was great also they do cater for the family throughout the trip, the Roof Top is great to Eat. They can also arrange drop off and pick up from all Major stations of travel. They did also arrange local tour guide they also helped US haggle the price with local tourist market. Overall Awesome hotel. SAD COULDN'T STAY FOR LONG Recommend to All. Professional Bodybuilder from UK Nabil Athman
I wentvtwice to RoyalPalace and this good budget hotel is great! The first time I arrived late from Nairobi and as a women travelling alone, I asked if it was possible to pick me up. So when.I arrived one of the guys picked me up and showed me later a very great restaurant in the neighbourhood. Although my single room.was small,.it was painted so nicely! Great artist who made this. The breakfast was bread, fruit, egg and tea: simple but a good start of a lovely day in Mombasa! Thank you guys for the great stay!!
