Bamburi Beach Hotel garners praise for its spotless rooms and clean pools, with guests particularly enjoying the hotel's prime beachside location. The variety of amenities and festive atmosphere contribute to its appeal, especially for family entertainment. However, while the service is often commended for friendliness and professionalism, issues with slow service and responsiveness mar the experience for some.
Room opinions are divided, with cleanliness and views celebrated but some criticize the dated decor. Value perceptions vary, with concerns about charges and all-inclusive package satisfaction.

Detailed Reviews
This place has a feel good factor. Primarily, the staff go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. We stayed for 5 days on the all inclusive package. The large room had tea making facilities, drinking water, fridge, bath and shower as well as a veranda. We stayed on the 3rd floor with a view, so took 2 flights of stairs to the pool or restaurant, which we preferred. The ground floor rooms overlook the pool. Unusually, we ate 3 meals a day as the food was very good and had lots of choice. The two pools were a reasonable size. Recommendations for management to make the place even better: Provide larger quantities of drinking water in this very hot climate. Ensure rooms are well prepared before the guests occupy. Our room had no toilet paper on arrival and the bathroom had little cold water. The room had very few sockets, so provide adaptors for additional electronic items. Housekeeping should not remove towels before the guests have left. Provide mugs, rather that the tiny cups. The animation team may need a review as the evening entertainment was limited and the disco could be relocated. The choice of music was poor and the team made little effort to engage the guests in dancing. The seating for the entertainment were in rows and could be changed. Update the trip adviser site as there is no pool table. Give Gertrude (in the restaurant) a pay rise. Give Catherine (in the restaurant) a promotion.
Overall this is a fantastic place with good facilities, great staff and super location. Highly recommended.

I originally stayed here twenty years ago and decided to revisit with my children (age 9 and 15). Arriving at the hotel the staff couldn’t have given us a warmer welcome. They took us to get some lunch while they took all our bags to the room which was very much appreciated.
The hotel is in a great location directly on a stunning beach. There are restaurants and bars along the coast which were all brilliant…. My children enjoyed the camel rides on the beach and swimming in the warm sea. There are many beach sellers etc on the beach which can get a bit much but a polite no suffice if not interested in buying. It would have been nice to enjoy the beach without constantly being called over etc but understandably Kenya has suffered during covid and these people are only trying to make a living.
There are so fewer tourists in Mombasa now and it’s a real shame. The hotel seemed to make up for this by hosting conferences etc, however these never impacted on our stay. In fact the staff couldn’t do enough for us, they work round the clock keeping the hotel meticulously clean and were always very friendly (especially the restaurant staff) Towels are provided around the pool and my son especially enjoyed the pool activities and games so big shout out to the animation team.
The rooms were ok, not amazing but perfectly fine. The only issue was the safe which malfunctioned and due to security the only person who could open it wasn’t in until the following day leaving us with no money or bank cards. Apart from this there are no complaints. The housekeeping seemed to work around our schedule and wouldn’t disturb us if we were late going to breakfast.
Mombasa has so much to offer, we visited Haller park (an absolute must) The waterpark (we were the only ones there for the entire day) Mamba village, Bombolulu but an absolute must is Mtwapa beach! Beautiful natural beach with very few people. We found a nice shack to eat and drink and then took a boat ride into Mtwapa creek which was amazing (so much cheaper than Bamburi beach) We used Tuk Tuks to get around but always barter… so much cheaper than taxis.
Restaurants were good, food got a bit samey however as a vegetarian it did limit my choice. The food tends to be rice, meat, fish, curries etc but my children regularly ordered pizza and burgers (made especially) to have at dinner. They will bend over backwards to make sure you have what you want at meal times.
All in all we had the most amazing holiday and would love to go back at some point! Please bring back direct flights from London to Mombasa! The stop over makes the journey so tiring….
Thank you Bamburi beach hotel… you made our holiday very special :-)

I travelled on my own and this hotel made me feel so welcome. The staff need thanking in all the departments including Maintenance, Housekeeping, Animation, The Outside entertainment brought in particularly the Tightrope performer, Pool attendants, Cleaners, Gardening, Tropical diving centre, Beauty therapy, Reception, Hospitality. Bar staff and Security. I went on a amazing topical dive with the very professional dive team and it really is like a dream. I treated myself to beauty treatments and I was so impressed with the inclusive use of staff especially Gladys' who was exceptional. Hospitality was outstanding and it's so nice that the staff really do remember me from past visits. I was all inclusive and the food for me as a vegetarian was so tasty with great choices of food. There was an extra special effort made by staff for New Year's Eve making it a real night to remember. The housekeeping were very thorough everyday keeping my room clean to a very high standard. My only criticism is the internet connection did not reach my room which I needed to do some work and I had to go to reception but hey this is Kenya!!! The best team were the animation who all go out of their way to make sure people are happy through water polo, water aerobics, playing board games, fun competitions, chatting to everyone and their dance shows which really deserve an oscar!!! They are always happy, friendly, take people out on local trips, look after young children in a play area and they can communicate with tourists in several different languages they have learnt themselves. Try to get on a safari or go out and meet the locals so you see the real Kenya! (The main road is easily accessible and there are taxis, matatu's motorbike and tuk tuks). A special thanks to Dancers and Animation team members Benson and Sadik who put maximum effort into their work everyday with an extra smile. A really hope all the staff are told about this review as they need to know how good they all are and how much they are valued. As tourists it's important to remember that many of staff come from very difficult backgrounds but they come into work each day, working long hours for little money trying to better themselves but they just get on with it and leave their troubles at home and provide the quality service we often take for granted. A true inspiration x

Confirming our booking at the reception via phone call was a challenge as either the calls were not being picked or the lady on the other end hang up after introducing ourselves. The rooms had no mosquito nets, old tv screens that was only limited to few local tv channels. The staff looked unbothered and unmotivated. . At the restaurant the waiters were even hiding away food portions for themselves even before the guests were done eating. We were on the all inclusive package and they served us beer in tiny glasses and it was a hustle getting any waiter to refill our glasses and most guests had to get their drinks by themselves. I even spotted one of the staff gulping down beer keg that he had served himself.

This hotel is perfect! I can really not fault it at all, from top to bottom it is cleaned spotless, the cleaners mosquito spray the rooms for you adwell! The food is delicious and such a range of options despite it being low season Aswell as shows every night by outside performers, the staff will take you out and show you round villages off their own backs and don’t expect anything! We tipped as we were so grateful we went snorkelling with the hotel with Bruno who was fantastic he took us to see the reef as an additional for free as we had said we would like to see it! He took an hour out of his own time to show us this and showed us all the animals there!!!! We had Moses for our taxi driver, also working for the hotel who we couldn’t fault at all he really was so kind and pointed out different things we should do whilst being there like halla park etc
The animation team were spot on they knew us by name after the first day and always made conversation and remembered to ask us how each trip was that we had been on, these were also the people that took us to the villages and towns, the bartenders learned our drinks orders very quickly and topped us up as soon as we had nearly ran out
The cocktails were strong too! Not like normal all inclusive watered down drinks!!

Weekend relaxing get away gone wrong.
On arrival well greeted and escorted to the bedroom. How others rate the place highly no idea…..
I asked about Mosquito net as non visible, they explained how the hotel sprays the room. Second night after being eaten by Mosquitos begged for net finally arrived.
Door locked didn’t work, had to be fixed twice before fully operational. Had to leave room unlocked on two occasions as phone did not work and was unable to be fixed so called the hotel on mobile costing us money.
In room safe no instructions and unable with a degree to work its use so gave up who knows what year it’s from.
After a day relaxing in the sun thought of chilling in front of TV only 3 working channels Citizen, KTN and KBC.
WiFi never worked and by this time gave up completely and just used own data bundles.
Pool getting a bed topper from the team where are the team, had to get ourselves.
Food and drink the only positive. If the hotel was to modernise would be back for the food as is the saviour of the weekend.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to post your review of your stay with us. We're so pleased to know that you enjoyed our food and drinks. The Food & Beverage team were happy you liked the food. We never cease to enjoy comments about our great food! I'm sorry that you also encountered some problems with the room. Please note we provide mosquito nets on request, on arrival, a guest can request for the mosquito net in the room. We do spray all our rooms to rid off mosquitoes. However I am sorry to hear that your request for a mosquito net did not get to the reception on duty immediately. The door locking issue in particular shouldn't have needed two repairs during your stay. We regularly check on the guest rooms facilities to ensure all are working, Happy to know it was repaired . Unfortunately we do not provide safe instructions in the room since they are provided at the front desk on request and the safe is given a very minimal fee. I'm also sorry that you didn't enjoy the WiFi in the hotel. I would like to assure you that we have strong WiFi throughout the hotel, I could only guess your gadget needed to be loaded the wifi with assistance from our team. This is something we witness alot, and it only takes a change of settings on your phone, if this was brought to our attention, it would have been fixed immediately. Regarding the absence of the pool attendant on sight, we have addressed this laxity and will not happen to anyone else or in future. On the Tv channels, we are sorry you couldn't get all the channels. We are slowly facing out the old Tvs replacing them with the latest models. I'm only sorry it wasn't done prior to your stay. Thank you once again for choosing Bamburi Beach Hotel for your vacation in Mombasa. Should you be traveling to Mombasa again, please feel most welcome to stay with us. We would like to have another opportunity to offer you the experience you should have had the first time. Kind regards, Catherine Yield Manager

We have just come from a wonderful 5 nights stay at the hotel. The hotel was quite full but the service was still excellent.
What I liked about the room is that the two rooms we were given were facing the Ocean, what a spectacular view we had. When booking kindly ask for ocean view rooms, our rooms were 301,302. This was on the 2nd floor, so 201 and 202 will also face the ocean. The check in was quick and fast. At the front office you will meet Esther who will serve you with a big smile making you feel very welcome and you instantly forget about the long trip that you had. The Hotel is easy to locate, it has a sign post on the main Mombasa -Malindi road hence you can easily get it.
The food had a variety can't really complain, the bed was very comfortable but high so perhaps could be a problem for very short people.
There were a lot of activities so you don't get bored,
What I liked the most are the ocean view rooms, the pool beds and view of the ocean from raised deck.
I didn't see a gym, most likely they don't have one. The animation team needs to engage the guests more in terms of making them participate in evening entertainments.

Starting with the positive,
1. The marketing Manager Margaret Masha is such a professional and the hotel owners need to fully support her by upgrading the facility and delivering top-notch services
2. Daisy at the restaurant is very good and serves guests with a smile all the time.
3. The pool is good
4. The amination team is very good, the DJ Briton is very good and ensures that guests enjoy every beat of the entertainment.
To the Negatives
1.The hotel is a bit run down compared to the previous years, probably due to covid.
2. the Beds are too highly raised making them very uncomfortable, and one can easily fall off
3.The rooms are generally old with very old towels, taps, some Tvs not working,
4. The drinking water in the rooms is not sufficient considering the heat in Mombasa
5.The Menu is very small compared to how it was in 2019,
6. The bathing soaps etc are not sufficient
7. For an AI, at least the hotel should provide toothpaste and brush for the guests.

This is the 5th visit in 8 years and the first since the end of the corona virus pandemic. We had gone with a dozen relatives in Dec 2020 to celebrate my recovery from a bout of Covid and it was thoroughly enjoyable and therapeutic. So I went to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. In the 15 months since, the hotel has been renovated and refurbished in every room while still retaining it's charm. The rooms are spacious, airy, clean and traditional with very large comfortable beds. The bathrooms are good and probably next up for modernization but the A/C is super cool. They will bend over backwards to accommodate you so if you need a fridge or extra water in the room, all you have to do is ask. They now offer recyclable bottles with an opener instead of plastic bottles for environmental reasons. I love the extensive use of wood. But holidays aren't for spending indoors especially when the weather is just gorgeous throughout the year. The view from the beach, the extra clean pools and the fact that every room faces the sea makes this a memorable visit each time I have visited. I love that you can order a drink from the pool too. The beach is safe and accessible (no high cliffs like other resorts) and the water so very warm especially in the evening. The food is offered buffet style with vegetarian, Indian, Kenyan and western cuisine on offer. My favourite is the BBQ corner which offered everything from chicken to sea food and every meat in between. The desserts and pastries are to die for especially if you have a sweet tooth. The staff are all super friendly and willing to go out of their way. Special shout out to the supervisors Musila, Daisy, Anthony, et all who made it memorable and to the waiting staff, John, Joy, Irene, etc who were all dedicated. A special mention to Dena and Stephen (bartenders) who made the most extraordinary cocktails and mocktails from 10 am to 10 pm. Great work guys. The hotel is good but the staff are the greatest asset. This being a family hotel, they have a great animation team that takes care of kids/teens throughout the day and going into the evening too. Shout out to the team and Amina in particular who has a special way with my daughter. The location is great and I managed to go into town a few times during my 10 day stay. This hotel, staff and it's management are all great and it looks like I will be going there with my family for years to come. The only thing that they may consider improving on is printing a few "Do not disturb" signs when one wants to lie in. Otherwise, we shall you see you at Bamburi soon.

Amazing experience at Bamburi Beach Hotel and my stay was extremely worth every penny, from checking in the hotel by Joan was quick and service was good. The Hotel was good overlooking the jomo kenyatta public beach. Food was good they had more variety thanks to Daisy, james and the GM Halake they engage the guest and make them feel home away from home.
Thank you Bamburi Hotel can't wait for my next visit.
