Detailed Reviews
The reef hotel was ok, the rooms were a little dated and could do with renovating. At times the staff were less than helpful and there was never anyone to ask about excursions. However some members of staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We took it apon ourselves to organise trips with a local guide who we found on the beach and had no problems with both excurasions we did with him. The buffet wasnt bad in the evening, we enjoyed the poolside bar and grill that was chargeable. Location was fantatic, right on the beach front and only a 15/20 minute walk to a large shopping centre. The pool was great and kept clean, got very busy on sunday. The evening entertainment was very good as well. Any problems that did accure were dealt with straight away. We were also able to have a packed breakfast for our early starts. All in all a simple hotel to lay your head.

I always enjoy coming back to the Reef, with very friendly and polite staff. The kitchen was accommodating to my special meal requet even at short notice and further courtesy extended during our checkoutt process.
Areas of improvement would on the WiFI which was very unstable and not ideal for business use. Also newer linens and towels would be nice.
See you next time!

Reef hotel is such a professionally operated place right from the security at the gate.
Coming to the reception,I was warmly welcomed by Rita , the receptionist then handed over to the guest relations manager by the name Isabella.who took her time to make my stay comfortable by showing me around the hotel
I honestly felt at home I was looking for a place where I could relax and feel comfortable which Reef hotel provided.
At Reef hotel, the staff is just wonderful.
Talk of service with a smile 😊,everyone worked with a smile which made my stay feel like a small haven.
The food is prepared by chefs whose knowledge of different cuisine is just amazing. How sumptuous.
Oh, not to mention the desserts 🎂.
Hats off for the kitchen department.
The swimming pool is one of a kind,oh not just one pool but 3 huge and well guarded pools
The baby pool is great with enough life guards so if you have children, you are assured of their safety .
The gardens are just out of this world Different trees, flowers ,grass, creepers, bamboos which gives the place a cool atmosphere in a normally hot weather.
Clean beach with white sand which makes walking and swimming just fun and enjoyable.
I love Reef hotel and promise myself a come back.

I attended a one month training at Reef hotel in Mombasa. The conference rooms are well ventilated with good furniture, the food is delicious and they also do special diets. It is easy to access the hotel from Mombasa town and also from the hotel to town is easy because the the matatu stage it's just at the gate of the hotel. It is also near the beach, the rooms are neat and well done.Have good hygiene in both handling of food and cleaning of the environment. The sanitation are also good and they have considered People living with disabilities(Plwd)..They have very friendly and joyvial staff. They also have swimming pool facilities that are kept clean not forgetting thier live bands and the type of the music played is perfect.
Reef holds a special place in my heart I just loved thier hospitality and soon I will be coming back.

my stay at this hotel was excruciating and horrible from the facilities to the food to the amenities. but there was nothing worse than those room. VERY uncomfortable beds and pillows in fact through out my stay my family and I all woke up with neck and back pain , the bathrooms are in horrible state including the reception bathrooms, the towels are old and discoloured , the soap has a weird smell. the sink and shower are rusted and spew water in all direction even taking a decent shower was impossible for 55,000 a night for 2 rooms , definitely not worth I would not advice anyone to stay there , for the same amount you can find a significantly better hotel . they seriously need to sit down and plan an extreme renovation of that hotel. 1 STAR resort if you ask me. but one thing I will say they have good customer service everything else is wack .

1. The place is horrible right from the check in. I regretted on day 1. We arrived from the airport at 9am in the morning with my 2 year old son. We found them setting down breakfast. We were so hungry and requested if we could join in. It was denied since it was time to close. We asked if we could buy al carte from the Tanga bar, the waiter casually responded to us to wait till 12noon since the Chef was not open yet. We requested for a small meal then for the child, we were told its against policy but luckily the customer care personnel called Isabela (he only +ve encounter) intervened and the boy was fed something.
2. The lady who was doing housekeeping in room 211 on dates 3-6th oct, kept coming to wake us up at 9am and requesting to take away the bedsheets that early even before we go for breakfast. I found it disturbing and had to keep requesting her to give us more time and come back when we are out for breakfast. Upon check out, we tipped her 200bob because frankly we were not happy at all with the service and then we heard her behind our back talking dismally to her colleague about the value of money she had been given.
3. The staff at the eating area are quite unfriendly and talk down casually to guests. One waiter, he always served the fish delicacy during lunch and dinner, was even hitting at me. I asked him 'ninyunyuzie mchuzi' and he responded in a weird tone, "naeza kunyunyuzie kitu kingine pia". Very disgusting.
- They have an oversupply of Trainee/Intern waiters who keep taking away your plate before you even finish. You look away one second, the plate has already been cleared and you weren't done eating.
4. The staff at the swimming pool also complain how they are understaffed and how they don't enjoy their work with minimal pay. This translates in the quality of service given to your guests.
5. Let's not even go to the state of the rooms, very run down. The glasses for drinking water were washed right before my eyes in the bathroom sink (which has gunk build up btw) with the surface cleaning detergent and put back on the console table. I never used a glass again.
6. There're no child friendly meals. They keep recycling meals that didn't finish during breakfast, are served for lunch. Therefore there's no variety, you'll keep finding the same roast potatoes for breakfast/lunch/dinner.
7. Rita and Isabella were the only helpful and generally kind personnel in that hotel.
Th management should consider training the staff or do an overhaul because there wasn't much, if any hospitality in that hotel.

We enjoyed our short stay at the Reef Hotel in Mombasa, I love the beach walks, moonshine bar, the band music etc. We had a good time because the place was packed with family, their clean swimming pool and different cuisine makes you want to stay forever. Their response was slow on those days because of the overwhelming numbers on orders for food and drinks. The Reef for me is always the it place in Mombasa.

Checked on short notice and had a fantastic reception through Ms. Salama Rajab and Patricia who were at hand to ensure my stay was comfortable.
The room allocated had an out-of-this world view combining both beach, garden and pool views.
Variety of fresh food was on the menu and entertainment from local guys on Saturday was also available.
General hotel feeling was awesome compared to my last stay. Lots of improvement

The hotel is located in a beautiful area and whole hotel complex is very comfortable and nice to stay. The area is big, safe and pleasant. The location is great, just above the beautiful beach, with easy tuk tuk access to carrefour or even Mombasa city. Rooms are very clean and have great view. The staff is extremely nice, friendly and helpful. Food is good too. I will be back in future.
