Hotel's location is absolutely perfect. Near almost everything and well connected by subway and bus to every major sightseeing point in the city. It is a walking distance from Ghost street, Lama temple, Confucius temple. 6 bust stops from Temple of Heaven. 2 bus stops from Wangfujing, etc.

Wi-fi was decent which was a surprise.

Staff was kind and helpful. Cleaning lady kept changing our towels every day unless we left "do not disturb" sign over the door. Which was nice.

AC in the room.

Staff did not want to help me with cab arrangement which was strange. They kept explaining how they do not have a phone number, although I know there is one. Cabs in Beijing can even be arranged over app. Any hotel must offer that kind of service. To be honest cabs go through their street at any time of the day, so you can hail it easily.

The hotel might have rats, I heard some noises in the ceiling.

The room can have unpleasant odor if not ventilated regularly, the odor comes from the sewage from the bathroom where it is almost regular.

Travelled with my family of 6 pax and stayed at Chengtai Business Hotel for 7 nights.

Hotel Room
We had booked the rooms via booking.com. We requested for 3 rooms in the same floor. The hotel staff didn't took notice of that request and mentioned that they were only able to assign 2 rooms on the same floor while the other at another level. Given no choice, we agreed. My family members encountered spooky encounters in both room 260 and 261. After waiting for 3 days, the customer service staff then assisted a change of one of the room to room 102, which was much spacious and bigger.

Hotel Facilities
The rooms were equipped with bedroom slippers, hairdryer, TV and 2 hangers without cupboard. You can hang your clothes with the given hangers behind the door.

Customer Service
The customer service is terrible, When I reported that the telephone in both room 260 and 261 were faulty, the customer service staff mentioned that they are not able to replace another set and to live with it. Totally speechless.. The customer service staff also refused to assist in ground transportation arrangement for our departure from the hotel to airport. She told us to flag the cab outside the hotel by ourselves.

There is a 7 Eleven nearby and many chinese restaurants around. I personally like the shop selling soya bean and youtiao just 1 minute away from the hotel. The signboard is in yellow.

The nearest train station is at Zhangzizhonglu. You can also alight at Dongsi station. The hotel is in between both stations. You can also take bus 116 at the bus stop opposite the hotel, to Tian Tan atttraction, Alight at Fa Hua Shi bus stop and you will reach the attraction's north entrance.

Overall, I will not be booking this hotel for my next trip to Beijing.

Located on North Dongsi Street in Beijing, the Chengtai is a good place to stay.
Near to Zhangzizhonglu station on line 5, which is an interchange for many lines. Easy to get to the Silk Market, Zoo Market, Tian'anman, Beijing Airport, Main Railway stations.
Plenty of places to eat around this area, street food, restaurants also some good massage parlours.
The hotel is reasonably clean hence only 3 stars given. The staff are very friendly and try to help where they can - English is not spoken here. Upon arrival I was given an upgrade although I had paid for a basic room. I stayed a few times in this hotel and will definitely stay there again when I return to Beijing.
The downside is the dreadful smell of the drains especially in the morning when everyone is up and showering throughout the hotel. Take some perfume and spray it around to try and mask the smell.
I do recommend this hotel and would rate it higher if it were cleaner.

Stayed here for 11 nights and thought it served as an excellent base to see Beijing. Room was very clean and showers were hot. Staff on reception and cleaners were all very friendly.
I've seen on other reviews that rats were heard in ceiling. We also heard the rats, but otherwise a nice hotel. Up the street on the same side of the road is a 7/11 convenience store that does take away food. It's very nice and also very cheap.

Was lucky to walk in this chinese hotel, after walking in many hostels but they were full. I paid 287 a night for a single room with a double bed. Staff is helpfull although not very english speaking. Room itself was good and quiet and shower was really a relief:-). All in all a good stay for your money, although a bit far from the metro from both sides.
