Just came back from an excellent stay at the Crystal Orange Hotel Jianguomen. Prior to arriving in Beijing I had spent ages looking for a good quality, reasonably priced and city centre located hotel for a 3 night stay. There being so many hotels in Beijing, there were a lot of hotels to go through and consider, in the end it was the Crystal Orange that fit all the criteria and it certainly didn't disappoint. The hotel was booked on Ctrip.com at RMB518 per night for a standard room.

The hotel is located just off Jianguomen Outer Street, a large and busy main road through Beijing. The nearest subway station is Yonganli, from the airport I had taken the airport express train to Dongzhimen and then transferred on to the subway which required one change before arriving at Yonganli. Once there it was about a 15 min walk to the hotel. Make sure you find out the exact location of the hotel and plan your route as it is not so easy to find. The hotel is located on a small residential back street off the main road. The hotel is within walking distance to the Guo Mao CBD district and embassy district, there are many eateries, convenience stores etc. nearby and also a supermarket about a 5 min walk away.

Inside the hotel, the lobby is very modern and very cool. The front desk staff work off laptops and check-in was easy, staff know good enough English. There is one lift for the hotel, I was on the 7th floor, I think there were 11 floors. Never found it a problem and never had to wait long for the lift to arrive.

Once enter the room music starts playing. They have a selection of tunes from the Hotel Costes compilation of lounge music which is stored on an SD card plugged into the multi-media music player and starts up once you put your card key in the slot. The room is lovely and has everything you could need. Firstly the decor is modern and looks great, the size is fine, not big but not small either and is decked out with the latest gadgets and features. As mentioned before there is a multimedia music player which allows you to dock your iPhone/iPod, plays CDs and MP3s on an SD card. On the wall is a 42" LG LCD TV, provided is an HDMI cable which you can hook up to your laptop etc. to use the TV as a monitor. VGA cables, RGB cables etc. are available upon request. By the desk are 2 international plug sockets, an ethernet cable for internet, HDMI and VGA plugs for hooking up with the TV. Internet usage in room is free via wifi or ethernet cable.
The lighting is controlled with a touch panel with a number of preset lighting programmes depending on your mood/requirement. The touch panel can be a bit unresponsive but you have to press it in the right way. The panel is lit in blue when lights are off. The air conditioning is also controlled using a touch panel, didn't really figure out how to work it but the default setting is fine.

The bathroom is nice and big, it has a big glass wall to the room but has blinds if you need the privacy. The bathroom features a bath tub, walk in shower and toilet. The basin is outside of the bathroom. The bathroom amenities are good and comes with all the usual things, the toothbrush set comes with a good quality toothbrush, not your usual disposable ones. Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and lotion is provided. A hair dryer is provided in one of the storage compartments under the basin.

Other room features include a safe, a minibar/fridge, a Rubik’s cube (which if you solve you get a free coffee) and a little fish bowl which comes with a little introduction letter. A small chocolate is placed on each pillow each day.

Breakfast is in the restaurant located on the ground floor by the lobby. It is done on an order basis rather than buffet like most hotels. Having realised this, rather than having the breakfast in the restaurant I requested it to be taken to my room as room service. I had it as room service for the other days of my stay. The selection is basic but good and will fill you up for the morning ahead. You choose from a section of congee - sweet or savoury, bread - croissant, toast, ham sandwich or tuna sandwich, eggs - fried, scrambled, omelette with smoked salmon and drink - tea, coffee, juice etc. The breakfast also comes with a 2 bacon rashers, fruit selection, a salad and a yoghurt. The breakfast is priced at RMB45.

So to conclude I had a wonderful stay at the Crystal Orange Jianguomen Beijing, and would definitely stay here again next time I am in Beijing. Would also love to try out the Crystal Orange hotels in other cities.

I generally stay at Hotel G but could not get in on this trip. Was recommended this hotel by friend. Room is nice and comfortable. Main negative was 1) trying to figure out air con, which did not matter that much as it is a cool spring day; and 2) the breakfast which is bad and not worth rmb45 price - go grab breakfast off of street surrounding hotel. It is also difficult to find, so make sure you have hotel number so front desk and explain to taxi driver how to get here. Location is great and would consider staying here again if meetings are in this part of town.

Before moving to Beijing I always tried to stay in crystal orange. Definitely one of my favorite hotels in Beijing. Location is just perfect, very easy to get taxi and easy to get there by any means. Only problem is that staff can't speak English well.

Love their chill out music in the rooms! Wonder what mix is that...?!

The stay in this hotel is rather disappointing despite the good reviews I have seen. The hotel is located in CBD area, about 10-15 min walk from the nearest train station, 5 min away from a supermarket. Traffic in this area is terrible (one of the worst part in Beijing), it is almost impossible to find a taxi, so you are better off taking trains.

The disappointing part is hotel room size and services. The room is tiny comparing to other hotels in the same area with the same price range. And the worst part is the room services and house keeping. I staryed for almost 2 weeks, to begin with, I requested for bed sheets change after 3 days, but they never changed it for another 3 days until I make a protest to the front desk. At first they even claimed that they did change the sheet, until I told them there is still hair on the bed.

Another issue is the heater, they set the room to be at 28 degrees while it is -15 outside. I called them asking to lower then temperature in the room, but they told me they cannot adjust the temperature, they can only turn the heater on or off, no adjustments.

Also, about the membership application, after staying for 2 weeks and paid almost 10,000 RMB bill, they insisted to charge me a 40 RMB fees for the membership. What a way to do marketing.

All in all, this is a rather disappointing experience given the reviews I have seen here. While it claimed to be a 5 star hotel, it is way below typical 5 star hotel standard, in all aspectives. So come with an expectation for a 3 star hotel, then you will be very happy. However, the price is way above 3 star hotel.

Very nice and cozy hotel close to CBD, diplomatic and bar areas. Appreciated the ideal loaction and near availability of the metro. Room was nice and clean even though not the biggest room I have had. Good service in reception. Certainly recommend the hotel to solo, couple and business travellers.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of anniversary trip. The hotel looks gorgeous and the location was just over 5 minutes from the station with the silk market and few restaurant nearby but I wouldnt recommend this for female groups/single or western guest.

At night the road is quite dark and definately not a place where you want to be alone.
We personally manage to find this hotel by public transport with no problem but if you try to get a taxi to come here they normally decline you as they havent got a clue where it is which can be very annoying at 1am esp in the cold, desperate to get to the hotel.

Although their staff do try their best to help you, hardly anyone speaks English so asking for the most simple stuff like a taxi is quite difficult.

I did love the room we was in( romantic deluxe/orange delux room)so if you only care about the room then i recommend this to you. If your looking for the whole works of the hotel, this is not for you.

This hotel was ideally located for my meetings but if not would not be such a great place. Hotel was clean and tidy, staff friendly even if language was an issue, the bed was the normal solid board:-(

I just stayed at this hotel for several days on a recent trip to China. In short this really is an excellent hotel. I have stayed at other hotels and paid more than four times the price and not received such good value and service. The Crystal Orange is fantastic. If you have any business at the Global Trade Center in Beijing – its right next door. Do not book yourself into the Sheraton, its good but not better for the money. The rooms in the Crystal Orange are boutique style and all the money spent on the hotel has been spent on guest enjoyment. Whoever invested knew what they were doing. I see from other posts that people were unhappy with the breakfast. Let me tell you there is a 24 hours KFC right over the road. Like many Chinese you can go there for breakfast if you really feel you are not happy with the Crystal Orange Breakfast. Actually I thought the breakfast was OK. All the staff speak English, and there is always someone on duty who has very strong English. Many young and rich Chinese stay at this hotel. The only issue is that it’s not that big, and the website is not dual language. But let me tell you this new, fresh and extremely high quality hotel right by Beijing’s Global Trade Center will not disappoint. Great rooms, imaginatively and thoughtfully decorated, with a motivated and knowledgeable English speaking staff- all for the price of a so so hotel? Come on you’d be crazy to stay anywhere else!!

We were there for a 4 night stay.
It is centrally located and close to GuoMao offices, CBD.
However it is on a small street off JingGuoMenDaJie. Very unlikely to get an empty taxi without walking about 500 m to JingGuoMenDaJie.

The rooms are nice (we stay in the cheapest room- the only vacant non-smoking room we can book).
Bed mattress is good, the changed linen were new on 1 of the nights. Wifi signal inside the room is excellent.

A downside is that we only received a late checkout grace period of 2 hrs to 2pm (we have purchased a VIP membership for this benefit). The front desk said the computer system do not allow flexibility of an additional 30 min we would like before leaving for our flight.

One downside for this stay, the other 1/2 of the building was being converted by another company for a separate hotel. The construction (hammering and drilling)noise started just past 8 am.

The hotel is a great place stay. Location is within a 10 minute walk to the subway station, but from where the hotel sits you feel as though you are away from the hustle and bustle. Located between the Guomao and Jianguoman, you are located in the business district of beijing with the famous Silk Market about 200m (as the crow flies)

The rooms are just great. Clean, up to date, english friendly and the bathrooms are relaxing especially after long days of walking (forbidden city).

Reasons to book here:
**Considerably Cheap.
**Operates like a 4-5 star hotel
**Location!!!!!
**Feeling of comfort while being there.

Honestly, I had no dislikes and booked the hotel in June for my family who will come visit me in Beijing.
