We stayed here for one night at the beginning of November. The best things about the place are its location if you wish to hike GUBEIKOU - the wild bit between Gubeikou and Jinshanling is a lovely hike - quite long but not that tricky or difficult. The Noodle soup has to be eaten to be believed and is extraordinarily...

Located in a charming little town right by the Great Wall. Hiked on the wall all day without seeing another person. Charming rooms and helpful staff along with great vegetarian food. A bit difficult to find, tucked away in the back of the town - we had to pay a little old lady who lived around the corner to show...

Note to travelers booking on this site - this is only a reservation for your room, NOT payment. In our experience we had to pay once we got to the hotel, I thought I had paid already. A bit surprising since we weren't prepared for that and it didn't mention it on Trip Advisor. Other than that, it's a fantastic...

A friend recommended me the hostel. We've stayed at the hostel for one night. The staff was really friendly and was speaking good English. He explained us the tours we can make at the Gubeikou Great Wall. First day we had awesome weather and we did a 4 hour hike. The dinner was great and the prices are okay. Next...

We booked a double room, it was really comfy, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good with lots of fresh fruit too. Joe and the team were so helpful, lots of hints for where to go for various walks on the Great Wall. You can be on the wall in this area and see no other people,...

My mom and I have stayed at this hotel twice. In May 2015 we brought my two cousins who were visiting from the US. They were stunned, and it was their favorite part of their two weeks in China. In September 2016 my mom and I came for two nights during the Mid-Autumn festival. Both times we went for long...

We stayed here while visiting the Great Wall of Gubeikou in a private room. Rooms are quite Scandinavian in style and finished to a very high standard. Beautiful wood burning stove for those visiting in winter. Japanese toilets which I have mixed feelings about. Nice rainfall shower. The bed is the softest we've found in China! Staff weren't the most...

Stayed here for 1 night in a deluxe private room in order to hike the wild Great Wall at Gubeiko. The room was stunning with a lovely soft bed - a rarity in China. While the deluxe rooms are expensive they are finished to a very high standard. The folk village it is located in was very quiet when we...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This is Joe (Qiao), who is a big fan of the Great Wall. I moved to Gubeikou Great Wall after traveling to lots of different types of the Great Wall: 1, Gubeikou Great Wall is the wild wall connected with Jinshanling Great Wall and Simatai Great Wall. 2, Our house is located in the countryside, not in DOWNTOWN Beijing. 3, If you want to experience REAL and WILD Great Wall, Gubeikou is the one what you must do. Situated in Gu Bei Kou, just 50-metres away from the Great Wall, this friendly house features modern architecture, as well as free Wi-Fi and free parking. Featuring stone walls and wooden furnishings, heated rooms come with Great Wall views. There are shared bathroom and heated toilet facilities in the courtyard. There are private rooms with an iPod docking station, electric kettle and en suite bathrooms available. The Great Wall Box House (Beijing) offers outdoor seating in the courtyard, a kitchen and a common dining area. Local Chinese dishes are cooked daily by the property. It is 3 km to Gu Bei Kou Railway Station and 100 km to Beijing International Airport from The Great Wall Box House. ... more   less
