The hotel is located at a very convenient location... Many major tourist spots like Forbidden Kingdom, Tianmen Square are within walking distance...
Plus most bus tours for Summer Palace, Great wall etc start right at the gate of the hotel...

Situated at the heart of the city, very near Wangfujing street best place for shopaholics. And it is near to Tiananmen square & forbidden city.
Hotel staff were helpful in booking a cab for me in numerous occasions, as we chat is not available for Indian and due to language barrier couldn’t install Chinese other taxi apps. They were kind enough to locate me some of the Indian restaurants and booked the cab for same. Food was good as it had western cuisine (easy for western origin travellers)

Hotel is a little bit old, but that in itself is a vibe on it's own.
We had a short stay of one night.
We were very glad that Mike, one of the Hotel workers, was able to speak fluent english and help us to get around. He also helped us book a trip to the Great Wall for this one day.
If you are looking to stay at a Hotel in Beijing i would recommend going here.

Unfortunately had to cancel our group reservation in January 2020 due to COVID-19.

Our refund request was approved straight away and since then I have been waiting for our refund to be processed. We are now in February 2021 and still no refund!

I understand lockdowns etc however the hotel seems to be operating as somewhat normal now with regards to accepting reservations and such so there is no excuse now that we haven't been refunded and that our emails are only responded to after WEEKS of us chasing.

This kind of service in unacceptable and the issue needs to be resolved ASAP. We have worked with this hotel for years, which makes this situation even worse.

I will note that Crown Plaza in Wanfujing is a nice stay. I went there with my mom, friend and his mom. The serve people greeted us warmly and welcomed us into the hotel. There were lots of jade bracelets and other accessories you could by at prices that are highly ripped off. My friend and I split up and went to separate rooms. Since it was only my mom and I, the rooms were accustomed to two people. It was small and cozy, with a great view of the other building, I shut the curtains and dint open them till the…actually I never opened them. There were snacks in the fridge but they cost money to eat and drink. So we didn't touch them. When we got unpacked we joined my friend ad his mom for dinner. The food was very exceptional, the steak was big but I got it down.
The next day there were nice people trying to cater to my every whim. I didn't need them too but I thought that it was nice. Overall i thought that the food was 4 star and the service was 5. When i exited the building I heard people say goodbye. I think that Crown Plaza is a very nice place to chill and also have fun. I would like to go again! (Written by Jonathan's student, Cameron.)

Husband and I just back from a wonderful week at the newly opened Crowne Plaza Beijing Hotel! I don't know what this hotel was before but all I can say now that it is reopened is WOW WOW WOW! This place is a true gem - just Gorgeous! We got a great rate off their own website for about $112.00 a night - this was on their club floor with daily buffet breakfast and nightly happy hour with more food from 5pm-8pm. The food was amazing - anything and everything you wanted at breakfast. Toast, Bagels, muffins, pastries, eggs cooked to order, all types of coffee, tea, juices - you name it - they had it or would get it for you. The evening social hour was great - full open bar and all kind of great food to start your night off - dumplings, egg rolls etc. So cool and free internet, cnn tv and newspapers around the world! The lobby is breathtaking upon entering - all glass, marble, water fountains. Great downstairs restaurant - all open, light airy - open 24 hours - you can get anything to eat there - chinese and american. Very clean and very reasonable. Fun bar too off the lobby as well that is opened very late. The staff at the hotel is amazing - they will do anything for you and help you in any way possible with tours, taxi cabs - you name it - they are right on top of everything. I have been all around the world and this place was amazing! The rooms are HUGE!! Beautiful sitting area, fridge in your room stocked daily with sodas and chinese beer that is complimentary. Complimentary water, robes and slippers. Beautiful soft bed, nice soft down pillows, sheets, comforters. The bathroom is like a small marble apartment - huge with huge walk in shower and separate jacuzzi tub. I am telling you this hotel is unbelievable and for the price - you can't beat it. The hotel is located on one of the most fashionable streets. Right outside your door you have everything. Bank with cash machine right next door, huge shopping mall across the street, pharmacy about a block away. Beautiful church next door that is really pretty for picture taking. We also found the shopping outside of the Crowne Plaza better than the Pearl or Silk Market...lot's of vendors and very good prices on everything you can think of!!! Forbidden City is just like a 20 minute walk away and the cabs are so cheap for you to get around in. If this is your first time in Beijing this hotel is a great starting place. Beautiful lobby, wonderful soft, plush rooms, very professional staff, good breakfast and happy hour and very good prices. Email the hotel directly. They are now fully opened. This spot is a true jem! You will not be disappointed!! Fee free to email me at travelwblondie@aol if I can help you with anything on this hotel or Beijing. Happy travels to all.

I think most of the reviews sum up this hotel rather well. It is billed as a five-star hotel but feels more like a good four-star place. It is, in my opinion, excellent value. The rooms are a good size, well maintained and clean. The staff are friendly and respectful and if not always word perfect then at least very competent in English and certainly keen. There's an adequate little gym and pool and very reasonably-priced massage available. The best thing about this hotel, however, especially if it is your first time in Beijing, is its location - slap bang in the middle of Wangfujing, the city's principal shopping street. There's everything you'll need right outside your door from banks, restaurants, pharmacies, shopping malls. You can stroll down to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen in about 15-20 minutes. There are always taxis right outside the hotel (and taxis are so ridiculously cheap in China.....just make sure you can see the meter) and the staff will be happy to help with any directions. They are also very flexible about letting you store stuff if you're off travelling further afield than Beijing.

All in all I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for a first visit to Beijing - not pricey by European or North American standards, very comfortable and extremely well-located.

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel twice during a recent first trip to China.
As a base for touring in and around the Beijing area you could not better its location or quality.
I cannot comment on how comfortable this hotel was before its recent renovations, however I can say that it is first rate now!!!
The levels of service and the welcoming attention that was provided by the staff only added to the very positive opinion that I have of this hotel.
The breakfast buffet and the standard of cleanliness around the hotel are superb.
The hotel is located at the top end of Wangfujing Street, which is one of the premier shopping street in Beijing. It is also within a 10-15 minute walk of Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City and 5 minutes from the underground station that is located at the bottom of Wangfujing Street. All in all a perfect and safe location.
Beijing is a huge city and with all of the recent modernisation and hotel building that has taken place being close to an underground station is a big plus, for although taxis are very cheap, the traffic congestion means that travel by this means is very slow. On the other hand the underground is cheap, clean, safe and very reliable.

I had a GUARANTEED RESERVATION for this hotel made with the Intercontinental Hotel Group in the U.S.A. When my taxi arrived, I found the hotel shuttered up and had to look for another hotel at 10.00pm laden with 3 pieces of luggage.

Repeated written complaints to their Guest Relations did not even elicit a reply. So I assume that that is they do business - make reservations regardless of the availability of services.

The Crowne Plaza Beijing is a great base for touring Beijing. The Forbidden City is well within walking distance and many restaurants, sites and markets are a short walk or cab ride away.

The hotel is much like any other four/five star hotel you will encounter in Asia. We asked for an outside facing room after reading previous posts about the noise from the piano and entertainment. The room was very new and the amenities/bed were great. The fixtures and furniture were very modern and a pleasant surprise.

We did eat at the restaurant (western lobby restaurant) on one occasion and were happy with the selection and quality of the food. We ventured outside the hotel for most of our meals and had a great experience in Beijing.

Upon arrival in Beijing, our airline lost my wife’s baggage. We mentioned this when checking in and they took down our baggage claim number and stated they would follow up on our behalf. Not only did they follow up, they provided us with frequent updates and advised when the bag was found and provided an accurate timeline of when it would arrive at the hotel. Great job.

We visited the Great Wall and Summer Palace in one day by hiring a taxi for the day. We negotiated a flat rate directly with a taxi driver outside the hotel and were happy with the experience.

We also visited a foot massage place right outside the hotel. It cost very little for a 90 minute foot/leg massage and got rid of the jet lag and sore feet right away. Highly recommended for any traveller.

Another thing we did discover once we left Beijing and arrived in Hong Kong. The shopping in Beijing is much better and cheaper than Hong Kong. The Silk Market, Eye Glass Market and Pearl Market are must see attractions!
