Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One can easily tell from its decoration that the hotel has gone through its glorious past in the early phase of China’s Reform & Opening Up. The hotel is centrally located with a close proximity to the metro station with a great variety of restaurants in the neighbourhood. The staff carry a welcoming attitude and they are always ready to help. In particular, a girl named Jessica who serves at the breakfast buffet restaurant certainly made me feel at home. This is not a fancy place but you would enjoy the convenience here!

The hotel is conveniently located near to metro train station which transports you to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square within 30 minutes and at low cost. The reception area is very smart and lounge area comfortable. Breakfast is good and offers Western and Asian choices. Rooms are well appointed and beds comfortable.

Stayed 3 nights & whilst the atrium and public area was lovely the rooms were tired. Also supposed to be non smoking which clearly it isn’t. Buffet restaurant particularly at breakfast can be chaos with not enough capacity although the food was okay. Close to underground station and not too far from Tiananmen Sq so good position from that point of view. Costa nearby as well. Generally a reasonable, relatively inexpensive hotel in a good position for travelling around Beijing sights. Tired rooms in need of upgrading !

Excellent for a couple of nights in Beijing; great entrance and atrium, rooms comfortable, ours had a walk in shower and a bath. Breakfast was good, with good western and Chinese choice, but the room seemed small for the size of the hotel so not easy to find a seat at busy times.

We were part of a large group and the Presidential was our first destination. The room was lovely with twin beds. There was a console on the table between the beds and this controlled the lights and heating. We didn’t find that out on the first night, unfortunately. The atrium is amazing with full size palm trees best viewed from the glass fronted lift. We ate breakfast only at the hotel. It catered for western tastes well enough. Staff were lovely. Look out for the liveried doorman-a splendid sight.

We stayed for 3 nights in room 606. The hotel is in a central location close to shops, bars and restaurants. Check in was quick and efficient and the lobby is very impressive. The hotel has several lifts so no waiting around. The room had comfortable twin beds, bedside cabinets with lights, a desk with a chair, plenty of clothes space, wardrobe, safe, tv with remote, tea and coffee with a kettle. Hairdryer in a drawer. Fridge and mini bar. A/C, Dressing gowns and slippers. 2 small bottles of water were provided each day. The room was very hot and the A/C did not kick in. We found out that it had been turned off as the seasons changed from summer to winter months. The curtain to the room would not close fully but this was rectified by the reception staff. The bathroom fittings are tired and it could do with a refurb. Having said that there were plenty of quality towels, power shower, bath, constant hot water and complimentary toiletries. Breakfast consists of a Western and Chinese style buffet. The selection was very good. On one morning we had to wait for cups, plates, some food items and coffee. Think a lot of people came to breakfast at the same time causing the shortages. We found most of the staff to be approachable, professional and welcoming. The door staff were always warm and friendly. The hotel was not as good as some we stayed in during our time in China. Even though there were some issues during our visit, I would not discount this as a place to stay.

On a Mercury Travel tour and were changed to this hotel as it was allegedly better than our original destination. The lobby was 4 star but the bedroom needed a complete refurb, wallpaper peeling and ill fitting doors. I don't mind rooms like this but when they pretend to be much better than they are it's annoying. The staff were pleasant but communication was difficult.

Poor customer service - a lady named Nydia, served me while check in. There was an issue for my AMEX card transaction and I told her that do you have any alternative way. The way that she approach me was rude in term of her tone and she was trying to show her face to me. I told her that this is not the kind of customer service for so called 5 stars hotel have. However, she said to me that this is the way that she treats her customer always and doesn’t know why I complained about her attitude. Well, what I can said is poor customer and please, whoever going to book this hotel, you have to think twice. Hotel room - poor room ventilation, smoking smell, poor lighting and not suitable for work although the toilet is clean and bright and the room is huge.

Was in Beijing for 3 days for business meetings. It's a nice, well-decorated hotel, and the rooms are large. Bathrooms need some updating, however. And the restaurant space is very small for the size of the hotel. The breakfast buffet is quite good, but I had to wait long periods for a seat (much less table) to open up. It's not at the standard of the international luxury hotels, but it's quite good and is very reasonably priced.

We stayed here as part of a Silk Holidays tour. The hotel is well suited to Western tourists with modern amenities. There was a bit of a sink and shower drainage problem in our room, but it was tolerable. I appreciated that there was an indoor pool and very large at that. Chinese was no problem for us as our guide could translate as needed. The free WiFi was very frustrating as it was at all places we stayed. Very spotty and many applications simply refuse to function. You have to be prepared to go through some withdrawal if you don't have a data plan.
