This is my second stay at this hotel within the last two months. It has a reasonably good location (I feel Beijing is such a big city, it is hard to say anywhere is a good location though) and a good price. Although the famous Wangfujing eating street was closed for renovation on both occasions which was annoying.

The reception staff are helpful and the concierge organised us a private van to take us to and from the Great Wall for 800RMB. The driver Yang was really nice.

The lobby looks lovely, but the room is quite outdated and the restaurant is in a really weird feature of the hotel making it feel very cold and empty.

The breakfast was pretty good but I wouldn't pay the 'on the day rate' for it, but good if its included. Otherwise just go to Wagas or McDonalds less than 5 mins away for breakfast at a fraction of the price.

The bedrooms are what look the most dated. The room is pretty dark and the aircon is very hard to work leaving us boiling most of the time!

The bathroom is nice with a good bath and separate shower.

We also got room service one night which was really tasty.

I would probably stay here again for the fact I am now familiar with the location and it's usually a good price but it isn't anything special really.

Made the mistake to book the night before so had to pay full rate again. Even though it was very low season and traveling with kids no flexibility from management.
Twin beds very small with kids
Slow process to check in and difficult communication in English

My family and I stayed at the Sunworld Dynasty back in September 2019. This hotel was booked and recommend by our travel agent in Australia. It claims to be a 5-star hotel however I think that might be out of date. The hotel itself is clean but does seem a little old and dated. The breakfast buffet was probably the highlight. The beds are comfortable but there is not
enough light in the rooms and there was mould in the bathrooms. There are hardly any English speaking concierge or reception staff which can make it difficult to communicate.
Not sure I’d stay here again.

I am genuinely shocked at the bad reviews. We had an absolutely marvellous stay at the hotel. The room was clean, well stocked with little luxuries. The pool was marvellous with complimentary towels and slippers already in each locker. The aircon was set at 24° and would reset when you leave the room and take your card, but was quick to cool when coming back and being turned down. All of the staff were extremely helpful, in arranging an appointment at Tiananmen and a taxi to the airport. Clean, quiet, a real home away from home. Wonderful hotel

The Tianlun Dynasty hotel is next door to the Crowne Plaza hotel on Wangfuging Street. We originally had reservations at the Crowne Plaza, but since the hotel is still closed for renovation, they put us up at the Tianlun 10th floor Executive Floor. The rooms and bathroom were clean. They gave us fruits when we arrived and departed, along with newpaper on weekdays. We stayed there for 7 days.

The breakfast buffet was good. They provided hot dim sum and some asian dishes (such as greens, chow mein, and fried rice), along with American (bacon, sausage, french toast, pancakes, make your own omelets). If you're a vegetarian, they mark each dish as Muslim or non-muslim food. They also provide a variety of cereals and desserts, as well as fountain of juices (apple, grapefruit, etc) and coffee and tea.

We were a little skeptical about drinking the fountain juices, but half way through our stay, we tried it and we never got sick. Also, the hotel provided complimentary bottled water and botled water to use in the bathroom (to brush your teeth). We forgot to use the bathroom bottled water a couple of times, but we never got sick.

There is a currency exchange on site, along with a concierge. I agree that they speak limited English but they know how to get to the touristy sites and the more popular restaurants. Be sure to ask for a taxi with air conditioning otherwise, you may get whoever is called up next. The larger taxis cost a little more. There appeared to be three sizes: larger sedan, medium size compact, and then really compact. Taxis are cheap. Approximately $ 1.00 US (or 10RMB) when you first get in. We took taxis everywhere, including the Summer Palace ($8.00 one way) but not to the Great Wall.

Although the hotel was closed, the staff at the Crowne Plaza was very helpful. They arranged for their hotel car to take us to the Great Wall. They also spoke a little more English than at the Tianlun. But if you think about it, the Crowne is more world-wide while the Tianlun is a Chinese hotel.

Yes, they did have music in the atrium, but it stopped around 10:00pm. I agree that there really isn't a view of the Forbidden City out of a hotel window. However, if you stay on the 10th floor, during the evening reception (whcih was also included in the price of the room), you can see the roof tops of the Forbidden City if you look to the far right. The evening reception offered appetizers, desserts, and drinks, and a good view of the church plaza next door and Wangfuging street.

The staff is very nice on the 10th floor but they are more accomodating to Asian businessman so don't get turned off if they all of a sudden direct their attention to them versus you (a tourist).

Overall, the hotel was comfortable, the food delicious, and the staff friendly. However, I would probably stay at the Crowne Plaza and book their room/breakfast. They seem more informative and speak better English. The Tianlun has a lot of restaurants (a little pricey $ 15 - 20 US) but the most important thing is we never got sick eating the food or drinks at the hotel.

The mall is within a short walking distance. It has a Mcdonald's, small bread bakery, and Starbucks, as well as a Pizza hut restaurant and yoshinoya's. BTW - check out the souvenior shops before buying souveniors at the stores. We bought a puzzle at the toy store for $ 7.00 US but it went for $2.00 US at the souvenior stores. There are a couple of souvenior shops on the strip and then an alley way that parallels the strip.

Just a quick note: skip Ming's Tomb. All you'll see are chambers (rooms) of concrete, an authentic chair, but the coffins is a replica and no other treasures are displayed. if you are into architecture or like stone, then it might be okay; otherwise, we thought it was a tourist trap. Instead, visit Sacred Way. It's near Ming's Tomb. It's about one mile path lined with stoned creatures that lead to a small temple. We found it more enjoyable.
Also, if you go to the National Acrobatic Show skip buying the DVD if you live in the US. The DVD is in a format that is different than our television set. We think Europe and Asian might be okay, but they don't tell you when they sell you the DVD.

If you want to avoid the crowds, go to Mutianyu instead of Badaling Great Wall. Be sure to take the enclosed cable car up in order to walk down on the Wall; otherwise, if you take the seat ride up, you have to walk upwards on the Wall - which looked tough in the summer heat. After hiking down the wall, we took the toboggin ride down. It's fun and worth it.

Also, the Temple of Heaven was closed for renovation (getting ready for the 2008 Olympics), as well as Bet Nay (sp?) park. some of the buildings at the Lama Temple and Forbidden city was also closed. If you can wait, go after the Olympics, everything should be renovated by then.

We recently stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of our 18 day tour in China. Room was very nice with a view of the church and open courtyard next door. The inner courtyard was beautiful! We had great breakfast buffets every morning with both full Western and full Chinese choices, including an omelet/egg station. This hotel is downtown just off the main shopping area and is handy to The Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. We would highly recommend this hotel.

I booked a standard room for 4 nites in Sept 2005 for a reasonable price thru Expedia. The front desk's English was limited but enough for me to understand. I used the hotel's tour & foreign exchange service, located in the lobby. The tour to Great Wall/Ming Tombs was enjoyable, cost about $42US. The tour is 8am-5pm, the van/bus seats 16 people (picks up other hotel guests too) & the tour guide, Lisa, spoke English well & would always translate into English whenever she described something. The music in the courtyard did not bother me, I was on the 6th floor. I visited the pool area (empty at the time) but did not go in it myself. The hotel provided 2 small bottles of water every day & a thermos. I used the thermos to boil water to brush my teeth. The China water is very dirty/may not agree with your body's system. In the bathtub, I ran some cold water & noticed that dirt collected at the bottom. The bathroom had a convenient laundry line to dry clothes on if U prefer to wash your own clothes instead of sending it out. I enjoyed the Chinese TV movies, which had English subtitles....good variety that kept me awake. LOL.

Was offered by Crowne plaza to stay in this hotel after Crowne plaza failed to open on 1/11/05. This hotel is directly oposite the Cowne plaza. Stayed for 3 nights in TianLun Dynasty. A very good hotel, excellent rooms, specially requested prior to booking, twin beded room and was given 1 large bed (5') and 1 large single (4') which was fine with us as we have 2 adults and 1 child. Their standard twin beded room is 2 no of single beds. Front desk is very helpful and efficient, Concige was strong and house keeping is very good. Plus point, in room dining is 24 hours ordered a very good Hainan chicken rice for supper. Location is very good, Macdonalds, Bakery is a short 3 minutes walk away in Tong An market complex. The hawker street is just 3 minutes walk away. Would recomend anyone to stay there. Only minus point is that there is no direct access to this hotel from Wang fu zing. you would have to walk to a side lane to enter through the main entrance.

Great hotel & centrally located! Extremely pleased with my stay. Well-maintained rooms. Excellent service & helpful staff. Executive floor with limited view of forbidden city & complimentary continental breakfast, evening appetizers and drinks (although breakfast buffet included in rate). Very pleased with my stay. Given the bad experience I encountered with the Prime Hotel (also listed as a 4 star hotel), I could not believe the diffence in service & accommodations!
