Modern fairly new hotel; conveniently located to the Forbidden Palace and major attractions. Serviceable staff at front desk who spoke English. Breakfast options were excellent - both a wide range of Western foods with very good French pastries as well as Chinese foods - we mixed both to try a bit of everything. Only downside was the bed...the mattresses are...

Beinjing can appear industrial at times but this boutique hotel has a number of pleasant surprises. There is a stunning central attrium with fairy lights on strands at night and bold plants by day. Many rooms having a contemplative balcony with plants. The rooms are spacious, comfortable beds, good lighting and free wifi access that works. English TV channels are...

Pros The rooms are clean and modern The bed is comfortable. Which in China is a big deal. They love their beds hard. The staff is friendly. Some speak English better than others. Tony is your guy. There's a great Peking Duck restaurant across the street. Very close to all the main attractions and Wang Fujiang shopping district. Cons The...

Each room has a courtyard garden and clever design. Front desk staff are attentive and the whole hotel has a boutique feel to it. Walking distance to Tian'en Men Square, The Forbidden City and Wang Fujiang shopping mall and night markets. Smoking areas well segregated from the non-smoking hotel areas. "Tony" (anglicized version of his name) on the front desk...

Hotel Kapok offers a great location and decent amenities at a great value. It is located just blocks away from the Forbidden City and not far from the metro. The hotel is a minimalist aesthetic and offers the basics in each room. The courtyard that some of the rooms have are quite nice, but do not have direct sunlight and...

I enjoyed this hotel - the location is near the exit to the Forbidden City and down the street from a shopping area. The hotel itself was clean, well lite and very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was enjoyable and worth the small price. I would stay here again if I return to Beijing.

Nice location - close to Wangfujin & Forbidden city. Clean and simple room facilities. Sometime other guests are very noise especially if they are in their private garden. Because of the buidling design, the room was lack of sunlights even I opened the curtains, and my room was the "inner" room, so the window are far away from the building...

Nice hotel with central location, near both the Forbidden City and Wangfujing shopping street. A bit far from the metro though. We were picked up at the airport by the hotels driver, he was nice and drove safely. We had ordered a family suite, and the room was modern and spacious, but not as clean as a room in a...

The Hotel was a disappointment in so many ways. Photo's of the hotel do not depict the current look of the hotel. It is tired and requires a makeover. Our room was at the back overlooking a dark gloomy internal garden. A construction site was close by and worked to all hours. The bathroom had no privacy for the toilet....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Kapok in Beijing is a uniquely designed boutique hotel located in the heart of this ancient Chinese city. A modern looking boutique hotel crafted with a touch of Chinese influence, next to the Forbidden City in Beijing. The lantern, a traditional icon in China, is used as a concept of exterior design, which breaks the boundaries between inner space and outdoor environment. An unconventional layout presents a spacious area; the ample use of glass enhances the natural light and the bamboo courtyard in the lobby slows the pac e of urban life. Hotel Kapok consists of 89 guestrooms and 16 suites, appointed with small gardens on the balcony. The interior design focuses on simplicity and pureness: white is all-pervading in the room, wooden floors and glass built bathrooms liberates the traveler's body and soul. The "Staircase Library" certainly increases the joy of reading. Hotel Kapok delivers personalized services while providing conveniences such as restaurants, bars, meeting rooms, business and fitness center.Hotel Kapok is located in the heart of Beijing , on the east side of the Forbidden City, minutes away from the famous shopping district Wangfujing. Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, Beijing Train Station is also close by. ... more   less
