Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a very small hotel in terms of its footprint, so although it has over 20 floors, there are only two rooms per floor. This is not unusual in HK, where space is at such a premium. But the hotel is great value for its excellent location, just a 10-minute walk to the heart of HK's Central district, and with subway stations within a 5-minute walk. The rooms were surprisingly not as small as I had expected, and I had a suite with a separate living room. The bathroom is spacious, with a full bathtub and shower area behind glass doors. The room also had a kitchenette with microwave, mid-sized fridge, kitchen sink, Nespresso machine, tea bags, kettle, plates, etc. The hotel also has a gym, but no restaurant. But dozens of restaurants are on that same block, so it's not an issue. One caveat: The lobby is reached only by a short flight of stairs, so be ready to carry your luggage up. They have a small hydraulic elevator but that is only for wheelchairs.

Needed a few nights in HK prior to picking up our cruise. Chose hotel due to location and good reviews. Not disappointed at all. Easy walk to all the places we wanted to go, and so easy to ferry or MTR. Very welcoming staff. Very clean room. Within 100m you will find a great breakfast place (knead) and many restaurants including 2 in the Michelin guide! We had a very happy stay.

Superb location Best shower pressure Twinning tea bags and Nespresso coffee machine and capsules Tiny and basic room with basic toiletries Stayed at this hotel from 1st to 4th October 2023. Despite being golden week, the area where this hotel is located (Sheung Wan) was not overly crowded. Easy access via mtr exit A2. Famous eatries within walking distance Mammy egglet Yi lok goose Tsim chai kee wontan noodles Jenny cookies Overall had a great stay, buy as HK Is so densely populated, don't expect a huge hotel room, lift can be slow since the workers in the restaurant and hotel staff are all using the same lift as the guests. So may call soft mattress but I call it lumpy, lumpy pillows which hurt the neck. No view whatsoever but location of the hotel was sufficient.

I stayed for two months in a one bedroom apartment at The Mercer and very much enjoyed my stay. The apartment was spacious with a small kitchen, dining and sitting area, separate bedroom. Decent storage space and bathroom. The building is in Sheung Wan, very close to Central and thus walking distance from many major office buildings, shops and restaurants. There's hundreds of places to eat and drink within five minutes walk. There's a small gym and a free laundry room, very useful for long stay guests. Staff were friendly and helpful. You can also book rooms for shorter stays.

We need a short stay before we leave Hong Kong and we choose here because on its famous gay friendly environment and staff. That’s true though. Unfortunately, the staff’s attitude upset me a lot. Maybe we look not able to understand local language. I heard a few times from the staff talk about our race, our sexual orientation whenever we passed by. We understood that chit chat on guest is normal but if comments with raciss and bias, at least should keep the voice low…as some of the guests understood Your language. Sorry, my personal feeling might not apply to others especially you might not understand. But it offenses me… very much Thank you

Had an executive suite, good value for money (great prices in HK at the moment, for obvious reasons). Large space, apartment style. So had a separate bedroom area and lounge/kitchenette. Work for me, 2x bottle of water per day, Nespresso machine, fridge and microwave. Breakfast meant to be included, but they no longer do here. That could be annoying for some people. Location is good for CBD and loads of bars, restaurants etc around here.. Recommend as a tourist hotel as well as its in Central and you get everywhere reasonably quickly from here

We stayed at the Mercer for our 25th wedding anniversary for a week in November. The hotel is in a fantastic location, walking distance to trendy bars and restaurants, trains, trams and buses! Also only a 15 minute walk to the ferry. The hotel room is quite large and was very clean with very comfortable bed! Also a separate living area to the bedroom which was great! Although breakfast was supposed to be included they are not doing breakfasts anymore but the hotel paid for our breakfasts each day at a cafe around the corner which was also really lovely! The staff were also very helpful and very friendly! We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend!

This hotel was in an ideal location for us. We walked every where.....temples, museums, peak tram and the ferry to Kowloon. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with information on where to go and what to see. The room was a good size, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was also included.

I stayed downtown at this very nice hotel, friendly competent helpful staff, within 5-15 minute walking distance of many amenities, shopping, restaurants, business meetings, or a 30 minute Uber or taxi ride to other parts of Hong Kong. Great breakfast and small but adequate gym, comfortable room (suite) and bathroom.
