We decided to spend a night at Tai O Heritage Hotel - which was a restored former police station. When you checked in at hte reception, you will see two holding cells now modeled as a small library and luggage storage. The staff are generally nice but seems like they lack training. There was no hello (or a smile) back...

Came for a weekend bday celebration and we loved every small detail of the hotel. It's v cozy and run by staff u can feel that really love the place. The village is very quaint and full of culture worth a walk in the evening when the tourists start leaving. Our sunset walk was lovely. The easiest way to get...

We loved this place so much that we have booked another night next month. Have a drink at sunset on the terrace, all to yourselves. Important to know that this heritage property is open to the public until 6 PM, and when we stayed for one night at the start of Golden Week, there was a steady stream of tourists...

Stayed recently in the Sea Tiger room, being upstairs I was well away from the day tourists, which I understand as the hotel is listed as a heritage site. Room had superb 180 degree views from the balcony, & in this regard could not be bettered. Staying for 2 nights, the only negative aspect is the complimentary breakfast for 2....

It's a lovely property, but most of the day you feel like you are in a zoo. Gazillions of tourists come by, take photos, talk loudly, peek into your room. I understand the government requires the hotel to be open to the public for better part of the day, but surely there's a better way to organize it or at...

Beautifully restored 1902 Police station. The history is well displayed with interesting information. We stayed in an upstairs suite which was spacoius and very comfortable. Also more private than the downstairs bedrooms. Tranquil and scenic setting, good service, very good food in the Lookout restaurant. A short walk to Tai O fishing village. Would highly recommend a visit.

Converted from the Tai O police station to a hotel, 9 rooms offer 2 double beds and a comfortable bathroom. Small for $200 per night but the payoff is in the South China Sea view and quintessential white dolphins. This hotel and village is a destination in of itself. From Hong Kong center you need to take either the tram,...

Living in Tung Chung, I came here with my partner after deciding to explore Tai O. We were very excited to find a venue that had a great view, great feel.... and then the food came. For anyone seeking to explore the outer reaches of Hong Kong, away from the shopping malls and eateries this is a great choice. Its location is both remote yet not difficult to get to, the renovation of the building from its past as a police station into a very comfortable boutique hotel has been executed exceptionally well. That the staff...

Tai O Heritage Hotel is a unique heritage hotel with a lot of history. A brief research will tell you that it was a historic police outpost. The property is owned by the government, and the hotel company is simply leasing and running it. Therefore, they need to open the property to public during a large part of the day....
