Neighbourhood
Jordan / Yau Ma Tei
The Jordan and Yau Ma Tei neighbourhood is where you will find some of the more authentic areas of Hong Kong. Not as glamourous or busy as its neighbours Mong Kok to the north or Tsim Sha Tsui to the south, Yau Ma Tei is often mistakenly overlooked by visitors on their trips to Hong Kong. Exploring parts of this area makes you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. A large part of the neighbourhood draws from the rich history of Temple Street, stretching from Jordan to Yau Ma Tei, where a mix of dai pai dongs (outdoor restaurants), market stalls, fortune tellers and old karaoke bars bring out the history and culture of the area. The neighbourhood is a showcase of diversity – different ethnicities, cultures, and a mix of old and new.

Budget friendly, super clean room, quiet, terrific location (right on Nathan road, easy walk to everything). The staff is very attentive and friendly. Much better than a chain hotel - they try harder.

It was my 2nd time here and still satisfied with my stay. We were upgraded to superior twin room with Nathan road as view. We were also able to check in early around 1030am which was really appreciated. Room is spacious with twin beds, aircon is functioning, there was tea and complimentary water as well. Bathroom is spacious with bath tub and basic toiletries. Staff are all professional and super attentive to guests. Wifi is also a plus. Location, value and staff are really the assets of this hotel. Will definitely stay here again👍

My husband and I have stayed at the Shamrock Hotel twice now, and have enjoyed ourselves both times. The hotel is conveniently located on Nathan Street, with buses stopping right outside and Jordan metro station within easy walking distance. The staff are brilliant, considerate and attentive. The rooms are practical and my fussy eater of a husband could find plenty to eat at the buffet breakfasts. Will not hesitate to stay at the Shamrock Hotel again.

Pros +Amazing staff, very helpful and accommodating and will often go above and beyond to make you feel very welcomed. I was very impressed with the level of service. +Room is very dark at night for a great sleep +Toiletries included - even a razor +The location is absolutely perfectly situated and next to subway Cons +Nothing, had everything we needed and gave us all the help we asked for and more. THANK YOU. Additional info +We stayed in the cheapest room available +I did not eat the breakfast so I cannot comment there +I noticed a business centre but not sure what this is

Good location, great breakfast, able to check in before 3pm since the rooms were ready, safe and fridge in the room, small bottle of water daily for each guest, good aircon. Walkingdistance to e.g. the StarFerry terminal (1.7 km), the Macau terminal (about 1.4 km), the Market Street Temple (opens at 5pm) and other central places in Kowloon. WiFi ok as well. Only thing we didn't like was the carpet on the floor.

Is there a gym?
No. There is a business center, it offers free WiFi and room service is available. It's clean, relatively inexpensive for a hotel and its location is ideal if the Temple Street night market is on your itinerary.

There doesn't seem to be a question here. You might want to contact the hotel about your reservation.

You enter the hotel from the street level, and you can even see the reception from the outside - at the ground floor .- when looking through the big glass doors. There are two separate door entrances next to each other - one with just a one-step "stairs" and one with a slightly angled flat ground. The standard rooms are about 14 m²/151 ft² in size (the hotel website says: "120 - 170 sq. ft."), with a separate bathroom that even has a bathtub (though the website says: "Bathroom facilities with Bathtub or Shower Booth"), which is unusual by Hong Kong standard (you do not have to squat over the toilet like most other "standard room" hotels). All standard rooms should have windows (but try to get the ones that have a window to the side or main road), and I suggest you specify this when booking. My advice is to check out the pictures on the Shamrock Hotel (Hong Kong) page here on Tripadvisor in which you will see both hotel and visitor's photos of the entrance, the different rooms, bathrooms, etc. I have stayed at Shamrock Hotel two times now, and I highly recommend the breakfast buffet in the Shamrock Hotel Restaurant, either if you book with or without breakfast included - I think the extra cost separately if not included is HKS125 (including tips and tax).
