First off, Sabang is very small. Location is less important here than most places. You can walk from just about any point in Sabang to another point in less than 10 minutes. Next, there is no real beach in Sabang itself. If you come here looking for a nice sandy beach, you will be disappointed. It's basically a place to dive. I have stayed in about 4 different places in Sabang and overall, I like this place the best. Most of the places range from 30 - 40 US dollars. There really is no big difference in price. I like this place because the rooms, bathrooms, and beds are all big, clean, and well maintained. It has everything you need, a fridge, a nice quiet air conditioner, and a nice strong shower with hot water. I probably wouldn't dive with them although the rates are very competitive, and their equipment is almost new. However, I have been diving with Big Apple for a long time and feel most comfortable with them. The a few negative aspects about the place is that it's on the main strip up the hill from the pier, and EVERYTIME you pass by, everybody will try to rent you a scooter. Also, the TV's have terrible picture quality. I rarely watch TV, but the units in the suites, the room that I have stayed in, are basically useless. And lastly, the wifi is very spotty.

We booked 3 rooms Cause there are 7 of us.
We stayed at this hotel for our diving vacation.
The room are clean and big enough for us!
The most amazing thing is the king bed.
I love the bed so much that I don't even want to wake!
The staffs are polite and helpful.
I would love to visit again when I go to Sabang!

My wife, daughter and myself stayed here for three days in september,6th,7th and 8th. From the wharf, negotiate the miriad of hawkers,(always great fun) then it's straight up the main road. The Tropicana is located about 150mtrs on the right, opposite the laundromat.Check in was fast and easy.We stayed in the family room no17. It did have quite a musty smell at first, but faided as time went on (maybe not used much as I think the 20 to 40 yr demographic is aimed at for Puerto Galera.)The room is a good size, bathroom very good, towels a little frayed, nice beds with very firm mattresses but comfortable.Room was clean and paint fresh.Room had a shared balconey (good view) with a clothes rack. The pool area was cleaned every morning, the sun lounges could do with a little TLC. Breakfast selection was good, and the iced tea was the best we encounted. To sit at the street side bar was just great, watching the everyday life pass by.The Tropicana is an eclectic place to stay.Would I stay here again?. Most definitely.

Our first time here at tropicana we had a good service last year 2010, we went back 2014 for our honeymoon because my husband and i love the doom, when we get in at the receptions they are asking for a payment even we never seen the room yet, receptionist not polite at all, and she said they are only accepting visa card hahaha, so we said ok we will pay later as soon as we pull out cash from atm, so we arrived to the room, so dirty, fridge not on aircon not on, lights not on, theres used soap at the soap dish no towels and we called the reception and they said its not ready because we are just walked in! so funny because we reserved a week before. walked in or reserved they shud clean the room.. and everytime that your calling the reception they are lacked of customer service, no thank you, no "is there anything i can assist you with?"
and heres the other word we heard from them, we ordered banana split, and the receptionist said " can you wait for a while because we have a lot of guest. hahahha my husband said im a guest also. omg tropicana management please train your employees and dont hire employees that doesnt have customer service skills.. We will never come back again, and to think there elevator is only UP, u have to walk 106 stairs to go down from the dome. all i can say this place is dusty, dirty, rust is all over...

My girlfriend and I went to the Tropicana restaurant for their much-advertised "Special Christmas Dinner.". I don't like beef, so I ordered something else, but they ended up trying to charge us 800php for that Christmas dinner, which consisted of 1 small salad, 1 piece of cake, 1 glass of wine, and 1 beef medallion entree with mashed potatoes. The entree came out too salty to eat, and this after a 45 minute wait. We sent it back, and after another half hour all we got was the cake. When we asked for the bill to leave, they tried to charge us the full 800php for an inedible meal. Worse still, my girlfriend doesnt like salad and had given it to me, and shared the piece of cake with me too! So all told, 800php and all she got was half a piece of cake...and to cap it off, after arguing about this for more than half an hour, they offered to reduce it...by 250php. An additional 15 min had us reduced 150php more to where we were paying *only* 400 php for that half piece of cake (and the delightful experience). Paid it and left forever, and went to go get nachos at Big Apple, lesson learned.

I have stayed at Tropicana a few times starting in 2007, my most recent and last stay being Aug 2016. The most intriguing aspect is the architecture, which looks like a castle. The antique-looking wood furniture and marble tiles and all-marble bathroom are beautiful as well. However, the experience was terrible. I attempted to book on Tropicana's website, which hasn't been updated since 2014, but I never got a reply. Upon arrival, the room wasn't ready, and when we were told it was ready, the maids were still cleaning it, but it wasn't clean. The floor was dirty, the bed sheet smelled like mildew, the bathtub's faucet was removed (it was unusable), the refrigerator didn't work, but worst of all, there was a used condom wrapper on the floor. The maids didn't offer any solution to the refrigerator and the lady working the front desk was unfriendly. My kids were swimming in the pool for 20 minutes with numerous staff walking past them, until I saw the sign "pool closed for maintenance," without advising when it would reopen. The front desk didn't advise us of this either. We had originally planned to stay 8 nights, but stayed only 1 night and gladly found a cleaner, more friendly hotel across the street in The Mermaid. The sad thing is, Tropicana used to be a good place to stay. The castle, architecture and marble everywhere gives it great potential, but without proper management or professional staff, it's doomed.

Massive mediaeval looking room with olde world furniture and four-poster beds but fixtures and fittings questionable....huge explosion as maintenance chap fiddled with chandelier - sparks all over. The next chap on the scene electrocuted himself. We found the beautiful jacuzzi wasn't functional - no taps. As for the door lock....well we couldn't open or lock it. The place is old and sick of the palsy, but looks fabulous and imposing. Did anybody suggest they could assist with the issues rather than simply a refund for our 2nd night - NO. Of course not....this is the Philippines. Not their business to worry.

The place is really amazing, its like the castles featured in Fairy tale movies, and vacation sites in Europe but their accommodation is very affordable. They also have restaurant in the ground floor.. The place is in the main road in Sabang, Puerto Galera. Its a perfect spot for picture taking and sightseeing. For people who loves the food tripping, the hotel is just walking distance to almost a hundred of restaurants in the area.

We dined here this evening. Ordered Karekare, sisig and spag bol. The whole spag Bol dish was eaten but the karekare did not have any peanut flavour to it and was full offal and gristly beef. Not how it should be. The sisig was swimming in oil and taken back immediately. What concerned us is that the manager argued with us, saying the karekare was how it should be and that he was filipino blah blah.... My wife who is also filipino said that's not how the dish is done. And I agree. After a little uncomfortable stand off he took the meal off the bill along with the sisig. Seems they don't like being critiqued.

The Tropicana Castle resort truly is a unique fantasy world over 5 levels. The best place in town and probably the most characterful place in all the Philippines.

The rooms are very large and with the furnishings truly resemble something from a castle with the 4 poster beds and period furniture. The marble bathrooms were equally spacious with separate baths and shower.

Although not on the beach its location in town is still close to all the action and has an in house dive operator and gym for your disposal.

Pool and gardens were very peaceful and a nice place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of Sebang.

The hotel also has a guillotine and gallows for any nagging wives, why more hotels dont have these facilities I dont comprehend?

We dined in the restaurant a few times and the food is fairly average, breakfast was included but if I had to pay would eat elsewhere.

This really is a truly unique one of a kind hotel but unfortunately its let down by little things, such as the odd bit of rubbish left in common areas for 24-48 hours and neglect of some maintenance issues. Considering labour costs next to nothing in the Philippines this lack of attention is inexcusable otherwise I would have rated this place top marks just on character alone.

There is also another unused bar area above the restaurant that is unused which is really a shame that such a unique place is not used to its full potential.

Staff were very helpful and attentive attending to any issues and also called upon there dive operator who was at my sole disposal and costs much less than many of the beach operators.

Its a shame Paul went to Manilla otherwise I could have supplied him some feedback which I hope he would take on board. Tropicana is a very good place and its only some attention to detail would make it a truly great place.

Still worth a visit and highly recommended.

The water from the tag faucet is not clean, even you can find LIVE WORMS in the water. I find 5 worms in 2 cups of water. I asked the manager to check, he admitted there is worm in tap water, the will clean the tank and pipleline tomorrow, but no compensate for me. Tomorrow morning, still can find worms from the water. I have no water for full night. As I paid online, the hotel cannot pay back and cancel my booking. I am so angry for the reply, but I cannot do anything. And other clients also found worms in their rooms. I am lucky as I only stay here for one night, and you are lucky that you wouldn't stay here for one night if you see my comment.
