Was in Miniloc Island Resort last month and am in Maldives now. El Nido is, hands down, a prettier place in terms of natural features (rocks, caves, jungles, hills, clear and calm waters). I love snorkeling and El Nido is THE place for that. The villas are rather small, with very little area to walk on. Staff were all nice and friendly. I’m glad they wore PPEs properly too. There are two things I noted that need improvement. First is the food. It’s one thing to not be able to sit in the restaurants (it’s a safety precaution, I understand) but having to eat cold delivered food in your room is another story. If the new normal would mean room service food only, the resort has to make sure they deliver fresh, hot meals. They can do that by having food delivered in insulated boxes, not in baskets. Second is waste management and hygiene. Guests need trash bins, pandemic or no pandemic. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any trash bin in the resort. Also, not all common bathrooms had toilet paper and/or hand soap. Overall, the resort is a great one. It’s not better than Pangulasian Island but it’s a great place for a couple getaway (I think it’s too small for families). …
We travelled as a couple earlier this year for 4 nights, we had high expectations looking at previous reviews. The pick up from the airport was very smooth and faultless, along with boat transfer to the resort. We initially had a good welcome, but felt it went downhill after that. We had a introduction by a member of staff who said if we needed anything then she would be our 'go to' person - we didn't see her again for the next 3 days. We have travelled extensively and prefer a more personal feel - whereby staff go out of their way to talk to you and acknowledge you - so many times on our visit we walked past members of staff who could not manage a smile or a hello. We actually found one or two members of staff very rude. On one occasion, my husband asked a member of staff a question. The staff member looked at him and then carried on looking at his phone, without even acknowledging him. One of the guest coordinators was stood next to him and was observing the whole situation and also ignored him. The activities offered are extensive, however there was no consistency with how to book or who to book with, we often found we were trying to track down a coordinator to book. We went out on one of the snorkeling trips and I grazed my knees on some sharp coral. When I got onto the boat, I noticed my knees were bleeding quite a lot, the member of staff on the boat just looked at me and made no comment - did not even ask if I was ok. I had go to reception and ask for medical help from the doctor who was very helpful. All round we found the service very disappointing and a let down for what could have been an amazing stay, as the cliff views are truly spectacular. Would not recommend this place if you have high expectations of customer service.…
Miniloc Island is one of the top island resorts in El Nido owing it's water cottage rooms. What I like the most in this resort is the warmth welcome and very accommodating and friendly staff. Upon arrival, there was a welcome song and they're wearing Filipinos tradional clothes. Also welcome drinks are provided. Every night there was a show presenting Filipino dances and songs. The food is just good and the water cottage villa is okay and simple. It's a bit expensive resort because it comes all in one package.
I was here almost 4 years ago and it was an amazing experience. They just newly renovated this place. Though it now looks modern, the old vibe never changed. I come here not because this is the most luxurious resort in the world but find luxury in the gift of friendship from all the staff. Top to Bottom. I have been around the world with my wife but never have encountered people with so much HEART. In the other properties we stayed at, you are already lucky to see the shadow of the GM. Miniloc’s GM never failed to check back on us. If it was down time or pre dinner time, Big Mac will sit with us at the beach bar and exchange a lot of wonderful ideas about business, life and a whole lot of things under the sun. Mike, their Bar Supervisor turns in to a concert king when he is rocking his guitar. Roy, their Food and Beverage Supervisor and Chef Boyet whose food never fails to fill our hearts with content. Weng, who guides us and keeps us safe when we are doing our tours. Angel and Jade who always keeps our itinerary on track. Thidy, their Asst Manager, who doubles as my pool table competitor when he’s not busy. I could not remember all their names but will always remember the feeling that I left for the little piece of paradise called Miniloc. There is nothing like it. You will never come across with people like these who show extreme passion for what they do. They are the Miniloc All Stars! Hope they are all in the best of health during these trying times. …
