Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful heritage rooms, high ceilings and so clean. The bed was soft and comfy, and the bathroom products lovely. The staff were super friendly and professional and no request was too difficult. The breakfast was tasty and lots of variety although starts at 7.00 am which is a bit late for people with early checkout. No in room breakfast options available. The location near Chinatown was perfect for us to take in Chinese New Year Celebrations. Also, opposite the hotel is a huge covered food market with delicious options all day. At night the road is closed to set up a satay market in the street. The place was buzzing. Lots of varied choices for restaurants close by and the MRT is also close within 10 min stroll of the hotel. If you want a change, and want to be close to the beating heart of Singapore (Chinatown) then this hotel is for you. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel in classic building Right opposite Lau Pa Sat - the smoke rises from the street. We had upgraded room - love the quirky decor and the ceiling light box. Didn’t like the fact the window was so high, I couldn’t see out if it. Also the separate wc was very small and a large person would have issues closing the door! The steps into the pool are very steep and there is no handrail

We had a 2 night stay in a Cosy room which I believe is the most basic offering and it was fine for a couple of days. The shower was excellent and there’s a fancy home-automation setup for controlling lights and curtains. Storage space was a bit of an issue so this would not be a great option for someone needing to unpack a lot of stuff or staying for several days. Inevitably there is minimal space to store suitcases which ended up piled in a corner. We found the staff helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good with a fair selection of local and European style options. The rooftop swimming pool is nice at the end of a day’s sightseeing. The big turn-off, for us, is that the rooms are damp; I mean damp; they smell damp and musty and everything in them feels damp. Clothes in the closet and drawers ended up feeling damp. I have never experienced this in a hotel (with aircon) before and can only assume there is an issue with the air conditioning system..We were shown 3 alternative rooms on different floors and all were the same so the issue was not localised. I have since seen other reviews making this comment. Sadly, for this reason we would not stay again and I could not recommend it.

My wife and I just left this afternoon after a five night stay at The Hotel Telegraph where we had a lovely break. The chefs there outdid themselves with Moorish dishes and what was even more special was the fact that they remembered exactly what we liked. They, along with all the staff at breakfast and cocktail hour were just outstanding and made you feel really special. Ismail the Assistant Chief Concierge and his team helped us and couldn't do enough for us. Ismail is truly an asset there and It is because of his amazing ethics and care factor that I'm sure we will be seeing him again. It is refreshing to see that some still have that old school manners and care factor!

Fantastic, lovely renovated building, excellent location and very kind and helpful staff. My room was cleaned well and quickly in a timely fashion. I had a couple of things I needed help with and the front desk staff went the extra mile with a smile and no fuss. Why only 4 stars? Management take note. You could make the front desk staff more comfortable by letting them sit in chairs or at least having some high stools to sit on at times. It seems like they have to stand at the desk all day an that can not be a good idea if you want to retain the excellent people you have. Make them comfortable and happy and they will make the customers and you happy. Also not that I am not writing this because any of them brought this up to me or complained. This is simply based on my silent observations.

We had a great experience with the Hotel Telegraph. The staff members were pleasant and incredibly helpful, from the Front Desk, Concierge to the Dining Room. Excellent breakfast and we also enjoyed the happy hour drinks and canapés. We were in a Cozy room. It was a small room but it had great amenities and an excellent rain shower. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I would definitely stay again.

We were warmly welcomed at the reception. Centrally located in the financial hub. Walking distance to many attractions such as Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by The Bay, Art and Science Museum, Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Merlion Park, to name a few. Highly recommended.

Oh gosh… this hotel looks nice in the photos but it’s all a bit of smoke and mirrors. To start off with the positives, the bed was very comfortable and our sleep was really good which is a major factor when determining a good hotel. The location of this hotel is also amazing, close to multiple MRT lines and only ever a few stops away from where you need to be. Unfortunately that’s where the positives stop. The breakfast is horrible and I mean truly awful. The rooms are constantly damp, I know this is a problem in Singapore but other hotels don’t feel as “wet” as this one did. We stayed here when it used to be the So Sofitel and with the change of ownership it has truly gone down hill.

Fabulous boutique hotel. Exceptional service from check in until check out. We spent 4 nights here over Christmas. Our room was as expected and the attention to ensuring our stay was as enjoyable as possible was excellent. Location is also a winner - close to train station, the marvellous Lau Pa Sat market and many other food outlets. We will return. Thank you to the staff who made our stay so memorable!
