My favourite hotel in Singapore. It embodies what Singapore is to me. Came here quarter of a century ago when it was just done up after a major renovation. Revisiting just before its next major renovation. Feel so pampered by its most professional staff.

There are great attractions within easy walking distance from the hotel that are worth seeing. The War Memorial Park, St Andrews Cathedral, WW2 Memorial, National Gallery, City Hall and the Singapore Cricket Club to name just a few. Burn off a few calories and enjoy the walk.

We were invited to dine at the Raffles restaurant with the Indian buffet. The food was delicious and the cool colonial dinning room was a delight - to have the opportunity to spend a couple of hours there is well worth it. The service was impeccable and unobstrusive. By 9 pm we ventured to the Long Bar, famous for its...

Former colonial glory resides at Raffles, the iconic Long Bar is a mandatory stop for a Singapore Sling and you can taste one of these for only S$36 a glass! BE AWARE THE MOST ( or most as far as I can tell - including the long bar) will be closed whilst Raffle is renovated for the next years or...

Of course, when in Singapore one has to try a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar in the Raffles hotel. Such a lovely and historical place. Quite a tourist attraction, but luckily we were there at the right time and got a table. It is quite expensive, but just being there is worth it.

The service anticipated our every need, and provided prompt and excellent support when my traveling partner needed medical care. They let us use the facilities of the hotel after we checked out and made us feel very comfortable and at home. Great breakfasts.

The property is great for what it is - the quintessential colonial hotel that kept its shine. But the combination of the premises and the impeccable service with the spontaneous offer of a 23:00 checkout to match flight time made it a perfect experience.
