Throughout my 50-year career I have frequently stayed in 5-star hotels around the world, but none have made me feel as welcome and at home as my stay at The Pale Maiden. None have been as clean and as comfortable either. The room was well appointed, and felt very fresh and modern. If you needed something extra Teresa went out of her way to provide it, especially before setting off from Punta Arenas to sail a tall ship to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia and eventually Cape Town. At sea I missed her breakfasts that were excellent and really set you up for the day, and catered for others with dietary needs staying at the same time. In particular I enjoyed the local delicacy Diddle Dee (red crowberry) jam made from the red berry of the same name. Very tasty. My thanks must also go to Tony, Teresa's husband who is a knowledgeable guide around the islands. Tony went above and beyond to help us get the most out of our visit, including first meeting us in London whilst visiting family. I'm indebted to them both for answering the many questions I had about the flora and fauna found on the islands and in the surrounding seas. In the trying times of the current world pandemic I truly hope this business survives and gives pleasure to many in the future. It is a hub for photographers, nature lovers and tourists alike, making for interesting evening discussions whilst looking at the panoramic view from the lounge windows.…
I stayed at The Pale Maiden for two weeks. It was exquisitely clean, tastefully decorated, full of sunshine with a glorious view of the harbor, and perfectly located on a quiet street in the center of town. The breakfast each morning was worthy of a luxury hotel. But the best part was the owner, Teresa. She is a warm, generous, and unbelievably helpful host. She helped me figure out a local phone, called to book taxis and planes, and introduced me to people who helped me in my work. I cannot recommend this B&B highly enough. It makes the difference between being a tourist and feeling that you have really gotten to know a place.
We stayed at the Pale Maiden for 6 nights during our 2 week sojourn in the Falklands. Teresa provides 6 star attention, accommodation, breakfast, assistance and information. Tony is the go to guy for tours out of Stanley (he took us to Volunteer Point and the ATM which is new in Stanley). Great views to the harbour from our room. We have travelled to many parts of the world, and the Pale Maiden is as good as the best. Many thanks for making our stay so enjoyable, particularly during the uncertainty of Covid 19.
