Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed here in 1997, not 2023, but there was no option for that. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The living room looks the same, with the piano in the same spot. Great memories, My girlfriend went out painting with Snr Uribe near some water, and I still have some of the paintings they did.

It's taken me a while to write this review but I wanted to say thanks to Perla for all her help. We had a double room that was very cosy and comfy. This is a real guesthouse and the walls and surfaces are all decorated with trinkets and photos - very quaint but might not appeal to someone who likes sterile modern hotels and the like. In our case however we loved staying there - a welcome respite from the dirty hustle of an industrial city like Puerto Montt. The area looks relatively rough on first inspection but from our experience, that's just Puerto Montt and actually by the time we left we were pretty happy wandering even after dark. We had some good grub and a few beers (draught!) in the pub/bar down the road which Perla recommended. Perla also helped us organise a rental car for less than any of the quotes I had managed to get myself and then allowed us to cancel/move a booking on our return without any penalty. She also happily phoned the rental company to extend our rental.

All in all Perla was very helpful to us and her house is a bastion of cosiness in an otherwise fairly inhospitable city.

Well...I have a different experience staying in Casa Perla though.

We read about the recommendations on Lonely Planet, and so stayed in Casa Perla for 2 nites.

Well, yes, the lady's daughter was very helpful. She gave us a map and told us in details how to get around with the 'collectivo'. But, when we met the lady later in the evening, it's very different. We exchanged greetings, and expected the lady to ask us about our day, how we felt about the city, etc etc...just some small talks anyway. Instead, right after the greetings, the second topic is on money. The lady started to 'remind' us of the rate and asked us to pay for the nite first. So, no more sharing about our first day in Puerto Montt, we went back to our room to get money for payment...The same for our second day in Casa Perla...

A bit disappointed indeed. We don't think anybody care about our stay, but more about whether we pay.

We found this hostel a bit too homey and a tad gross.

The house seems like it will cave in at any moment, with creaky floors, crooked ceilings, and dusty musty smells. The beds were caved in in the middle with the oldest worn sheets ever. The bathroom is tiny and full of old bottles of products that look like they have been there for years.

Perla and her family were nice enough and answered questions, though seemed like they were in the biz just for the buck.

My wife and I arrived at this hostel in the middle of last Ferbuary at around 11pm. The owner, Perla, was extremely friendly and so was the rest of the family. It's a very comfortable place and veyr "typical" looking. Although they don't seem to use water heaters in Chile, they had something called "Calefon" that heats the water as is passes through it and it delivers it nice and warm. We did not experience any cold at night but Perla had gas heaters in every room and we could use any if we needed it. We had a great time and we enjoy every moment in the house. We were lucky because Perla's son was visiting for a couple of weeks; he lives in the USA for some years now and we had a great time going out with him and his wife for a beer or two. Ricardo entertained us playing the Highland Bagpipes which he learned to play extremely well in the USA. Our time there was simply awesome and we really recommend this place to everybody. If you are lucky enough to be there while Perla's kids are also staying (Ricardo and his sister Susana), you will surely have a great time!!!

I liked this place. Perla is a retired lady who offers her extra rooms in her beautiful old wooden house. Quite cozy, but of course very family-like, and the contrary of a party hostel.
Perla is helpful and speaks english quite well. We even got a (free) upgrade of our room! The location is okay, it is quiet, comfortable beds, breakfast okay, shower was difficult to get hot water.
In conclusion, it is a good hostel for a super price.

This Hostel is rated as the cheapest in Puerto Montt and worth going, though it took me a time to find it and the location is pretty much uphill and not too close to the center. The whole building is a little antique but very cosy and reminds me of my grandmas house. They have a big garden with many cats and a pretty good breakfast. Señora Perla is a lovely woman. Recommended!

Casa Perla is a cute little house and you are actually staying with Perla and her family. The father and son do not speak a lit of English but Perla speaks perfect English.

The things that we loved about staying here was Perla herself who is lovely. The fact that although breakfast was supposed to be finished, her and her maid still made us some breakfast and made sure we ate before we left. She is extremely welcoming and makes you feel very at home. The double room we stayed in was large and the bed very comfortable.

The shared bathroom is small but well equipped with a hairdryer and very clean.

It is however a little way out of town but easy enough to walk into the town which isn't very big and there are plenty of taxis.

This place was wonderful. We booked at last minute and did not expect much from the pictures available. We had a pleasant surprise when greeted by Perla, a lovely Chilena lady with exceptional English. Her family home is warm, clean and inviting after a long bus trip. The directions she gave us were great. A standard breakfast was provided. Wifi good. A couple of bathrooms which although small had good water flow and temperature. The dorm room had beds which was a lovely change from bunks. Perla also had great recommendations on eating venues so listen to her advice. There is no pool or fitness centre sorry. I accidentally selected the options.

Arrived into Puerto Montt after dark (from Argentina) - map was NOT clear at all and we literally were wondering around (up hills) in a relatively ´dodgy´ place. To be fair, locals were extremely helpful and we did find our way in the end!

Very cute homestead, lovely big twin room. Walls are a little thin - you can hear a pin drop at night giving an intimate experience to say the least.
Our host was lovely, though unwell at the time Perla still made an effort to come say hi.
All in all a pleasant stay.
