So this is probably the best hotel option in the city as far as I am aware but I feel that a little bit more investment could go a long way to improve the facilities. Its a great location in the part of the city that is famous for its street art and so walking around is easy to do although it is very much up and down hill :-) The hotel is a conversion of an old mansion so its a bit quirky with lifts and stairs to get around. Various room sizes available and we went for the one above the basic room which was small but did have a small balcony but it was still quite cold to sit out on said balcony and tbh it could have done with a good jet wash to clean it along with washing the covers on the chairs so you could sit down on clean seats. We did get moved to a larger room when we told out agent that across the road from the hotel 2 buildings were being refurbished so there was a bit of noise when in an open space. The hotel has a nice pool area although the Pacific breeze did make the pool a bit chilly for my liking, however the most disapointing thing is the view as you are looking directly at a very busy working port with lots of cranes and container ships docking 24/7. Its a real shame but there is nothing that you can do about it so be aware. Also be aware that the restaurant is not actually part of the hotel as its a separate company and we had a meal the first night but werent impressed and there are better options outside the hotel. But the highlight of this hotel was the staff who were so friendly and helpful and really made the stay more enjoyable and as we were stopping for 4 nights (which in hindsight was unusual) they did make a fuss of us. We just feel that it just needs those finishing touches and it would be a 5 star rating.

This hotel was well appointed and comfortable. However, we were there only on a Sunday evening, and there were no other restaurants open. We ate at the hotel, and it was good but a bit pricey. Because we got there late in the day and no one was in the streets at all, we did not feel comfortable walking around. Plus it was very hilly. Our room looked out toward a very shabby area, with houses falling apart, There were better buildings around this area, but it did not encourage us to wander. Looking toward the ocean was the port, so it was filled with equipment and ships. Breakfast the next morning was very nice. If I go back to Valparaiso, I would look for something down nearer to the water, not up on the hill.

This is a beautiful hotel set high in the “gentrified” part of the city (as our guide told us!). We loved the location as easy to walk to everything and right in the middle of the amazing street art and trendy quarter with great restaurants etc. Staff were really helpful and big thanks to the breakfast waiters Carlos and Henrique who dashed around providing us with a lovely start to the day. The only slight annoyance was breakfast didn’t start until 8.30 which we found quite late (but appreciate this is a standard gripe in Chile as only two hotels in our trip had breakfast pre 8). They were happy though to let us in early and give us juice etc. The food was of a very high standard and beautifully presented. A menu of cold items is give and you can order hot food.

Our room with a balcony was a perfect end to our trip and well appointed. There are many common areas too to enjoy the views over the city.

One other thing to note was as well as signing for service at breakfast (which was already paid in our room rate) we had a 10% general staff tip on the bill too (circa $30) which we were happy to pay but just one to be aware of if on a pre paid tour.

Also a big thanks to Daniela on arrival and the staff on departure who sorted out our airport pick up which had not arrived on time.

Casa Higueras was our first stop in Chile. We were greeted by a warm and friendly staff member who made sure our room #3 was to our liking and that we knew how everything worked. Our room was spacious and had a beautiful corner terrace overlooking the port in the distance. The front desk manager was super helpful with restaurant recommendations. The morning breakfast buffet was perfect. Perfect location to explore the neighborhoods.

We know lots of people love Valparaiso but sadly we didn’t get It. For us, a few nice murals don’t cut it amongst the multitude of artless graffiti and millions of other pieces of spray-can vandalism. Yes, lots of the steps are painted but what they don’t tell you is that they all smell strongly of toilets. The city would be a lot nicer if the ‘artists’ donated their spare time to cleaning the streets. Cerro Alegre, where the hotel is situated, is a veritable oasis of nice cafes, bars, restaurants and speciality food shops. The hotel Is very stylish. It is handy for everything but is in a lovely, quiet location with great views over the port and city. We were very happy with our room and the service (for the most part) was very friendly. Breakfast was a bit of a car crash but their are so many places around to eat. Overall we were very happy with the hotel and delighted we were based in Cerro Alegre.

We were planning trip to Chile with Abercrombie & Kent mainly to visit Easter Island and they recommended a visit to Valparaiso as a way to see another part of Chile that was on the coast and an easy drive from Santiago. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Casa Higueras. There did not appear to be many five star hotels in Valparaiso but this hotel was a wonderful property with nicely equipped rooms, excellent service and fine dining. Valparaiso is a major seaport, and the city sits on hills rising up from the harbor. This hotel was an old mansion built on five levels on the side of a hill and only has 20 guest rooms. We had a premium room which was on a higher floor with a private balcony overlooking the harbor. It had an interesting view of the city and harbor.

We were there only one night but enjoyed lunch, dinner and breakfast in their restaurant. They had interesting menus, and the food was very good and well prepared and presented. The people were delightful, and the staff made you feel welcomed and well cared for. We highly recommend Hotel Casa Higueras as the place to stay if you plan to visit Valparaiso.

A superb small hotel jutting out into the Chilean sky above Valparaiso's bustling port. Quiet, relaxing, with impressive amenities. We enjoyed a lovely dinner on the terrace overlooking the city on our last night, enjoying excellent cuisine and impressive wines. Hoping to revisit the city and hotel in the future.

From the moment we arrived at Casa Higueras we were made feel welcome. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful…..something we discovered is consistent with all Chileans we met. The boutique hotel is ideal located in the middle of the charming town with easy access to all the sites and attractions. The rooms are spacious, well appointed with views across the port and towards Viña del Mar and beyond. The facilities are excellent with a fabulous restaurant serving exquisite food for dinner and breakfast. The outdoor infinity pool and health spa are not to be missed at the end of a long day. We’d highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Great location! The neighbourhood is extremely walkable with many cafes, restaurants & shops nearby. Funiculars a quick stroll away as well. The Room was clean & spacious. We had an interesting view of the entire Bay which included the Beaches & Port. The Breakfast selection was nice and we enjoyed eating in the terrace each morning. There was a rooftop balcony as well with a great view. Helpful & friendly staff too.

I gather you are arriving in Valparaiso by ship, hope you have included some sightseeing time in this wonderful city. We had a private transfer directly from Santiago to Casa Higueras to catch a cruise so they would definitely have transfers returning, contact them directly or your travel agent. The drive is very pleasant and worth a stop if you are not in a hurry.
