Hostel close to the nice cerros Conception and Alegre, so perfect position to discover the beautiful streets and murales of Valparaiso. The region is also quite safe at night and the actual protests are usually far away from here. Breakfast is good, there is bread with butter and a choice of jams, cereals, fruits, coffee and tea. For a small extra you can buy smoothie and cakes.

The location can't be beat. It's in the Cerro Allegre area that is both beautiful, hip and full of restaurants and watering hole. It is a bit of a hike up, but not too bad. I suggest taking a taxi the first time you arrive (around CHP5000 from the bus station).

The room was clean and the bed was firm. The bathroom and shower stall was kind of small, but manageable. All were clean and well maintained. Wifi was free, strong and dependable.

The reception staff was friendly and accommodating. But they are not too helpful when you ask them about attractions, tours, etc.

Breakfast is served on the 2nd floor every morning. There is a staff (or two) who will take your order. The breakfast was pretty basic, but prepared with care and it is free. It usually consists of fruit platter, yoghurt, cereal, a glass of juice, scrambled egg and bread basket (they make good ham and cheese sandwich!).

After a day of sightseeing, you can enjoy a beer or two at the outdoor lounge upstairs. Beers can be taken on honor basis, just write your name on the paper. Coffee and tea are free all day long.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights while in Valparaiso, and it was a superb location for our needs. We were within walking distance of most major sites as well as tons of bars and restaurants. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They quickly addressed any questions we had, and always seemed eager to help. The hotel has lots of character, which we loved, and our room was always clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again if ever in Valparaiso.

Worst experience in hostel

I would not recommend this hostel if you need to sleep to catch an early bus/flight or you have light sleep.

When we’ve arrived staff asked us for common sense about noise after 11pm to respect others, but then, they kept the music loud in the reception room - which was just next our bedroom - until 1am; after that people stayed until 3.30am gathering and talking very laud.
Very disrespectful.
We couldn’t sleep at all.

The room is basic and not very clean, bathroom stink and you can hear every noise from the other bathroom and bedrooms, also mattresses are not so comfortable.

Only positive note is the position, but position itself doesn’t worth the money.

This is a cool old building in a very hip part of town near restaurants and shops. The location is the best part about it. Very basic, plumbing not really working well, shoddy rooms. But clean. Luckily, it wasn’t crowded so it was quiet, as you’d hear everything from street and other rooms if it was more occupied. Breakfast was supposed to be exceptional according to promotion, but it was the bare minimum and not good at all with no variety or effort. Very disappointing (especially given the expectation). Nice staff - bit out of it sometimes. Not sure what other places are like in this city, so not sure if you can get better? It’s an ok place to stay if you’re out and about doing other things and not staying too long.

If you don’t want to sleep at night, this ist your place. Partying guest screaming all night long, playing loud musik, and walking trough the floor like elephants. Almost every day until 3am! This is not a place to stay if you wish to have a quiet place to stay.
And the bathrooms are really dirty (including mold at the walls).

I loved Valparaiso. The city is absolutely charming and beautiful. It needs a bit more TLC, but don't miss it if you're going to be in Santiago. (the Tours for Tips is great- one of the best city tours I've ever been on).

I did a two-night's stay a the Da Vinci Hotel and was so glad to leave. The hotel sounds charming on the website, but it is far from it.

Location: The hotel is behind two (?) front doors on a very steep street. The street is dark and tagged by gang signs and not by any of the charming art that Valpariaso is known for. The neighborhood, if you can call an empty, boarded-up street a neighborhood, is nothing. There is nothing nearby. Two blocks down the road are a bunch of old banks and notaries. No restaurants, no stores, nothing a traveler wants. There are lots of great areas of Valpo, this isn't one.

Public areas: If you love walking up stairs everywhere, this is your hotel! And there is no elevator. Enjoy lugging your suitcase up the stairs! The lobby is uninviting- just a couple of chairs and books about Venice. Very little information on Valparaiso here- go to the tourist office on the main square.

Rooms: My room was one of the smallest hotel rooms I've every stayed in. That includes New York, Hong Kong, Italy, England and every place in between. Beside your bed, there is one folding chair, a 2x3 wardrobe, and three small built-in shelves. There is literally no place for your suitcase, except a small area of the floor. And there is no window, except a window into a glass-enclosed cooridore. You will get no fresh air here! The world's smallest and noisiest hotel room costs C$ 32,000 a night.

Noisy. The floors and stairs are all wood and you will hear everyone walking up and down the stairs as well as everyone in the breakfast room on top of your room. This loud and incessant noise starts at 7:30 AM. Wear your ear plugs. Also, they like to play loud rock music in the evening- that starts about 8:30 PM- so don't plan on relaxing.

Bathroom: Imagine the smallest shower stall you can imagine- now take half that away. There is no shelf and you cannot pick up you shampoo on the floor of it without opening the door, stepping outside, picking it up, then getting back in the shower stall. Try to ignore the mold growing on the tiles. Also, the shower faucet fell off and I had to pound it back on to make it stream water again.

Interent: Sketchy- goes on and off and the two girls gossiping with each other at the front desk could care less.

Hospitality: No one offered to help or acknowledged my existence. The clerks hid behind the front desk which itotally obscures seeing them. They only time they spoke to me was to take my money, how me where my room was located, and try to sell me a taxi. Upon leaving, I asked about taking the bus for US$.50 to the main bus station. The front desk girl told me that she would call me a cab that would cost US$10. Good thing the manager showed up just then. He was helpful: Offered to walk me the two blocks down the road to the bus stop, told the bus driver where I was going and I saved US$ 9.50!

Breakfast: Good! Lots of good food in the nice top floor breakfast room. This was one of the few things the hotel did well.

For the price, you might as well pay 25% of the rate and stay at a local hostel. You'll have warmer hospitality, more room and less noise.

The city of Valparaiso, named World Heritage by UNESCO, is mainly characterized by its 42 hills and abundant stairs to access them, the hotel is located in one of the most important hills, Cerro Alegre, and want you to know our hotel is located approximately 50 meters from the banks and exchange houses, which we believe is of real importance to the people we visit, on the other hand, also in front of us there is a staircase that leads to Cerro Concepción , where you can find the best restaurants of national and international food in the city, and next to us is another staircase that leads to Cerro Alegre, where you can also find great places to eat, or just climb Urriola street, street where we are located, which divides the two hills and surprised by the large number of restaurants, art galleries, architecture typical large city and attractive importants demonstrating the unique history of Valparaiso. One of the most important points that have our location, is that we are involved in the area as a heritage of humanity, is usually guarded and guarded by police in the area, there are no gangs, there may be some scratches buildings, but that goes beyond our reach, is only due to lack of tourism and environmental awareness of some people. regret not having met your expectations Travel, and not complying with their requirements while you stayed with us.

This small, but extremely friendly guest house, is just a stroll from the Plaza Mayor and is in a perfect location for exploring Valparaiso. However, if you have any mobility issues, this is most definitely not the place for you to stay. Not only is the house located on a very steep hill, but there are stairs inside the property that could prove impossible shoul you have any issues.

All the rooms have private bathrooms, but only on the ground floor are the bathrooms en suite. The upper floor rooms require a walk across the landing to a separate, albeit private bathroom. You may want to contact the hotel ahead of making a booking - especially if you're using a third party website where bookings are non refundable - to find out exactly which type of room is available or you'll be getting if you have any problem with this set up.

The rooms are basic, but comfortable and clean with clean linens. There is a desk and a chair, but there's not much room to move around. There's a lock box in the room, but not much else in the way of amenities. The small shower/toilet room comes with clean towels (changed daily) and shampoo/conditioner. As they'll tell you on check in, the hot water takes a while to flow and then it is in fact very hot and hard to get the right temp. It's a very fine balancing act to get it just right. The water pressure is very good.

The hotel offers tea, instant coffee and water 24/7 in the upstairs lounge/cafe - not in the rooms - and there's also bottled water, wine and beer to purchase. The breakfast is excellent and served individually rather than buffet style. Each day consists of watered juice, coffee/tea, toasted cheese sandwiches, cooked eggs to order, toasted rolls, cut fruits and yogurt. The restaurant staff like everyone else in the property are super friendly.

The lobby has a nice fire place, which is very appreciated in winter, although each room also has a very effective heater of it's own. There's free wifi all over the property, which is excellent. The staff are super nice and friendly and will offer all sorts of ideas and suggestions for things to do and there are maps and guides available. Outside the property you can find the start of staircases to the upper parts of the city or head down to the port and explore the lower areas. It's all very accessible.

The only slight negative is the hotel is on a one way street, so taxis have to do quite a big detour to get to the property and that all adds to the metre surprisingly quickly. It costs double to get from the bus terminal what it does to return there, just because of the one way system. A bit annoying.

Excellent laundry is available and they charge a flat CS5000 for the load, regardless of weight or items. A real bargain. There's a minor issue with ants and bugs - not bed bugs - which was slightly bothersome, but not a huge problem. All in all, a very reasonably priced stay in a super friendly atmosphere.

Hotel Da Vinci is the perfect place to stay for a visit to Valparaiso. It is an old heritage house located on a hill in the scenic older part of the city. It has an old world charm, decorated in a lot of antiques and artwork. The staff is very friendly and helpful in planning your visit and giving recommendations. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The breakfast is delicious with fresh baked buns, pastries, and eggs. The location is ideal, close to the old downtown, the murals and street art,, and restaurants. Also close to the waterfront and main square, where you can take walking tours of the city. I would highly recommend the Hotel Da Vinci when in Valparaiso.

I traveled to Valparaiso with my wife and two young daughters. The hotel and location were excellent. The owner and staff were knowledgeable, calm in a crisis, very kind and helpful. The rooms are clean, well furnished and have lots of character. i would stay here again. We arrived at 8 pm and parked under the light in front of the main door. The front door was locked, we rang the bell and stepped inside. We were asked for our passports right away, turned around and stepped outside again. In those 20 seconds, our car window was smashed and luggage gone. Be careful, keep valuables with you and be aware.of your surroundings. After the robbery the owner and staff were very helpful with coordinating with the embassy and let us cancel the remaining nights of our reservation. A restaurant next door, the Brecon, offered us a free dinner after overhearing the conversation about the robbery between my daughters, the restaurant owner was very kind. We returned to Valparaiso two days later after getting things cleaned up at the embassy and had a great trip overall. The hotel was a good place to stay and Valparaiso a unique and interesting city.

Quedamos atentos a tus comentarios. Saludos cordiales, Felipe.

Dear Geoff We regret to inform that as the other hotels located in the valleys of Valparaíso, we do not have parking, and it is prohibited to park outside the hotel, you can only leave the vehicle to unload the luggage. However, we can inform you with some options as to where you can leave the vehicle: 01.- On the street: Our hotel is located in Urriola street, where you can park your vehicle without no problem, just a bit further up the hill from where we are located, between the streets Almirante Montt y the pasaje Alvaro Besa. 02.- Private Parkings: We are located about 50mts from the “plan” of the city where you can find some private parkings as, estación Puerto and the plaza Sotomayor. This is the most secure form to leave your vehicle during the day, the prices are between $5.500 and $7.500 (the 24 hrs). Journey is about 5min of walking. We hope that this information have been of use to you. Best Regards Anita

Dear: Together with greeting you we would like to comment that we are located on Street Urriola nº 426 in Cerro Alegre. The easiest way to get to our hotel is from the bus terminal, there you can take a taxi, and these are parked in front of the principal entry of the terminal, on the street called “avenida Pedro Montt”. The trajectory is of approximately 10 minutes and has a cost of $5.000 CLP (app 10 USD). The second option is the public transport, which are “micros” (mini busses) or cabs (similar to the taxis) that will leave you just a few meters from our location. They can be taken in Avenida Pedro Montt, it can be whichever goes in the direction to Playa Ancha or Aduana. You should get off in the intersection of the streets Blanco with Urriola (you will see the gas station Shell on the corner), once there you should maintain on the street urriola and walk towards the hill for about 5 minutes, until you find on your right side a typical “chilean port house” of colour red with pink, congratulations you are now at our hotel. The trip in public transportation is for about 10 or 20 minutes and has a cost of $300 and $500 CLP per person that are paid in cash to the driver, the price will depend on which transportation you decide to take. We hope that this information will be of great help. In case of any question, do not doubt in communicating with us again. Best Regards
