Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The ceiling heights are 10-12 feet, and gives a very spacious feel to an already generous room. Many little lobby areas on the various floors, that you can sit and read or visit in. The reception is always manned by English speaking hosts who are very helpful and friendly. The bathrooms are large, but with essentially no counter space. Everything is very clean. Breakfast upstairs in the restaurant is the best we've had in 9 days in Chile (fresh sourdough bread!) and fresh squeezed OJ. Delicious fresh coffee.

Major downside is location and noise until the early morning hours. It is in a very safe and interesting neighborhood.

I loved our three night stay at Hotel Fauna. The deck and the overall design are breath-taking.

High quality furnishings and decor throughout just add to the already intoxicating offer. Great location and delicious restaurant. Top, top, top!

Excellent stay and location! There is no elevator but that did not deter us. The front desk will carry your luggage.

Restaurant is delish and they know gluten free.
Had dinner just a little ways down and it was excellent! So much food!

They say to stay in the hill of this town and don't wander to the bottom of Valparaiso or go along the water front. If you take the bus to Valparaiso from Santiago it's safe and cheap. But take a taxi from the station or Uber and know your address of where you are going.

Not worthy money, the view is great, room was small but comfortable. The site says it has WiFi - it doesn’t- never works. Staff are not friendly, reception staff do not even acknowledge you when you pass. Breakfast is very average, coffee takes an age to come, very basic, not even yogurt on the second morning. It’s the same at night at the restaurant, we popped in for a glass of wine, waited an age for it, such a simple thing to do.

I am so glad we stayed here for our quick trip to Valparaiso. Nice central location made it easy to walk everywhere. Breakfast was great which is always a huge positive. What made it even better was eating outside with one of the best views in the city! We liked it so much we had dinner there one night too- equally as enjoyable!
The staff was very helpful and the location felt secure.

My lady and I are conflicted. Tremendous hotel with lots of character. We loved the view from the hotel rooftop restaurant for breakfast, and the options were great. But Friday night we literally felt the bass of the outdoor music next door until past 4am. Is this the hotel’s fault? Probably not, but it has to be mentioned, and is part of the downside of their central location

It is a lovely hotel. All new construction, but with warm recycled wood which gives it a charming feel. The rooms are small, the public areas quite pleasant. However, if you have mobility issues make sure you are on the main (top) floor. And if you use a wheel chair, you have to descend 15 steps to get to the front door.

I absolutely loved this hotel. It was better than expected! The staff was great. The location was great. The design and decor was so amazing. It made you feel like you were really part of the city. And, maybe best of all, the hotel is attached to an outstanding restaurant. We ended up eating there almost every night. Three nights there and each one outstanding.

Outstanding hotel in an outstanding location! The views from the restaurant alone will win you over, but the staff, the funky, well-appointed rooms, and the numerous shared spaces -- including a lovely sunny living room, will convince you that this is the best hotel in town. We stayed at many hotels in Chile, but this hotel was far and away the best. Great food, too! They even helped us with finding safe, convenient parking for our car. This place is a gem!

The rooms are ok though the safety box was under the bed. Not for senior visitors. The location is best one could imagine.
The most difficult this is that the staff could't speat english at all. It was difficult to try to communicate.

Sorry I can't help you, we had booked into this hotel but found it didn't meet our requirements and so moved to a better hotel in the group Taxis are available at Santiago airport that go to Valparaiso at a reasonable cost, but this hotel is difficult to locate as the road doesn't go to it, you will have to walk up steps and along a footpath.

No, if you are disabled it is not a good choice to go to Fauna or Valparaiso as 80% of the roads are shaped as stairs

What are options for parking a car?
Valparaiso, Chile7 contributions
Hello 74jeffz, There are a few options regarding parking. We offer a carpark which we rent from some neighbours. It´s not far from the hotel and costs 10.000 pesos (or US $20) from check-in to check-out. This needs to be booked in advance and is subject to availability, as we only have 2 spaces. Please let us know if you´re interested. It is necessary to confirm one week before arrival. Also the parking place is not too big, only city car. There is also a public underground parking garage ¨Estacionamiento Bellavista¨ in Intendencia square, which is located on the corner of Avenida Brasil and Bellavista. This car park costs $3.500 pesos per night or $10.500 pesos for 24 hours and is about a 5 minute walk from the Hotel. The last option would be to park your car in the street. We recommend Calle Dr. Grossi, which is the first street on your left after you pass Paseo DImalow (the street where the Hotel is located), Calle Lautaro Rosas and Calle San Enrique (the first and second streets respectively, after you pass Paseo Dimalow. If you have another other questions, don´t hesitate to contact us. Kind regards, Iris Julio A.

How does one arrange transport from Santiago to the hotel? What would be the cost per person?
Valparaiso, Chile7 contributions
Good morning, Well like everybody says before the cheapest way is to take a bus to Valparaiso from Pajarito and once you arrive to the bus station you can take a taxi just outside. This taxi should cost CLP$5.000 to CLP$6.000.- We can also arrange transfer service from the airport to our hotel. Depending the season this could cost arround USD$110.00.- Regards, Iris Julio A. Front desk manager.
