When arriving at Casa Galos, you might be underwhelmed by the entrance and building. But the hotel is clean, comfortable and has charm. The front desk team will keep your key when you depart the hotel for excursions or dinner, but will return the key upon return as they can keep track of what guests are out. As a small hotel, this makes sense and didn't bother us at all as they can then lock doors and the night guard would know when all were back.

We had the best room-the Bellavista-which like its name, beautiful view, was exactly that! You could see all of Valparaiso and the water and it had great breezes. The room was big and had comfortable sofas and the bathroom was nice with a bathtub. The only comment is that the safe is a little small. It could hold passports and small items but not a computer.

The hotel provides a breakfast which was a buffet with the option for eggs made-to-order. The little dining space was cute and accommodating!

The hotel's gem is the rooftop terrace with great views of Valparaiso in the day (to watch a cruise ship depart) or at night with all the lights of the city.

We travel a lot and this is one of the best hotels we’ve stayed. Casa Galos looked plain from outside but the inside exceeded our expectations in every way. The location on the Cierra Alegre hill is perfect, safe, close to many restaurants, artisan shops, best street art places and other attractions. Breakfasts were excellent, eggs made to your taste, fresh fruit, great coffee, it felt like visiting your grandma.

The hotel has a rooftop terrace with breathtaking views of the town. We stayed there one night and sipped wine and watched the sunset.
The hotel’s design is tasteful, with reused wood and a lot of natural light, full of character. Rooms are well appointed and big.

We believe that our room was the best. We stayed in Room # 5 ( Bellavista). It’s a corner room with sweeping panoramic views of the town. At the end of the day we were running to our room to enjoy the views. The bed was huge and comfortable with good reading lights.

The bathroom was enormous with an excellent shower and a big stand alone tub, great for evening soaking.

Our loft also had a kitchenette with a cooking top, microwave, refrigerator and a supply of tea and coffee. We used it to make a cup of tea at night.

But above all is the staff at Casa Galos, always helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, absolutely brilliant. Besides, all receptionists speak excellent English!

My husband and I spent two nights at this lovely hotel in early January and loved everything about our stay. We got the upstairs loft room - large, oval shaped, very nicely done up with a of natural light pouring in. It also had a tiny kitchenette. The place was centrally located on the hills within easy walking distance to many restaurants, shops, bars. We felt totally safe venturing out despite the civic tensions that had plagued Valparaiso and other Chilean cities around that time. The staff was extremely warm and friendly and informative. The day we were checking out, we had to take an early bus to Santiago so the staff set up our breakfast in our room the night before. That was so very thoughtful. One of the highlights of this place was the rooftop deck. It was so very special to sit up there at night and admire the twinkling lights of the city while sipping on our wine!
I am so very glad that we did not follow our friends' advice and cancel our Casa Galos booking (due to the trouble in Valparaiso) and find a hotel in neighboring Vina Del Mar.
Have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Great location, wonderful staff.

Casa Galos deserves all the stars possible and some more! This was our first time in Chile and I was traveling alone with my little kiddo while my husband was in Santiago. I booked three nights at Casa Galos because of its prime location and all the rave reviews here, and it did not disappoint. The room was tastefully designed and spotlessly clean, the view on the rooftop terrace was spectacular, breakfast was fresh and plentiful, and all the staff members (front desk and breakfast crew) were so kind, sweet, and attentive, making us feel totally at home and so well cared for. We met three front desk staff members while there (Victor and two others whose names I didn’t get to ask) and all spoke perfect English. They gave us tips about getting around town and even lent us metro cards to use, which was helpful! It was super easy to walk to all the main attractions or hop on the metro to get to Muelle Barón (to watch the sea lions), Caleta Portales (interesting local fish market and beach area) or other places in Viña Del Mar. The only time we had to use a taxi was to go to La Sebastiana (the home and museum of Chilean poet-diplomat and Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda), which I highly recommend. Despite being close to many tourist spots and restaurants, the hotel was very quiet at night and the bed was very comfy. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Casa Galos and it made an amazing trip to Valparaíso even better. If we ever come back, we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed for 2 nights early January. This hotel exceeded expectations in every way. Jorge greeted us outside the hotel when we arrived to help us with luggage. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast room provided a fantastic breakfast with eggs cooked to order, great coffee, etc. Everyone at the hotel were so nice. They have a rooftop terrace that gave a panoramic view of Valparaiso and at night was amazing! We plan to stay here again and recommend to our friends!

I don't know where to start. 3 nights here in heaven!!! Fabulous location (in Templeman, so plenty of street art around to explore Cerro Alegre & Cerro Concepcion...old Granny is around the corner and We are not Hippies/happies just down the stairs); cafes, bars, restaurants within 100mtr radius; galleries nearby. Our 3rd floor room was spacious, clean and quiet, great window views, tasteful décor (thoughtful touches) with the most comfy bed in all of South America (for us, that is!!). Wonderful hosts (thanks Ingrid & Max), supply of maps, helpful hints and shortcuts to funiculars. Breakfast was included in room rate and it was freshly perfect, served in the little dining room downstairs. The Rooftop Terrace is amazing. Everything about this place is a 10 plus plus plus. After the steps, steep hills up & down and a good workout on the calf muscles, Casa Galos was our special home!! Gracias.

We were lucky enough to be on a cruise from LA to Chile so stayed on for 2 nights in Valparaiso at the end of our trip before moving on to Santiago - and home! We LOVED this hotel and can't praise it enough. The staff are friendly and welcoming and genuinely seem to be interested in the customers and very helpful with suggestions of what to see and where to eat. The location is perfect. So much to see and do within close walking distance. When we were first shown our room - suite 5 - I was brought to tears by its beauty and the stunning view from its many windows. The roof terrace, just a few steps higher, has an even more breathtaking view and is the perfect place to sit in the evening watching the sun go down and drinking a local beer. Simple but lovely breakfast with good coffee. I couldn't recommend it more. We fell in love with Valparaiso and hope to go back one day but it is rather a long way away sadly!! Thanks again to you all for making our stay for special .

Casa Galos is a cozy boutique hotel with excellent service and killer views from the rooftop terrace. Each room is different and all have a small cooktop, sink and tea kettle. There’s a tiny fridge in each room. Casa Galos offers a simple breakfast with made to order eggs, fruit coffee, etc. and it’s more than enough. There are several gathering spaces throughout the hotel to hang out if you don’t wish to spend time in your room.

Our first time in Chile and newly arrived in a hire car from the airport we were initially slightly taken aback by cosmopolitan street art painted, urban/gritty “Valpo” (although soon loved it) so the welcome at Casa Lofts and our lovely spacious room overlooking the city were just what we needed.

Great location for walking to restaurants/bars, and down to the port, buses etc and although we had to park on the street it didn’t feel unsafe to leave our car. Nice breakfast including scrambled eggs, with charming Reception desk (all staff were great), clean and tidy environment and quirky enough to feel you were in the real Chile and not some corporate faceless hotel. Great price too.

Our 7 person party of family and friends had deluxe and loft rooms at Casa Galos
for 5 days through Easter Sunday 2024. These were spacious, and well appointed with excellent views of the hills and ocean, including an open roof terrace with sofas, and walking access to many nearby restaurants, shops and popular points of colorful exploration. Day trip rides and Ubers came readily and safe street parking were convenient, enabling visits to Vina del Mar and Isla Negra. Breakfast was ample and fresh, staff were helpful in finding excellent eateries. Especially convenient was fair priced laundry service with same-day turnaround. Casa Galos is a gem for Valparaiso tourism with comfy beds and pillows and daily cleaning, nice showers and bath tubs.

I don't think the lift goes up to the rooftop though, just to the floors with rooms on them. The views from the roof are superb, but I don't believe there is a lift up to the roof.

Hello, I am wondering if there is secure parking at the hotel or nearby? Thank you!
Answer from Daniela J
Dear Mary, Thanks for contacting us. Casa Galos does not have parking. It is possible to park on the streets nearby for free; usually there is space and there are CCTV cameras. We recommend not to leave any valuable on sight. We have one private parking space, which is about 300 meters from Casa Galos. We only have space for one car, so if you would like to book it I would appreciate if you let as know as soon as possible. You can also use parking services, which are all in the city's flat plain and go up the hills by other means. The closest to Casa Galos are in Plaza Anibal Pinto and Plaza Sotomayor. To scroll through Valparaiso car is not required. If you have any other question, please do not hesitate in contact us, Kind Regards, Daniela
