It is a beautiful place in a great location! Architecture of the building is stunning an it is also well decorated. However I can’t emphasize enough how great is the team working there. Staff responsible for cleaning is doing an amazing work keeping the whole place spotless. The team serving breakfast was friendly and kind and food was very tasty. (Strawberries to die for) Whole team at the reception is helpful and polite. I really hope that all the staff members are well appreciated because they are making this place special!

I booked a twin bed room at Hotel Palacio Astoreca since I had to visit Valparaíso briefly a couple of weekends ago and i was pleasantly surprised about essentially everything in the hotel.

Located in Cerro Alegre it will give you the best possible view of the port, it is close by several hip and trendy restaurants so you won't have to go far to taste and drink what Valparaíso has to offer, this city is widely know as a Hotspot for great eateries and bars.

The hotel director, Alfredo, graciously recommended his personal favorite places in the city for us to eat and drink, he went above and beyond making sure our stay was perfect, he and his staff made our stay an unforgettable one.

The buffet served for breakfast was outstanding, several choices of pastries and fruits plus freshly brewed coffee got me a perfect start for that Sunday morning.

I'll make sure to return there whenever in town, an absolute treat.

I think this was one of my favourite hotels during our trip to Chile. It’s a great location with panoramic views, the house is old but the decor has a very airy, natural and laid back feel and the staff are super helpful. The breakfast isn’t that different from other hotel offerings but I thought it was just fresher and tastier than some. Very close to the funicular so not far to go after a hard day exploring Valpo.

Arrived to find no restaurant, no bar. Very few guests, yet they gave us a room facing a wall/metal grid. Breakfast included a warm cup of coffee, cling wrapped fruit/yogurt not looking too fresh. Room very shabby and towels were very old, grey and tatty. All in all, not a great experience. This hotel may have been nice long ago, but best to avoid now. Water in room arrived in a glass bottle with a cork stopper, so avoided it.

I am still at the hotel and I have had a terrible experience. It is 3 am and I am writing this review. Let me explain myself .

Right now it is 3.27 am in Valparaiso and I am at Palacio Astoreca. I woke up 28 minutes ago because a guest was knocking the door and ringing the bell desperately trying to get in. No one answers and there is no one at the lobby of the hotel. After a few minutes I went downstairs (I am staying in junior suit number 10) and after checking the identity of the person knocking the door and his wife (they showed me their room’s card) I managed to open a window so they could enter the hotel. This is incredible, we are staying in a hotel that it is supposed to be one of the top ones in the city and the administration does not have a person in charge of the entrance or the security of the hotel during the night shift. Of course after all this I cannot sleep. I am glad that the couple got safely inside the premises with my help. I have been several times before here and I know the owners of the hotel. Unfortunately the agency in charge of the management is not doing thing correctly. Nothing else to say.

We had a very enjoyable three nights at the end of December. The staff were very helpful, especially when I lost my phone and they spent time calling it in case it had been found. The reception staff were knowledgable about the area, where to find the Cambios and restaurants and great things to see.

The spa area was pleasant, although the pool to small to swim, it was a great place to have some time out.

Excellent breakfast selection and good wine list and the Pisco sour worth trying.

Lovely hotel in a perfect location that offers personal service. The initial room we were given- although described as partial view - was very dark and a partial view was an exaggeration. We were given another room that had large windows and truly had a partial view. Breakfast is included in the adjoining restaurant, was adequate but luckily there are many food choices walking distance if you want something else. Our room did not have a/c but windows do open.

We had a two night stay in a Premium room that was spacious, clean and well furnished with a sofa, chair, desk and table. Bottles of water were provided. View from the room was nice with a part view of the bay. The public areas were pleasant with a large outdoor terrace with a view over a small plaza and some restaurants nearby. The staff would kindly serve drinks to guests on the terrace. Breakfast was served downstairs and was adequate but nothing special. Although the description of the hotel stated that a restaurant was available, at the present time the restaurant is closed. All staff were welcoming and helpful. The day we checked out we had a very early departure at 5 am and the staff had coffee available and a very generous breakfast bag for us to take with us. This was very much appreciated. The reason I have rated the hotel very good rather than excellent is that room key cards were not functioning so every time a guest needed to access their room someone from reception had to accompany them and open the door. I'm sure the problem will be fixed but it lasted the entire time we were there.

Formerly a private residence, the Hotel Palacio Astoreca is a lovely small hotel which is brilliantly located in the heart of Cerro Alegre, looking out on Paseo Yugoslavo.

A really good quality hotel whose front of house team is very friendly and super helpful. They couldn't do enough to help us and make our stay in Valparaiso very memorable. They even had packed breakfasts prepared for us to take with us one morning when we had to leave at 5.30am for a flight.

Also, a big shout out for the food in the hotel. We enjoyed a brilliant 4 course tasting menu in the restaurant one evening. Every day, the breakfast was fabulously fresh.

Really enjoyed our stay in Valparaiso, enhanced by staying at Hotel PA.

It is easy to see that this used to be a private residence. It has been converted sensitively keeping the main features intact. It should be noted that the hotel is on the steep hills of Valparaiso but Ubers are safe (safer than taxis) to use.

The rooms are large and it is best to choose one facing the sea. Bathrooms are a good size. WiFi is good and fast.

There is a large terrace facing onto the sea. From here one may order drinks and snacks. When we visited there was no restaurant but it is hoped this will be re-opened.

Breakfast is good. Fruit is abundant and there is yoghurt and a wide range of pastries and bread. The local palm syrup, or honey, is available. Various cheeses and cold meats are provided. Hot selections include a form of scrambled eggs, bacon and tomatoes. It is possible to have fried egged made to order. Coffee is plentiful.

Service is good and friendly.
