Good location right on port and metro station. Walking distance to the El Peral funicular, boat trips, Plaza Sotomayor, Right next to a supermarket and restaurants nearby. Hotel is very basic - one bath towel and one bath mat provided per person, no glasses, no frig, one bottle of all-in-one shampoo/soap dispenser at sink and in shower. Staff were helpful. Breakfast was OK (ask for espresso at the desk since the urn coffee was not good).

But the hotel is super noisy. Rooms facing the harbor have nice views of the water and ships coming and going. But it's a working harbor and when ships arrive, the loading/unloading goes all day and all night. The windows provide some soundproofing but not enough. Plus, I don't know what was happening upstairs from my room but starting at 6 am every day, there would be this tremendous thumping and crashing all day long. Like someone was dropping giant barbells constantly (but I didn't see a gym I think). Hotel was cheap so I guess you get what you pay for!

We are staying in IBIS Valparaíso and, very strangely, there were no drinking glasses in our bathroom. We contacted reception and they said it was normal not to have any drinking glasses. We went to the bar and asked for 2.So now we can comfortably brush our teeth or drink some water during the night. It would have been welcoming to have a small bottle of mineral water in the room.Low cost but great effect!
The room itself is clean and efficiently furnished, apart from the missing glasses...

Location Location! You can’t beat the Ibis hotel Valparaiso for location. Situated in the working docks it is by far the most fascinating view I’ve had out of a hotel window in a long time! Room was clean spacious & bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly & accommodating and breakfast delicious. Close to all the major attractions including the train station to Vina Del Mar and the funiculars it really is by far the best place to stay in Valparaiso.

I had good experience with the Ibis Hotel before, but now...

first, the lock of the room had issues to let us in, the room had no ventilation in the bathroom so all the steam stayed in, the window of the bedroom had problems to stay open, the TV didn't work, and I had no remote for the A/C.
I felt sad because I payed the same amount that I payed in another hotel near, and the room was smaller and had all the issues mentioned before.

The breakfast was good, not great, but I was satisfied.
The staff was very polite and eager to help.

Very convenient location for seeing some of downtown Valparaiso and getting to the cruise port. This isn't a luxury hotel, but it's comfortable, and we had a nice view of the harbor. There's a bar and small restaurant on the premises. Staff were very helpful, including getting us a cab to the cruise port. If ever back in Valparaiso, we'll certainly consider coming back to Ibis.

2 nights stay, charged more than expected; no party on the 31st but was advertised.
Close to Metro station to go to Vinas del Mar which is very much more interesting than Valparaiso ( and cleaner). Views on the side of the commercial docks and quite noisy on weekdays.

Santiago. Hotel is conveniently located near main street and restaurants. Hotel itself is very spartan. Rate is acceptable for accommodation. Breakfast area is ok, nothing to admire, just the basics. Meets the old saying” you get what you pay for, nothing more.”

Ibis is ISO 9001 certified. That does NOT mean that it is great. It means that the quality is dependable. Folks, this is the budget label of Accor; you won't get Sofitels. You sure as shooting won't get The Singapore Raffles. But dependability is not to be sneezed at. You can count on spartan but immaculately clean rooms, minimal toiletries but guaranteed hot water, a WiFi and a room safe, both of which work fine. You get breakfast( at ibises the odds are you've never written home about any of them, but if you stick to fruit and coffee you can't go wrong. Dependable here means no Dehli Belly, no Asiatic cholera. It's not breakfast at Brennan's but it's nutritious and safe.

Generally, with luck, and all things considered, the odds that at least one person at the front desk will comprehend English. The odds of two doing so on the same shift aren't very good. Just remember that on the continent of South America, unlike Europe or Asia, everyone other than the pesky Brazilians already speaks the same language, so the imperative to learn the "international language" just isn't as important as on other continents. But: friendly? Yes. Efficient? Yes, again.

Location? Port side on the old part of town, which is good. Easy walking distance to the ascensores going up to Artilleria and Concepcion/Alegre. This is definitely the part of Valpo you want to stay in, and ibis is really the only dependable budget competition bayside. The hotel competition is boutique hotels on top of Cerro Conception, or more modest establishments on places like Artilleria and Cerro Alegre. SE of those boutiques are awesome, with terraces overlooking the ports, container terminals, and ring of hills around the bay. Some of the less-expensive hillside hostelries I've seen look downright scary, but ate probably priced at backpacker rates. If you stay at ibis, guaranteed quality, and if you do want to get up to Conception, the ascensore costs less than 20 cents US. Valpo is a city you can easily fall in love with, and want to return to. If I ever get back, I'm staying at the ibis again.

I spent three nights at the Ibis and it was a pleasant experience. You can't beat the location which is right bang opposite the docks of this port city. From my room I had a wonderful view of ships being loaded unloaded. Nearby is the Plaza Sotomayor, a good supermarket, plenty of cafes and restaurants (don't miss the Cafe Melbourne for its excellent coffee) and there is a terminal for the light rail line as well. The breakfast is modest but ample. Rooms are of a decent size with the most amazingly strong water pressure and instant hot water in the showers. Wifi is free and the signal is good. The room prices are very modest and that is also a plus In short, this would be a great hotel to use as a base.

Don't stay here!!!!! Three women in the lobby are scoping out tourists to rob! Upon arriving I was let in by a women who got behind me when I was standing in line to check in-then I was crowded by two others-I didn't think anything of it until I got upstairs and realized my wallet was missing. Within the hour they had charged over 1000 dollars to the same store-some sort of sports store (obviously the store was in on it also) they have cameras but each time I asked them to review it they said a manager had to be there and there was never one available. I believe the lady at the desk who seemed to know the lady that opened the door for me was in on it to. I'm an American so thank god my cards are insured and luckily they didn't get my passport but I was in a foreign country with not a dime to my name!!!
If you want to be ripped off then this is the hotel for you-worst experience of my life

Hi again, I was checking bus terminals in Vina Del Mar and Valparaiso City before our trip. Since we were only going to Valparaiso and not Vina Del Mar, we chose the bus terminal in Valparaiso in Pedro Mont St. But this is what I found before. There is a bus terminal in Vina Del Mar at Calle Quipe. a short block or 2 away from Vina Del Mar Metro. Their metro is small and very easy to navigate. If you only have backpacks, you can take a metro. From there you will get off at Puerto Metro station right below Ibis Hotel. Transport from bus terminal to Ibis Hotel will depend on your itinerary, number of people and your luggage. So you will have 2 options that way, take a metro or taxi.

Do have a room with a queen bed for night of 21 Jan and checking out 22 Jan?
Answer from Tony O
Las Vegas, Nevada101 contributions122 helpful votes
Our room has a queen bed. Only me and my friend but bed can fit 3 people. Hotel looks new, room is clean and overall the hotel is clean. You can check in at 12 noon. Employees are nice. Two speak English very well. They accept US dollars cash. Request top floor northeast side facing the bay and Valparaiso. The noise from the gym next door the south and west side of Ibis is continuous and so annoying. Arrive early so you can enjoy the city of Valparaiso. It's colorful and has a unique charm.

how far are you from the airport and do you provide transfer from the airport?
Answer from jlessuck

I don't believe that they provide transfers. They didn't to the cruise port. However, if you are flying in to the Valpo airport I believe there is a place to pre-pay for a taxi (there is in several central/south american cities) so that you will pay a set price and be ripped off by any unscrupulous taxiistas.
