Took a taxi from bus station. It is close to the Concepcion tramway. Close to port, but have to take taxi or metro to cruise ship terminal. Speak mostly Spanish although very helpful. Great breakfast. Very clean. Had own bathroom. Did have to climb stairs to room.

Casa Latina is located at the top of one of Valparaiso's many hills- close to where activities like the 'free' walking tour take off. There are cute little shops and restaurants all within walking distance. the rooms themselves are a half step above basic- the beds aren't the most comfortable, but the shower head is nice, there's plenty of hot... An authentic family runned hostel, with an elaborate breakfast (already worth twice the price of the stay) and really nice people. Not the most posh place to go (the beds are not the most comfortable), but definetely the place to be for a real Chilean experience.

Apart from proximity to city centre, the cosy rooms and the friendly staff, the most outstanding feature of the hostal is the breakfast, comprising fresh orange juice, eggs, ham, cheese, cereals, yoghurt etc.

This is our favourite place to go whenever we spend a weekend in Valparaíso. The rooms are comfortable and quiet while the breakfast each morning is fantastic (for standard, Chilean breakfast fare). The staff are very friendly and helpful, even with our less than ideal Spanish, and were always extremely accommodating with any request, whether for directions or to borrow... More
