We stayed at the Lodge and enjoyed the food; the wonderful setting and the great guide/manager Alsensio. We saw many amazing birds and plants, thanks to the guide. The resident naturalist was also very informative. Would love to return someday!

Absolutely loved our 3 day stay here. Locals made us fell welcome and learnt so much about their local and national culture and lifestyle. our room was one of the new ones which was made of wood, with huge double doors opening up to have a view of the forest and a river right in front of us. Shower had...

Good things: Amazing birding .. seen 2 Quetzals, one Created guan, mot mots etc and after 2-3 he hike saw the spectacled bear. Negatives: They had agreed or booking and also their office booked all the rooms, we landed after having an adventurous time at Antisana and were exhausted, we were informed they did not keep any rooms for us,...

Dear Hymakar: you, your friend and a driver (who you had secured elsewhere) arrived at around 8 pm, without a confirmed reservation when our lodge was full. Indeed your driver had called us a few days earlier, but we informed him that he had to make a deposit to confirm the reservation, because during the migration of Andean Bears to...

It's not fancy here, but clean and comfortable. The nature of and in the cloud forest around plays the dominant role. Only 2 hours from Quito this unusual hideaway welcomes the guests with great friendliness. The team conveys the concept of conservation of nature with full conviction and persuasiveness. The service is excellent and the food is just great! Be...

We just returned from a 10-day visit to Ecuador. The highlight of our visit was our stay at Maquipucuna and Santa Lucia Eco Lodges. To start with Rodrigo at Maquipucuna headquarters in Quito did a fantastic job by helping us book last minute reservations at both Maquipucuna and Santa Lucia. He also helped arrange transportation and guides from and to...

On the edge of cloud forest/rain forest and closer to Quito than other rain forest reserves. Fantastic guided walks - in the first hour saw 24 new birds including a motmot, quetzal, toucan, and trogon. Not fancy, but very comfortable. Beautiful surroundings. Basic local delicious food. Really enjoyed our 2 nights and 2 full days there.

We spent 3 days and 2 nights at the Maquipucuna Rainforest Reserve and Lodge in early November. The Reserve is located in a beautiful and remote area of the rainforest about 2 hour’s drive east of Quito. Staff was friendly and went out of their way to make our visit enjoyable. At least one English speaking staff member is always...

I spent 2 nights here and the surroundings are amazing. The bird life and insects are wonderful and the staff at the lodge maximize the experience. it's eco-tourism done very low-key. With a bit of follow-up Maqui arranged transport from UIO later in the day at a reasonable price. I was arranging this trip solo. Every plan they made was...

The juice we had with many of our meals was absolutely amazing. I will never forget the pineapple juice. Came in late August, so missed the spec bear season. That would have been amazing to see them. Arsenio was our guide and he was great. He could literally spot a warbler from 150 yards away. He had his own scope...
