We had a reservation for one night. Days before our arrival, we received an e-mail stating they would like our arrival time as they do not have staff on the premises. We informed the woman writing, we would arrive at 4pm. At 3:50pm, we were ringing the bell. There was no answer. The windows all had closed shutters and there...

I guess Casa Naranja isn't what it used to be from what I read in reviews they used to serve breakfast, that's no longer happening. The owner speaks no English. And the place has a funky smell and a lock that can easily be broken into. I couldn't leave for such long durations cuz I felt my valuables would get...

La casa naranja was a great place to stay and exactly what we needed being in Cuenca. the Senora looked after us, serving breakfast at the time we wanted. She has shown us the lovely fashion of alpaca wool that she designs. The room was simple but stylish and every room has a different style. The house is situated in...

We started out on the wrong foot because Expedia had not sent our reservation so only by luck was the room with the private bath available. I say by luck or maybe not because although the building is beautiful and decorated tastefully it is also very chilly so I think that some heaters would come in handy. The breakfast could...

My husband and I spent three nights here in March. We found the rooms to be spacious and very clean, with great beds and pillows, and lovely linen. The owner was lovely, suggesting restaurants and places to see. She got up super early to make us breakfast. All in all we found the hotel to be quite nice, but as...

The building is very old but also very lovely and beautiful. Breakfast was ok and rooms were clean and quiet but cold. The location is good. Service or tips were hard to get because the owner was there only during the breakfast. We found the owner a little strange and she also tried To change the conditions of our booking...

For the price, you can do much better in Cuenca. The owner speaks almost no English and is not very friendly. Rooms are tiny and there is no sound insulation so you will hear everything around you. There is a moldy smell and the ceiling leaks when it rains. Although the location is good, the neighborhood gets sketchy at night...

We booked 3 rooms for 3 nights, as we were travelling with two other couples. There is no doubt the building is lovely, authentic colonial, and minimal interior design doesn't detract. But we found it cold and less than welcoming to come back to at night - lamps not working, and no comfortable common space to sit in. Hot water...

"A Casa Naranja" exceeds my expectations each time I visit Cuenca, Ecuador. Besides a discrete metal sign outside, Naranja is invisible from the street. This makes for quite the pleasant surprise when you enter the hostel to find beautiful high ceilings, tasteful decorations, and utterly fabulous staff. Each room in the Naranja is unique and fun. If you are traveling...

The home is absolutely beautiful but large and empty. We were the only guests our entire stay. The seneora who owns the home lives on the top floor and will call down to you from the balcony if she needs to say something. An example would be our room was supposed to come with breakfast and she yelled down one...
