I wanted to stay there a few nights. It looked basic and was cheap. I left it in the evening before the first night after l found out that the room was infested by insects (silverfish-like but a lot bigger). Luckily there is another hostel just across the street.

There are no amenities. No reliable wifi, tv, hot water. Not a word of English, French or German. No helpful anything is available. Embellished reviews are a disservice to everyone. Not a suitable destination for most people. Based on fraudulent reviews I committed to 6 nights at $55 a night..I left after 4 nights.. Better places are available for $20....

We really enjoyed our brief stay here. Cosy, clean and quiet place with a friendly manager and got a matrimonial for 16 usd which is way cheaper than the other hostels we saw. We didn't use the kitchen but it was clean and well equipped. Recommended!

The Rosario is more of a guesthouse than a hostel. Beautiful colonial building with a pretty garden. Owner are very friendly but be prepared to speak Spanish as they don't speak English. Bed was comfortable and we have slept very well. Downsides: the shower either has decent pressure OR hot water with little pressure. Can't have both. Breakfast wasn't worth...

It's an excellent location being so close to the centre, the river, supermarket etc. It's very clean and comfortable. Very good kitchen with lots of room in the common area to eat and hang out. The couple who run the hostel are really lovely and will do anything to help you. Definitely recommend this place!

I've been staying at Villa del Rosario regularly for about 5 years and love it. It's a real gem and the only place I stay when I am in Cuenca. The building is lovely, charming and full of character with a beautiful central courtyard garden. The location is perfect, right in the historical centre of the city and a few...

I would recommend this hostel to those passing through cuenca or staying for a while. We arrived early at 5am and much to our delight the bed was available and the staff let us in to take a nap. The whole time the stuff were more than happy to assist us in any way possible. Despite us speaking very broken...

Just spent one night, but it was lovely. The hosts were helpful and friendly. Beautiful garden in the courtyard - really a little paradise in the busy city block. Clean and well-kept. Great food in the area too!

Don Luis and Delores where the most lovely hosts! They were just so sweet and made us feel right at home. We arrived at 6am after a long bus journey and he took us straight to the room and told us to rest! We also stayed late on our final day, waiting for a bus out of Cuenca. I was...

“Best to see in person and compare with other hostels and hotels. Be prepared to bargain, don't pay anything close to the first price asked. If you reserve, do it for only about three days, so you'll have a good excuse to move.”
