This hotel would have been "Gran" indeed back in the day, and certainly the go-to destination for celebrities and bohemians through the 1930's and beyond. It still does hold a bit of old world charm, even if it gives the impression that wi-fi is the only addition in the last 70 years. But that's what I expected, so when coupled... More

We wanted to experience the El Centro part of Lima during our visit and the location for Gran Hotel Bolivar was perfect; we walked to the sites and areas we were interested in. This is a long-ago grand hotel with a great history. I loved staying here and would recommend it, but don't expect an up-to-date chain hotel type experience,... More

Ok, it is an old hotel. Classy entry. Slow old elevators. Old furniture in the rooms. Old fixtures in the bathrooms. But the management knows how to run a hotel, and tries to keep everything in good condition. Nice location to come and go several times each day as you enjoy the ambiance of the center of Lima. Check the... More

you will never forget your stay here...such history...such fading grandeur! It was like living in a time warp!. Everything is tired at the edges...from the fraying carpet to the bathroom! On the plus side the room was large and airy. Bed was comfy but pillows strangely hard!...and it was cheap too...and perfectly placed for the city centre

The once elegant Grand Bolivia Hotel has now been sold out and trades on memories. The front of the hotel now houses a cheap restaurant that trades on its location and a KFC. Go into the main hotel for the "Famous Pisco Spurs" in the cocktail bar, but be warned this has lost all its 20th century charm. The price... More

We loved our stay here! The hotel has so much history, the food and drinks (including feee breakfast) were delicious, and the hotel staff was very friendly. Our only suggestion would be to bring ear plugs - the streets are noisy and you'll hear cars honking all throughout the night.

A must visit for any one who loves history and architecture. It's a beautiful hotel comfortable and clean. Beuatiful rooms . I stayed in the delux suite and also presidential room. Views overlooking Plaza San Martin . Unfortunately these room tend to get the most noise from the plaza traffic and continual horn beeping . The but the grandeur makes... More

I'm wary of using terms like 'faded grandeur' because this place remains well kept and comfortable – and really pretty grand – and if the eye of the world and of fashion has moved on to Four Seasons-style hotels then so much the better: it leaves magnificent old places like this to those of us with better taste.

A hotel that throws you back in time. We had a very quiet room facing the centre of the hotel and it was nice and close to the old centre of town. Good value and reminded us of the grand Budapest hotel.
