If you're going to visit Machu Picchu, then the Sanctuary Lodge is definitely the place you'll want to stay. The grounds are beautiful, the staff are friendly, the food is very good, the rooms are comfortable. Of course, the cherry on the top is that you can leave the hotel, walk a few steps and be at the entrance to...

We had hiked the 13km Inca Trial from the 104 Kilometer starting point to the Sun Gate and then down to Machu Picchu, so were exhausted as we rolled into the Sanctuary Lodge. The entire 2 days exceeded our expectations. What stood out was the first rate service, especially in the bar/dinning room area where over 36+ hours you establish...

I prefer a quaint inn, maybe a quiet little place on a lake or with a view. I originally booked an eco-lodge in Agua Calientes, but decided the ritual of lining up for a bus at 5:30 a.m. in AC in order to be at Machu Picchu, was not for me. That made the Belmond the only option, since it...

We had expected some kind of luxury, but what we experienced was high over the top. Although the rooms were rather small (but keeping in mind that we were staying at a mountain lodge, this was also quite logical), we were much surprised by the carefully selected details of its equipment and decoration. They had thought of everything a weary...

Not only is this hotel ideally located in Machu Picchu it is a fantastic hotel. Every single staff member we interacted with was super friendly, and could not do enough for us. We have traveled all over the world and stayed in many 5 star properties. The Sanctuary Lodge staff is the best. After we had checked out and spend...

The name says it all- it is a high end lodge, not a hotel . This is a good place and overall good experience but there were quite a few issues and it does not compare to the other Belmond hotels . The positive things are the location - steps away from Machu pichu so you can come in and...

Is it pricey, yes. Is it worth every penny, yes. Machu Picchu had always been on my bucket so I stayed here a few days in case there was rainy weather one day. The hotel is located literally steps away from the entrance to Machu Picchu. The rooms are pretty basic but it's all about location, location, location. All meals...

The Belmont Sanctuary Lodge is a lovely hotel. We chose it because it is literally right outside the entrance to Machu Picchu. We had limited time in our schedule making the cost worth it. We arrived in the early afternoon. Relaxed taking in the mountains from courtyard, I hiked about two hours of the Inca trail while my sister rested....

As the only hotel located at the gates to Machu Picchu, the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge is a special place. Having said that, the modest accommodations, lack of variety (once the last bus departs for the evening you have no where else to go), and the expensive nightly rate, would compel me to recommend seeing the UNESCO sight as a day...
