Las Qolqas Eco Resort & Spa was conceived with the mindset that tourism can be immersive, authentic and sustainable. Our lodge is set in the heart of the Sacred Valley, on the outskirts of Ollantaytambo, halfway between Cuzco and Machu Picchu. Guests can take a complimentary 5-minute shuttle bus to and from Ollantaytambo and its train station for transportation via train to the amazing Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Las Qolqas offers accommodation for up to 58 guests in 16 safari-style luxury tents available in three formats: 2, 4 and up to 8 guests. Designed to be contemporary in nature, the tents are tasteful, elegant and comfortable. They all have private terraces and bathrooms. The signature dining experience of Las Qolqas is Pututu, a restaurant set in a greenhouse, where a number of ingredients are grown. We offer a complimentary a-la-carte breakfast and for lunch and dinner an all-organic menu that is both seasonal and local. The bar at Las Qolqas specializes in Peruvian spirits, locally brewed beer, and herbal-infused teas from our own garden. Our Spa is adjacent to the Patacancha river and surrounded by mountain peaks. Our local therapists offer an extensive menu of relaxing and healing massages, couples rituals, and body treatments. The spa also offers an outdoor Hydrotherapy Circuit including salt scrub, sauna, onsen (hot tub) and shower. All the structures are made of wood. We offer many experiences off the traditional tourist route, specializing in hikes on seldom frequented inca trails to archaeological sites such as Pumamarca, Inti Punku, Ñaupa Iglesia and the Perolniyoc Waterfalls.

We've traveled a lot, and Las Qolqas Eco-Resort is one of the most wonderful places we've ever stayed at. It is located 3 km outside of Ollantaytambo, at the foot of a beautiful mountain. It is so peaceful, the gardens are beautiful, and we appreciate their focus on local sourcing and the environment. The English-speaking staff is so kind, helpful and friendly (hola, Charlie & Katherine!). Chef Linder Padilla makes the most amazing meals. The cabins are very private, and you can hear the sound of the nearby river. The massage and facial by Laura was wonderful. You will not want to leave the property. It's an excellent way to recover after hiking the Machu Picchu Trail. We spent a full day doing absolutely nothing but reading and staring at the beautiful scenery. Highly, highly recommended!

We originally planned to spend one night here on the way to Machu Picchu, but decided to spend 3 nights. The grounds are amazing and well kept. A lot of colorful flowers and running water and all the cabins/tents are like new and designed well. The wood burning stove is a nice touch for the 40 degree (F) nights along with an electric heater. The services was impeccable...a great welcome drink and service that was over and above my expectations. They have oxygen onsite to help with the altitude. They are willing to take you to and from town for free. There is a outdoor jacuzzi and sauna they can stoke up that runs on burning wood! Then the food - all 3 course meals that were both very tasty and excellent presentation with edible flowers and more! One night we ate trout that was caught that day from the stream that runs through the property! I will attach some pics, but even they do not show how magical it is in person. The price was very fair for all you get and really not much more than some cheap hotels we saw online in the city. Rodrigo and his staff were all excellent. Thank you so much for making our stay the best!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Las Qolqas, the staff is nice and the room and view from the hotel are incredibly peaceful.
We however had a couple of disappointments:
- The hotel offers a shuttle to go to Ollantaytambo as it’s not possible to go by foot. The first ride is complementary but additional rides are charged at $10 (approximately 40 soles) which is extremely pricey for less than 10 mins (our ride in Lima from the hotel to the airport was the same price for 40 mins)
- The hotel offers a single menu at their restaurant for $30 or $35 (approximately 120 soles) which again is quite expensive as most good quality restaurants in big cities like Lima and Cusco are cheaper
- Breakfast is included but with very minimal choices

Overall these two points made us feel like we were lacking choices to decide what and where we wanted to eat. The hotel should be more transparent about this.

This place is fabulous. A train ride of about 1.5hrs from Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes) this is a great base for a visit to the amazing Machu Picchu. The food is gourmet and the accommodation is individual high-end tent-like rooms. Surrounded by mountains and highly recommended if you favor tranquility. Staff speak good English.

I stayed in this hotel for 6 days and it was a wonderful experience: The hotel is excellent, overall I really enjoyed it. The views are excellent, the tents setting and he proximity to the river gives the whole experience an excellent value.

The staff is very welcoming and friendly, and overall always willing to give some advice and help the best way they can. The food is also excellent and they always have a vegetarian option on the menu.

Reaching Ollantaytambo town is not far and can be easily reachable with the hotel transport. I arrival in my private vehicle and it was easy to find parking in town.

Highly recommend this hotel, and not only as a stopover for Macchupicchu but I really recommend to stay a bit longer and explore in and around Ollantaytambo

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Las Qolqas. The property is beautiful, the spa is wonderful and the food is delicious. Jim at the front desk is extremely helpful and kind.

When I booked, I saw that they offered activity options on their website, and they seemed to have a good variety. I inquired about these activities a couple of times ahead of our stay and was finally provided a list of options and some pricing the day prior to our arrival. The prices seemed in-line with other private tours we have booked during our month long stay in Peru. I was told that I could arrange everything upon arrival.

However when we met with their tour guide that evening, his offerings were different than what was in the information provided the day before. A day of mountain biking was quoted much higher than any private day tour that we have done, and lunch was not even included. Given that I hadn't arranged anything else during our short stay, I felt we had to do it. The guide left me sitting in outdoor lobby to arrange things for over half an hour until I finally got too cold and headed inside to see what was going on. Then he tried to push my son to use a bike that was clearly too large so that he wouldn't have to find another one. Additionally, I had to pay in cash which required multiple ATM withdrawals and the associated commissions. I wish that I could say the tour was worth it, but I found our guide very disappointing from start to finish. This ranks well below all the other tours we have done despite being the most expensive.

We had wanted to do another tour, but obviously chose not to. This turned out to be a great decision, as we enjoyed a day just relaxing at this amazing property.

This hotel was amazing, definitely one of the best places we have stayed in the world. Our rooms were great with a beautiful view of the stars at night. The garden was perfect. The food and drinks were top notch. And they provided transportation to the train station free of charge. The food was all organic. They even make their own Stevia sweetener that I had with my coffee. Breakfast fruits and juices were freshly cut. We were so happy to stay there and will stay there without a doubt next time we visit!

This is the best hotel I have experienced and I have stayed in many hotels all over the world. If I could give 10 stars I would give 10 stars. The staff gave attention to details and presenting us with tea upon arrival was truly beautiful and thoughtful after a long day of traveling. You must make this one of your stays. Don't miss this hotel. The surroundings are out of this world.

The surroundings are gorgeous, a narrow river valley among soaring peaks, the grounds beautifully maintained, with attractive gardens. The central lodge, with a very attractive reception and dining area, is architecturally pleasing but understaffed in terms of reception, bar service and advice about things to see and do in the immediate vicinity.
The restaurant offers excellently prepared, high quality food and superb service but is decidedly overpriced.

The smaller standalone cabins are beautifully finished but quite cramped, with no room for toiletries in the bathroom and only a very small wood stove, which tends to overheat and then quickly go out, leaving the room quite cold at night.

The photos and descriptions don’t do this place justice. Located in a quiet valley half an hour’s walk (or a short drive) from Ollantaytambo the Las Qolqas Eco Resort by far exceeded our expectations. The friendly and helpful staff helped us with all our questions and requests, alongside the manager and the owner of the hotel. They also recommended a Machu Picchu guide for us (Porfirio - charming and very knowledgeable) and helped us with transportation to and from the train station to get to Machu Picchu (included in our room rate). The food on site is excellent, as are the drinks. There are fireplaces in each cabin which they’ll light for you at your request. You can admire hummingbirds from the comfy chairs on your veranda while you can hear the birds chirp and the sounds of the nearby river. We also did a lovely 2hr hike (each way) on an Inka Trail to the nearby Pumamarca Ruins which was amazing and we didn’t see any other tourists the whole way - a great way you get away from the masses. Las Qolqas was easily our favourite place we stayed at in Peru.

Thank you so much for your kind words. The hike to Pumamarca is a favourite of mine, so picturesque and peaceful. One can hike on a thousand year old trail, through millenarian agricultural terraces, immersed in nature and then visit a gorgeous archaeological site all to oneself. I am so glad that you chose to take that trip because it is very different to the hike to Machu Picchu. Wishing you many more excursions to wonderful places.
