SPLENDOR We saw some bad reviews but still we booked 4 nights at this place looking for the "antique atmosphere" the old Montevideo promised and convinced by some friend's good reviews. At first, it was ok, just looked like an antique hotel in an old downtown. However, once we got into room #217, the problems popped up on our faces.... More

the hotel is not properly clean, it is without air conditioning system, it is very noisy. Only location and staff are very good but this is not enough. I can't recommend this place. Wi-Fi connection is very poor.

I spent 3 nights in the single room of Splendido Hotel. Or it's more like a hostel. Location was great, but since it was the weekend and Ciuada Vieja becomes a ghost town in weekend, I questions my location pick. On the other hand i was happy because when I arrived before the weekend I couldn't sleep because of the... More

I stayed one night at the Splendido and regretet that badly! There were flees in the bed so I had to change rooms in the middle of the night (luckily there was one other room a available) and spend the whole next day washing all my clothing and spraying my luggage with anti-flee spray which meant I had no time... We are sorry about your bad experience, nevertheless, we consider that you are not thinking about all the damage you are making us with your review. Also, and very important, you did not mentioned on the review that you stayed the night before on a hotel on the countryside (they phoned us in order to book for you the room... More

Travelled through South America for 7 months and this was some of the best customer service we received. Stayed during the off season so we got a great rate and upgraded to a private room that was massive. Close to the "old city" and main entertainment districts the building belonged to a rich family in the early 1900's and though... More

Selected this hotel because of it's location to the center part of the city, which was an excellent choice. While the hotel was "adequate" it has seen it's better days. During the days, this was probably a nice hotel in the heart of the city, but it no longer is chic. The wifi was excellent and speedy in the room,... More

The front door and the appearance of the reception is deceiving, I was seriously worried as we walked in and visited the front desk. The building is very old and over due for serious renovation, some basic things in the rooms are dysfunctional: a lamp that doesn't turn on, a screw in your washroom is missing. But I still choose... First I will cite the good things about this hotel. 1. It is in a perfect location, right across from Teatro Solis and right in the middle of the city at the edge of Ciudad Vieja and Plaza Independencia; 2. The outside building is pretty and nice and it is centrally located around lively bars, restaurants, cafes and a real... More
