Ceilings are about 15' or more high, and the rooftop is a great place to look out over the city, including the shipyard area. I don't think the service is typical of a hostel, in that it was not exceptionally friendly. I wouldn't necessarily say unfriendly, but it's just not what you're used to when you go to a hostel....

Hi Suzanne, thanks for your review. I'm sorry we didn't fulfill all your expectations. Like most old buildings in Montevideo, rooms either have windows facing the street, or no window - just the large glazed doors to the patio. All our mattresses are bought new and are medium-density foam. We gradually replace them, as they wear with use. We just...

The staff at Montevideo Chic Hostel gave us a warm and friendly welcome, even though we arrived in the middle of the night, all sweaty and jet-lagged. The location is great, walking distance from all attractions in Old Montevideo and it has an awesome rooftop patio (with an amazing view!). No breakfast that we could see, and we didn't like...

This hostel has been remodeled, and its design aesthetic is what booked me here. It really is a beautiful place. Its in a pretty cool location near all the museums and has access to the coastline if you like a morning or evening run, and its not more than an hour walk to the Tres Cruces bus station or the...

We have stayed in many different hostels throughout South America and Montevideo Chic Hostel has by far the most helpful, friendliest and welcoming staff. This does not feel like a hostel, but more like staying with friends in a lovely, large clean house. Highly recommend.

This hostel is always clean, has a relaxing environment, and is sufficiently equipped with everything one needs (laundry station, kitchen + refrigerators, wifi, community terrace w/ view, etc) to have a comfortable stay in Montevideo. The management is super friendly and always helpful. Perfectly located in the Old City as well. This place is a true gem.
