This resort is old and need repairs but it is not the problem. The building next door is a demolition site with jack hammers breaking concrete 8 hours a day or more. Southern Cross Hotel should advise their customers during this period.

This review is not for the hotel accommodation but rather for the restaurant on the top floor of the Southern Cross. There are two restaurants - I'm reviewing the Tuki Tuki restaurant which specialises in local seafood Fijian cusine. There is no signage on the ground floor for this restaurant which is a real pity as the food is really... More

The staff were really kind and helpful, however on arrival the sheets, pillows and towels were stained. The bed sheets were not changed everyday, they were just re-fitted. Fortunately there weren't any bugs but they shower and beds were really dirty. The elevators also don't work on certain levels, although the staff help take the luggage up the stairs. Also,... More

I needed a place to stay for one night in Suva, and decided that a central location close to everything on Gordon Street will do just fine. I stayed at this hotel some 30 years ago, so it has been around for a while. I was told the rooms were refurbished, but mine, a deluxe room, looked and felt the... More

The day I checked in, the towels, which were neatly folded, looked and smelled used. The bath mat had shoe prints. The toilet bowl seemed to have been recently used as it was not flushed properly. There was a used soap in the dish. Add to this misery is the daily sight of dead roaches upon waking up - apparently... More

I had 3 rooms booked on the 2nd floor (rooms 203 / 204 / 205) thankfully so as the lift was out of order, and 6 females means luggage galore. After our first nite I discovered the toilet was leaking (rm 205) so advised reception as such the following morning. On the same night upon returning from our travels in... More

I'm a little undecided whether I like the place or not. I've been there twice and the great thing about the place is that the staff are very welcoming and wonderfully nice. The rooms are clean and spacious too. However both times I encountered problems on checking in. In the first visit, my booking had been misplaced or cancelled and... More

The hotel is in the centre of town, an ugly grey monolith just up the hill from old Government House and across from Department of Correction HQ. The room hadn't been serviced on our check in, (stuff happens), but there were no sheets or towels at all. We were tired and travel worn, having just arrived from Nadi, we asked... More

This was simply the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Dimly light room, dirty floor, stained sheets & towels, mosquitos in the room, upstairs guests dragging furniture around all night and to cap it all off, an old t-short from a previous guest hanging behind the bathroom door. Breakfast was a watery juice drink, 2 cold sausages, a greenish boiled... More
