Before picking Lot Boutique Hotel, I spent a lot of time researching, reading reviews on several different hotel platforms. I probably dedicated 3 hours until I finally made my pick. I wanted to stay in a good and safe location in downtown Tirana where I could enjoy a comfortable, spacious room and eat a good breakfast every morning before heading out into the hustle and bustle of downtown Tirana to photograph the Albanian capital.

I also wanted to know if the hotel’s staff were helpful and friendly. It was my first time in Albania, so I knew I was going to need some local advice. I depend on the social interactions I have where I’m traveling and knowing that the team working at the hotel I stay at are not only good at what they do – but also have a positive attitude is important to me.

My room (#402) was terrific with a large, comfy Queen sized bed, big windows with lots of light, and a nice city view. My room also had plenty of space to store my clothes and a desk where I could work from.
The restaurant staff, in particular, the female head chef was so sweet and kind. Like the team at the reception and all the front doormen, they were always nice and welcoming.

During my stay, I also had a few fabulous massages from the hotel's very professional Balinese therapist.
Special mention to the security fellow named “Monday”. He was particularly helpful and kind. This young man went out of his way (on several occasions) to guide me to local restaurants, where to get a great shave and the best exchange office in the neighborhood.
There are plenty of 3 and 4 star hotels in Tirana. But I doubt if any of them come close to the quality and positive experience I had at Lot Boutique Hotel. Not to mention that the location has so many good restaurants, cafés and ATMs nearby.
Again, Lot Boutique Hotel is Highly recommendable. The portrait photos are of the hotel’s staff, whom I now consider as friends!

By the way…

Tirana should be on everybody’s travel list. Even if you’re not a photographer. It’s a great city to explore with a ton of history, a fantastic dining/café culture and a lot of soulful locals. It’s not a “fancy" city by any definition and the attractions aren’t exactly spectacular. But they are nonetheless very, very interesting, including the museums, two huge Cold War bunkers and the exhilarating gondola ride up the mountain just outside of town. Like in any great city, you’ll of course find plenty of restaurants, bars, and cafés to choose from.
I found Albanians to be really kind. Perhaps a little shy to begin with but then amazingly friendly and generous. The hotel’s staff was no exception. They were phenomenally friendly and helpful when I needed suggestions of things to do and directions on how to get there. I was genuinely impressed.

Pros: Perfect location to explore the city center. Guarded parking. Very good Balinese massage. Quiet room facing South. Coffee maker in the room. Lavish breakfast buffet.
Cons: Difficult to find: don't let the photos fool you, you can hardly see the white façade from the street. The façade looks like a Grand Hotel but it is rather tight, with smallish rooms, you enter from a very narrow street with a lot of traffic. Our coffee maker was broken, the service forgot to fix or replace it. The breakfast could be organized a little better, e.g. with a place to set your plate while you get tea or coffee.

We’ve just returned from a 3 night stay at this very nice boutique hotel. We arrived by taxi from the airport which we had booked through the hotel and it’s 15 euros for the 30 minute journey.
We were a party of 2 couples and had 2 rooms on the 4th floor, there is a lift. 401 and 402. One was a standard and one an executive room and a good bit bigger. Traditionally furnished and decorated.
The beds were pretty firm but we generally slept ok. The hotel was fairly quiet as it’s not on a main road but set back a bit.
Everything was very clean. We had TVs, safe, kettle, mini bar, a coffee machine (which didn’t work) not much wardrobe space, but we managed on a short break. The bathroom was nice with a good shower, but ours didn’t have a door so we ended up getting a wet floor if we had more than a quick shower.
All the staff were pleasant and the housekeeping staff do a great job. The reception staff were very helpful and helped with taxis and printing boarding passes and restaurant recommendations.
Breakfast was very good. A really good selection of hot and cold items on the buffet. The waitress also were on hand making coffee.
All in all a great stay and I would be happy to recommend.

The location was within walking distance of all major sights. The breakfast was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the room was a little noisy and the beds were too soft to be comfortable. Overall it was a very good stay.

Amazing hotel. Best stay in Europe for us so far. The hospitality is unmatched; everyone greets you with a smile and looks after your needs. It’s 5 star service, really.

Location is excellent. Everything is in reach. Reception is helpful.

Amazing breakfast, freshly baked cakes and amazing home made juices. The spread is halal, including the sausages, and the breakfast supervisor; Brelinda aka Rina, serves you at your table with warmth and attention.

Rooms are beautiful! The cleaning in top-notch. They even fold any clothes lying here and there. Neatly put away your items, clean your linens, and it’s so speedy and thorough. We go down for breakfast, and we come to a spotless and fresh smelling room. We’ve only had this kind of service in 5 star resorts in Asia.

There are safes, irons, blow dryers, kettle; coffee machine and anything else can be requested via the phone at the reception.

We got upgraded twice to superior rooms, even though we booked a standard.

Thank you for making Albania comfortable and memorable for us!

100 percent recommended for anyone coming to Albania.

This small hotel is tucked away down a street off a main road so it’s an ideal location. The twin room was very spacious. Comfortable beds. Coffee machine didn’t work and there was no free water other than one bottle of sparkling. Little balcony was lovely and the french doors opened fully. Breakfast was delicious but the dining room is pretty small but for a cute city centre hotel space is restricted. Reception was helpful and friendly.

Arrived to Lot in the evening with our group of 25 people, after a long and exhausting day on a bus. All the others got their rooms but we had to wait because the male receptionist couldn´t find our booking. The others had booked with Booking.com. We travel a lot and use Hotels.com because of their reward program. We said it was booked with Hotels.com and showed him the booking on both our telephones. He said there are no such booking numbers, I can´t find your booking and we are fully booked so you can´t stay here, Then he booked us a room at Hotel Opera, a 10 minute walk across the park.

When he checked our group in he was confused, mixed things up, forgot to give back passports after copying them. Our group leader, the last to check in, was told that he had already checked in and got a key and a room...........

Lot is situated on a very narrow and busy back street. Next morning we went there to meet the group. Nice lady receptionist said you DO have a booking here (!) and apologized and wanted us to move back to Lot. We were so disappointed with Lot and didn´t want to spend our money there. I must add that our friends was happy with their stay at Lot.

We liked Hotel Opera very much and decided to stay there for the coming days. It was spacious and elegant with super professional, nice staff. And we saved 100 euro.

Back in Sweden we contacted Hotels.com and they refunded the money we had paid for Lot.

Our last night of the seven day tour was in Tirana and tour operator had chosen this amazing hotel that my guest from eleven different countries had really enjoyed. Most of the hotels in Albania are built last ten years, but what makes the difference is normally the staff and quality of the hotel and for sure this hotel has it all. Great place, friendly staff and great location for visiting Tirana.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Lot Boutique Hotel in Tirana. The staff was so very friendly, helpful and super attentive. They deserve all the praise there is. On top of that our room was great, good size and with a super bed. Very clean and with a nice view over the city. The hotel also had a good location, close to main attractions, which was a bonus due to random heavy rain showers.

The hotel is tucked away up an allyway from the main road which may cause difficulties for someone arriving by car .We had the hotel send a taxi to the airport for us so this was not a problem for us .The taxi was not there on arrival but a quick call to the hotel and the taxi eventually came. The cost of the hotel booked taxi isTwenty Euro
.
Although a substantial breakfast is served there is no restaurant on site for dinner, but there are several dining options close by. They will however serve drinks in the breakfast room if you ask them.

The location is very central and close to all the major landmarks. The hotel is maybe a little dated but very clean and perfectly adequate for a short stay. There seem to be plans for future renovations. The bedrooms were fine and the shower was excellant

The staff were without exception attentive. friendy and very helpful. They all spoke perfect English.

Not five star but neither was the cost of the room at 70 Euros per night.
