A group of 17 of us hiked up Mount Greylock and spent the last night of the 2016 season at Bascomb Lodge. The lodge is comfortable but rustic, so don't expect luxury. They serve hot meals pretty much all day long. Because we had such a large party, for dinner the staff set a large table for us away from...

When the reservations were made, we knew that we would be sharing a bathroom but thought it OK because we were booking three rooms. However, one room was away from the other two, so we ended up sharing with strangers and I got an earful from one woman for using the commode, washing my face and brushing my teeth. What...

Three of us stayed at Bascom Lodge on our way home from a road trip, planning to do a little hiking the next morning. The Lodge has a great location on top of Mt. Greylock. But we arrived in fog and drizzle so we were not able to enjoy the views, sunset, etc. Admittedly there is a different beauty in...

The 8 mile drive up to the summit of Mt Greylock is amazing. Take your time and stop at the scenic vistas - each one is a different view. Once you get to the lodge I suggest you drop off your stuff before parking because the parking lot is a tad of a walk. You register in a great living...

We have actually camped on Mount Greylock in the past, but if you don't have space to carry camping gear along, and if you are willing to pay the rates, Bascom Lodge is a nice alternative. If you're looking for luxury, go to Pittsfield and just drive up for the day. Perhaps the best way to describe Bascom Lodge is...

I've visited this impressive summit more than once, but this was our first venture to the top for a meal..and we were not disappointed. Its a good, hearty typical breakfast, served up with a view that is hard to beat. This mountainsides just drop away from the peak very dramatically, making for memorable vistals. The nice thing, as you get...

My wife and I decided to make the trip up the mountain for dinner after hearing great things about the lodge and it's meals. A low hanging cloud met us in the parking lot as we made it to the summit. Upon entering the lodge a rustic feel with low amber lighting along with a large stone fireplace surrounded by...

Great lodge keeper. He was very nice and helpful. Best is to stay during a weekday since it gets busy during the week ends. They have a restaurant at the lodge for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Dinner is by reservation only but definitively a must try if you stay there. They host small events through the summer, with drinks from 5pm to 7pm....

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Bascom Lodge on a Saturday night in July 2016. It was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the beautiful views atop Mt. Greylock after hiking to the top via Cheshire Harbor Trial/Appalachian Trial. The staff was friendly and accommodating--letting us check in a few hours early. We stayed in the small, private...

Keep in mind that this is NOT your typical hotel experience. The lodge is quite rustic and the accommodations are very simple. We stayed here for two nights this summer in one of the private family rooms. The baths are shared. The room was comfortable although a bit warm with no A/C. Built in the 1930's, the lodge feels as...
